Doesn't like: baths, being brushed, going up steps, going to the groomer, his buddy, Poncho, getting petted instead of him....
Favorite Toy:
his red ball, he uses it for a pillow, also likes the toys you can stuff treats in, and likes to chew up plush toys
Favorite Food:
Anything! He loves Iams dog food, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, (that's the good-for-you stuff). He also eats any little tidbit that he infrequently gets from the table.
Favorite Walk:
Anywhere! He likes to go "see the cows" back in a field near where we live
Arrival Story:
I had a Norwegian Elkhound named Hobie, who went blind when he was about 7 years old. He lived to be almost 12 when he developed senility and had to be put to sleep. Even though Hobie was a handful (he was the most stubborn dog I've ever encountered, partly because I spoiled him so badly) I had my heart set on another Elkhound. I live in Indiana. The closest breeder that met my specifications and had puppies available was in Michigan, about an 8-hour drive from here. Hobie died in November. On January 1st, my parents & I drove to Michigan to pick up Shadrach. We got home to one of the worst, snowiest, iciest winters we've had in a long time in Indiana. What fun it was to housetrain a puppy in that weather (not!). We slid all over the yard. I don't know how many times I fell that winter, but we survived. Shadrach is the total opposite of Hobie in personality. He's a real sweetheart!
Bio:
Shadrach has a "step-brother" now. Poncho, who is probably a little younger than Shad is a Chow-mix. We rescued him from the woods where someone had dumped him and his 3-4 littermates. He was about 6 months old when we got him. He loves Shadrach and likes me a lot, but has never warmed up to people in general.
