My new pajamas.......

There is a bit of a problem with my new pajamas! They were fine all day long while I was at daycare. They were fine when I came home and went in my crate for dinner. They were even fine when I went outside to do my business. And, they were nice and toasty warm.
Well, as soon as we started playing last night I knew I was in trouble! Georgie grabbed my back pajama leg and Beanie grabbed the front one and I was buried inside those silly pj's. I tried to work my way out, but I kept tripping over the other front leg. It was awful... I was blinded by the collar and for a while, I though I might be in a strait jacket or something equally awful. Finally, I was able to wiggle my way completely out of them. Fortunately Mom was watching so she realized there was a problem. She says they are about three sizes too big for me. When pajamas fit nicely, and Georgie grabs the back part nothing else moves so she gives up. And, the front legs of my old ones, while a bit too short, are not too long so I don't trip over them.
The worse part was that Mom had left BOTH my old pajamas over at work so she had to rummage around and find something else for me to wear. Toto had a nice turtleneck shirt... it fit okay and the sleeves were exactly right, but it had no back legs and Georgie would grab the back part and pull it right off me. Finally, Mom found an old blue sweater that sort of fit me. At least it was warm, even though my back legs were still not covered. And, for some reason, Georgie doesn't try to pull it off me.
Mom says she is going to have to get out her sewing machine and do some alterations on the new ones. She says if they are tighter then I can't get stuck inside them. We shall see!!

My new job....

Beanie told me it was a good idea if us "pet" dogs could find jobs around here. It sort of makes Mom feel better keeping us around. Well, this morning Julie came home and was looking for a volunteer to come to daycare and keep an Australian Shepherd company. For some reason, I thought she said Australian terrier and, knowing they are about my size, I quickly volunteered. Imagine my surprise when in walked Spice and he was about 10 times my size... I weigh 9 lbs, he weighs 80+ lbs. Oh well, I was game if he was. Anyway, he turned out to be a really nice dog... his Mom said he didn't like big dogs, only small ones and he was sure nice enough to me. I was a bit nervous at first... and Mom was trying to take a photo of us together because he and I are exactly the same color... our hairs are the same color, it's just that he has a pattern to his color and it's different than mine. Anyway, she kept trying and I was getting closer and closer to him. Finally, I got pretty close and she was happy with her photo. Check it out on my page!
But, you don't need to check out the other one with my "mohawk" doo. Tonya was being funny and she made my hair all stick straight up! Then Mom marched in with her camera. Can't a poor, naked guy have ANY privacy in his bath?????

Cold is relative...

I guess how cold it is outside is relative. This afternoon we went down in the lab pen with Mom. It wasn't very warm according to the thermometer, but the sun was shining. And, last week when it was raining so much most of the snow melted away. Besides, Mom brought little Georgie outside today so I could play with her. Soo, I decided I would run around and play, even though it was pretty cold and snowy. I had the most fun when I was in the places where there wasn't any snow, but Mom assures me that Spring will really come eventually. She did mutter something about more snow coming before Spring, though.
I think I figured it out... if there is white snow on the ground the sun shines on it and, just like a mirror, it is bounced back up into the air. If the ground is bare it is dark colored and the dark color absorbes the sun and makes the ground warmer. Works for me!!!

All better now....

I couldn't write anything yesterday cuz I was way to busy making up for lost time and playing with Georgie and Beanie. I am completely all better now... I am not even slightly sore. And, I didn't lick any more glue off my wound, so now Mom says I don't need that cone anymore. Good thing... that was rubbing on my hairless neck and making it red.
Last night Mom finally decided I could spend the whole night in her warm waterbed. Before she was just letting me take naps and stay in there while she was reading before she went to sleep. Well, cuz I was very tired from playing so hard all day long I snuggled up right next to her head and fell asleep. Mom was reading and reading. Finally, she decided it was time for sleep, so she turned off the light. I woke up, so I decided to explore the room by the light of the TV. Mom was watching me cuz she has a laptop and an e-reader and some other stuff in there that she didn't want me to find and chew up. She kept calling me and I would climb up the steps and get back in bed, then I would think of another place to explore and hop off the bed again.
Apparently, Mom wasn't happy with my exploring so she finally picked me up and put me in my crate in the dog room. I will have to remember to fake sleeping longer tonight before I do my exploring!!!!

The rip-out room.....

Today Mom took me over to work before I even had my breakfast!!! And... Georgie didn't come with me, in fact, no one came with me. Then, when Julie came to work Mom grabbed me and ran out the door with me before Julie even got out of her car. Hmmmm, what's this all about??? I guessed that Julie was taking me for a ride??? Sure enough, we rode up the hill and stopped at the clinic next door. Julie took me inside, signed a bunch of papers, and left me with a girl up there. Next thing I knew, I was sleeping! When I woke up my you know what hurt really bad!!! Right after that, Sarah came up from work and got me and brought me back to work. Mom put me in a crate in her grooming room. It was pretty warm in there cuz she had a heater JUST FOR ME!!! I was still sleepy so I took a nap. Once in a while, when Mom wasn't looking, I took a lick or two!!! After Mom got done grooming she picked me up and put me in the other room. But... she took a look and apparently I had licked all the glue out of my incision... who knew I wasn't supposed to do that??? Sooo, Mom got out her surgical glue (now WHY does she have that stuff here????) She put some more glue on me and then she found a stupid plastic cone thingie in the kennel and put that over my head!!! It was sooo bad I couldn't even lie down and relax. Finally, it was time to go home and Mom carried me. She was feeding everyone so I started drooling and staring so she even fed me! Ya know, that cone thingie didn't even stop me from being able to eat? Amazing. Soo, now I am out with the other dogs. I actually feel pretty good and I was playing with my toys, but it's kind of hard to walk good when I have that hurt down there where it really hurts!!! Mom said I can go to bed early tonight and I will feel better tomorrow. I hope she's right!!! She said when we are babies like I am we heal fast from that surgery. (I am 6 months old now, I am NO BABY!) And, when I am out here I don't even have to wear the cone thingie!!!

More outside activity???

Mom just doesn't seem to learn... I do not want to play outside in the snow!!! Today Skye was here and she and Mom decided to take us all outside. Well, it wasn't as warm as it was last week! The snow was frozen so I could walk on top, but the wind was blowing and it was freezing out there. I tried standing in one place... it took them forever before they finally got the message and Mom picked me up and put me under her coat. Skye was complaining that I never ran around and played when I was outside...Skye, with her heavy sweatshirt and warm winter jacket on over that! She also had some nice, fleece lined boots. I was bare footed with only my fleece pajamas on...brrrrrrr! Hmmmm, wonder why I don't want to run around out there???
Now I am back in the warmer house. Me and Georgie are playing. Pretty soon we are going to be very tired and need to take a nap with Mom in the warm water bed... now, that is activity I can deal with just fine!!!

Running in the snow is NO FUN!!!

This afternoon Mom didn't have to go to work cuz technically, she is still on vacation! Did you know that I went on vacation too? I went down to the handler guy's kennel. It was pretty fun, I got to stay with Condi. He did put me on a diet, but Mom says I look even better now. Finally my teeth are all in and my ears are done flopping around. They are standing straight up!!
Today Mom took me out with the older guys to run in the snow. They are always talking about how much fun that is. Frankly, I did not find anything fun at all about it at all!!! It is freezing cold and very, very wet! That stuff is deep, too. I stayed on the path the whole time. Even that was cold and wet. I guess I am more of a Summer dog!!!
BTW... now that Winston is not here Mom promised me I could sleep in the water bed. Now, that is pretty, pretty nice!!! I snuggled way down under the covers and almost had to purr it was so warm and comfy! Mom let me stay in there all night long cuz I already discovered how to climb up and down the steps. She was worried that I might try to jump off the bed and break my leg or something. She must think I am stupid!!! And, since I am now a big dog and so is Georgie, we get to stay out in the house with Toto, Ali and Beanie. We don't even have a pen anymore! Mom did do some muttering when we were playing tug with her shoes, but I guess she will learn to pick up her stuff!!! Gotta go, Georgie has a slipper now!!!!

Going on vacation....

Mom said that me and Condi and Walter and little Georgie are going on vacation for a couple of weeks. We are leaving this Friday and are going to be staying at the handler guy's kennel. I have never been there, well, none of us have ever been there. Mom says it will be fun for us cuz we will all start learning how to be show dogs. Hmmm, who said I wanted to be a show dog... I wanna be a BED DOG!! Besides I don't think they will let me wear my jammies at a dog show. I AM wearing my jammies at the handler guy's kennel, though. Jammies are for BED DOGS!!! Bed dogs sleep all day and all night, all snuggled under the covers.
Mom says she will be picking up me and little Georgie on their way home from vacation, but that Walter and Condi are staying at the handler guy's for longer. Walter is going to be a show dog first, and Condi is half owned by the handler guy and it's his turn to play with his half. Mom's half has to go along, too, cuz two halves make a whole in dogs!!! It's okay, I won't miss her cuz I play most with Georgie cuz we can't go out in the snow much... I have no hair and she is tooo little. Mom did put me out this morning but it was pretty darn snowy and COLD!!!

Christmas is kinda nice!

I really like this Christmas holiday! Mom came home early on Wednesday cuz it was her day off. She came early yesterday cuz it was Christmas Eve. Today she went only for a few hours, then came right home. She said she gets out early again tomorrow AND on Sunday! How cool is that?
Because it was a bit warmer the last few days I have been able to spend time outside with Condi and Walter and the lab puppy. Us Southern dogs got colder faster, so Mom let me and Condi come inside and play with the rest of the dogs in here. We had a ton of fun chasing and being chased all through the house! Then, last night, we all got Christmas presents!!! I didn't know that presents came with Christmas!!!! I got a new bone, and a new chew toy and Mom gave us each a bully stick. I was in with Georgie... she tried to take both of them, but I finally grabbed mine and chewed and chewed and chewed. In fact, I even woke up in the night and chewed! Mom took the ones away from the big dogs but she left ours with us. Neat, huh? Condi told me she had to go in a crate and chew hers because she kept stealing Walter's and the labs and lying on them while she chewed hers. Mom says she is a female dog!!! Not me, I am truly a gentleman, well, I am gentle until I do my zoomies thru the house!!!

We are thankful that we have met so many wonderful dogs here and that we are all friends and enjoy each other's company. We have enjoyed the "real" visits we've had and hope to have many more in the coming year. We have enjoyed reading everyone's diaries and are glad that we aren't the only "naughty AND nice" pups in the world.
