Arrival Story:
Becker is a service dog in training at Laughing Eyes Kennels in New Mexico. He picked me! He was the very best fit for me. We have completed training together and are not considered a certified team. We passed our PAT with flying colors. Now we are just making sure to keep his training sharp by working with him daily. He is a great dog who loves me and my family.

Becker is a big dog. He is about 27" tall and about 85lbs right now.

I am going to be taking a road trip to meet the lady that I have been training so hard to help. I am sure she is a excited about it as I am. I have been told that it is the same lady that I met last summer, but that was a long time ago. I am sure it will take me a while to get adjusted to things. I hear she lives in the city. I don't really know what that means, but I hear it is loud there. I live in the mountains now, but as long as I have nice people to be around I am sure I will be fine.

My trainer tells me that we will be leaving on a long drive to a place called California. We will be leaving on June 8th. It will take us about two days to get there. When we arrive I will get to work with my new handler there. My trainer will be with me there for the weekend. Then on Sunday she will leave me there with my new handler and my new family. I will get to live with a new mom and dad, and they have two little kids too. I hear they also have something called Guinea Pigs that I am not allowed to touch or eat. So I am interested in seeing what those are! I know I like cats, but I don't chase them. So we will see.

I have been learning lots of new things, and I know I will be able to help my new person with the great things I have learned.

So less than two months to go! I'm excited, aren't you?

Great news!

Although it is not set in stone yet, there is a possibility that Becker might be coming home sooner than we thought. They would also be able to bring him to me if that is the case and do his team training with me at my house, in my town. So this would be really great and save us lots of money! So keep your fingers and toes and paws crossed that this will happen. It would be a big help in many ways!

I got another email this morning. Becker has been going twice a week to an elementary school to help kids learn dog handling skills. So he is not only getting more training, but also exposure to kids of all ages. Since I have two little kids in the house, this is really great for me to hear!

His picture with a little girl helping him Focus is picture two. Taryn says the little girl just loves him, but I can't see how you can't! He is a great dog! lol
