Arrival Story:
On Wednesday, August 12th (2009) our neighbor called to ask if we knew who might have a beagle pup. I called around, as she did too, trying to find someone who had lost a pup. When I talked to the neighbor later, she said he was so hungry, that he had pulled a piece of cantaloupe rind out of the compost heap. She gave him a little chicken that she had in the fridge and said she had nothing else to feed him. She only has one cat. So mom offered to bring dog food down for him. Mom met him and when she went home she called more people to see if someone knew of him.
Mom and her son talked and decided that they would take the pup, feeling that Buddy would enjoy a playmate more his age and size. So mom called on Thursday and he had been there, but was not then. She called back in the evening and he was back, so she and Donald picked him up and brought him home.
Donald named him Drake and the vet agreed with mom that he is around 10 months old. The vet receipt printed out October 18, 2008 as his birthday, so mom is going to use that.
When talking with another neighbor, Drake had been seen days earlier with a female beagle, but she has not been seen since.

October's Party

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.
Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

Today is already a day of great remembrances. The King of Rock-n-Roll, Elvis, passed onto that great Music Stage in the Sky in 1977.
Then in 1997, one of the most loving and sweet couples said "I Do" on this day. My Aunt Tina and her late hubby Uncle Dave. They were married for 11 yrs and 8 months, before he was called to Heaven too.
I am so excited; BUT of course, once again, Mom is Bella-Sitting and will not be home until tomorrow. Bella's mommy has to be at work at 4:00 a.m.; so that would make Mom having to be up at 2:00 a.m. to drive there from here. Since Donald is on vacation and Mom would be driving alone, she has decided to stay there overnight!! Of course it would be on MY Day of honor!! That's okay, guilt treats are really Yummy!! BOL
Love to all of you who have sent me Congrats, even a picture that I cannot wait to see on my page, and super gifts. You have this beagle's heart beating with joy and the tail is going crazy!!

Yesterday was my 2nd Gotcha Day. Wouldn't you know it, Mom had to be gone all day and I did not get my treats until today. They were yummy--So I will forgive her!! :)
She did get me a new toy last week, one of those that you put a bottle in. I think she likes to see how long it takes for me to get the bottle out. But Friday, Buddy took mine and his!! He does not play as rough with them as I do, and he just kept them, running around them. He can be so silly. Mom rescued them and put them up. She does not leave them out, or I will demolish them!! As I do all my toys. I dislike squeakers and will tear a toy up just to pull that stupid thing out. Mom has bought me a couple of the toys without the squeaker. They did last longer than the other toys, but I still managed to destroy them too. ;)
Dad said it was hard to believe that I have already been here for 2 years. Where has the time gone? I don't know, I've been too busy playing.
