Arrival Story: Back in the early years of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, before they became corporate, I was friends and a volunter for them here in So CA. One day I get a call from the Sanctuary, from Silva asking me if I can take another dog, I had 4 at the time , but I was dealing with a cancer dog and a diabetic cat. I was told that this dog was a favor to Kim Bassinger the actress, her sectretary had found her , and they had place d her in a few homes that didn't work out. Samdra was a barker, and pretty agressive. They said itwould be a big favor to them, since Kim was a big donator. Silva said, I know you won't get rid of her if she has problems...then she said...By the way she does not like MEN.!
Well wen went to pick her up, I get out of the car and ny husband stayed in, as soon as I got her in the car she jumped up on Nick and rode all the way home with him, that night she jumped on the bed and they slept together.
She was a physco dog...barking, chewing, growling. She was a real challenge. You'd never know that she was the same girl. WE've had her now for 13 years and Sandra Marie is the girl of the house, and she sure loves her dad.

The Last Forum I Posted In: Gimme some paw
that squirrel thats in our yard. I had mom really worried but today I feel like my old self. Mom has been trying to trick me with my meds..I just eat around the treats and spit thoes meds out.
I ate real good this morning had a big bowl of chicken soup, then went for a ride down the hill to meet my friend Bella that we walk with in the morning. Mom was surprised that I was feeling soo good that we did some hills
we got home just before the storm hit and boy did it hit!
At the Vet mom was reading some stuff about Oatmeal cookies...did you know that
1 Cookie eaten by a 20 lb dog was like eating 3 cheese burgers?? If you ask me I would rather have thoes 3 cheese burgers than 1 lousy cookie. If you eat 1 hot dog it's like eating 6 cheeseburgers...well I told mom forget the cookies just bring on the Cheeseburgers..I would like to know if these were Carls JR, Burger King, or Sonic.
mom called this morning and since everyone knows mom real well they got me in at 8:00 am. Dr D as we call her is vry very nice and has taken care of me for the last 13 yrs. I weighed 29.5lbs I had lost 1 lb since last year. She said my eyes were good, my gums were good and she couldn't feel anything unusual on my body. I had a temperture of 104 , Dr D said I was sick. So I got 3 shots, some yukky stuff shot into my mouth I got my annals suppressed that is really yukky and she sent mom home with 3 different pills to take. She said the shpt of penicillin should whip out any viral.
Dr said I should be feeling better by tomorrow and to make me some Chicken soup.
She told mom that my last blood work 6 month ago was excellant and I didn't need any more blood taken until my anual checkup. So mom was really happy and by the time I got home I was feeling better..

Tomorrow I hope to be back on track and chase some critters in the yard!!
mom is worried cause I have been on the bed for 3 days...when she took me out for my walk, I didn't want to go. I have not eaten very much even though mom has so many differnt food for me and I didn't want any scramble egggs and cheese my favorite.
Mom is really worried casue I don't want to go out I just want to be on the bed. I don't know what is wrong. Mom said she is calling the vet tomorrow and getting me in ASAP. I never miss my walk and car ride. I guess old age is creeping up on me.
Last week I was feeling really good. I was eating like crazy, chasing the squirrels and Arnie and I were running in the yard playing Mad dog.
Maybe it's the cold and all the rain..mom thinks maybe I got bit by a spider cause when she checked my body, I cried by my neck. I hope it's nothing cause I have lots of years left..Mom is really worried I can see it in her eyes...she comes in the room and checks me and tell s me she loves me.
I hope tomorrow I feel better...Mom said I need some food in me cause I feel skinny.
All the treats on the bed and I haven't eaten any.
