Arrival Story:
Mitzie is a very sweet girl who was found living on her own in a cornfield and/or on someone's porch! The good samaritans that found her took a lot of time to try and catch her. She's still quite shy around people, but loves other dogs - she would probably do best in a home already occupied by a dog she can buddy up with.

Bio:
Here is the bio written by those who found her. Mouschi was a stray who wandered onto a farm, probably dropped off by neglectful pet parents. It took her weeks to be able to trust people enough to let them pet her but she eventually came around. She is still timid around people but is leaning to trust them. Mouschi, which means "mouse" in German (named after one of Anne Frank's beloved cats) is also sometimes referred to as Mooch. She loves to play with toys that squeak and is excellent at fetching. Sometimes, when Mooch is feeling especially spunky, she also enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. When left alone with garden tools, cell phones or anything else that she can drag around, she will not hesitate to hide or bury them! This instinct can be fulfilled by giving her treats that she can chew on and then hide for later. This gentle girl is wonderful around children, cats and dogs and loves to have her belly rubbed. It will take an extra-special, patient person to love and care for this extra-special girl. Mouschi's love, loyalty, and look of happiness on her face is more than worth the patience needed to gain her trust. Since we have had her in foster care, she has started to trust the people she considers her humans a bit. It is a gentle pleasure to be jumped on her when she wants to go out, and to see her be out of her shell. Mouchi needs a home with another dog she can play with and learn from. She will learn she is safe and secure by watching how the other dog reacts.
