Arrival Story:
Fred was in a kill shelter in Indiana where a young volunteer recognized his potential - but with his maladies, he was to be euthanized anyway. He was transported to Minnesota to be safe in a rescue/foster home. .. He came to us with his ribs on one side and his spirit broken. His body full of open sores, healed and re-opened scabs and a bad case of both "fear aggression" and "separation anxiety" .. Yet with patience, training and love, Fred has blossomed into THE coolest boy. .. Fred listens to his kids when they need to spout about what a jerk mom can be. .. He keeps a watchful eye over a boy as he sleeps. .. He "bellied up" and pee'd when he saw his favorite girl - until she taught him confidence ... He kisses away mom's tears when she cries over other dogs who can't be saved. .. Fred has taught us about forgiveness, acceptance, true, unconditional love and second chances. .. Fred has accepted each of us -- imperfections, sheepdogs and all! .. We were only supposed to foster Fred for one week for an All-Breed Rescue. ... he's been here for years now .. Isn't it cool how LOVE works?
