Arrival Story: He came into the vet clinic where I work as a stray from the county animal control. He had been out for awhile because he was covered with mud from head to toe, and he was very thin. He just had this look like he just wanted someone to love him. I gave him a good scratch on his cheek and he looked at me like I was his savior. I kept telling my husband about this stray yellow lab at work. Well unbeknowst to me, my husband had planned this big elaborate plot to make him my birthday present. He called my work and told everyone that he was getting the dog for me and for all of them to tell me that he had been adopted. Our local shelter even had to come pick him up and take him to the shelter for a night so I would think he had gone to his new home. Then on my birthday my husband came walking through the door with this big ole oaf of a lab with a big red bow on him. As soon as he saw me he came running to me and had this look of relief in his eyes like he finally knew he was home. I love him so much. He is a wonderful dog. I think he may have been dumped because he couldn't be trained to hunt because he is dreadfully scared of gunshots, and fireworks. But he is everything else a lab should be. We live right on the Fox River in Illinois and his second home is the water. He loves to swim. He is truly a mama's boy though and doesn't like to be more than 5 feet away from me at all times. He was a wonderful gift.

Well yesterday I had to go with my mom to work. I usually love to "go to work" with Mom. But yesterday I had to actually see the doctor. My mom and her co-worker sedated me and put me up on a counter, which was cool cuz I never get to lay on the counters at home. They stretched me all out and took a picture of my hips and lower spine. I guess my mom thought that I was acting a bit painful in my rear sections, and wasn't able to keep up with her and Rylee on the 4-wheeler. Well my hips are fine, not the best, but not awful. My lower spine has some areas of stress though and is what is causing my pain. I have to take medicine now everyday but that's ok cuz I'll eat anything. My mom also found the reason for my fear of gunshots and fireworks--there's 3 slugs of birdshot stuck inside my body from my previous owners irresponsibility. Now she's spoiling me even more!
