Leaving tomorrow....

I am sooo excited!! We are leaving tomorrow for our camping trip. I saw Mom pack some t-shirts for me, she must be worried about me getting a sunburn? I am pretty nervous, though. I have never been in a kayak or a canoe...what if I get seasick?? And, what if the bugs chase me all around cuz I don't have any hair? What if I can't get to sleep in the tent, after all, I am used to Mom's warm waterbed and nice comforter. And, last night they were talking about fishing and Sarah said I would make good bait... what does that mean??? And, what if I have to go potty??? I never went potty when I was on my leash before... Oh my, I sure hope I like camping!!!!!!!

Camping trip for ME????????

Wow, Mom is seriously considering taking me along on the camping trip. She said I will have to stay on a leash and when we go kayaking or canoeing I will have to wear the lifejacket. Not a problem... She decided that with our new tent it is big enough and has TWO doors so I can't sneak out if one opens. I guess it was my endearing attitude today... I am at work and I followed her around everywhere, and kept staring at her with my BIG eyes... sure hard to resist me when I am like that! Besides, when she packed the stuff for US dogs yesterday I noticed she put THREE dog food dishes in the bag. Hehehe... I'm going camping!!!!

Another weekend already gone???

My, time flies! It is already the end of another weekend. They go pretty fast when Skye is here! And, this weekend it rained lots so we didn't get outside that much. We did go down last night and play with those great splash balls that Mom got us. Skye was throwing them around for us and we all had one. Today was kind of exciting... after Skye left it was pouring so Mom decided it was a good nap day. Well, last week she brought some little Zebra finches home from work and put them in OUR bedroom. She says she likes to listen to them in the morning. Well, Skye has a new kitten and she brought it here to stay this weekend so Mom put the bird cage up on a hook from the ceiling. Soo, before our nap she put them back on the table where they were.
Mom was napping and suddenly something whizzed by me and Beanie. It sounded like a HUGE bumblebee, so I jumped off the bed to see where it went. Beanie went one way and I went the other and low and behold... it was one of the birds!! I guess their door had opened when Mom moved them? Mom woke up when Beanie chased it right over her face so then she started chasing it, too. Finally, she threw her shirt over it and caught it and put it back in the cage. Whew... I thought we were going to have to chase it around all night long!!!

Ahh, weekends are great!

I had a pretty good weekend, I must say! Mom and Skye were having that HUGE yard sale with some friends and I got to go TWO of the three days. Unlike Beanie, I LOVE meeting new people, and some of those people even brought dog biscuits with them!!! It was pretty hot out there so Skye kept letting me and Toto take naps with her in a HUGE canvas crate Mom won at a raffle. She was trying to sell that, too, but no one wanted it with us in it!
Last night Mom and Skye took all five of us Cresteds down into the lab yard to play. We had a blast! That new pool had warmed up a bit so we were all hopping in it, and Skye had found some "splash" balls that were great for us to play with. Mom and Skye took some chairs down there and they relaxed while we played and played. I must say, we all slept really well last night!!! Mom took a million photos... I have some but there are also some with me on Crystal and Barney's pages.
AND... Mom got a HUGE new canoe and she and Skye decided I can go with them next weekend, (which comes really quick, cuz today is, afterall, Monday already!) I am soo excited. Gee, I hope I like canoeing!!!

I sure AM the calm one...

Ahhh, life is good. I am liking having my brother and sister here. When I want to play with someone there are right there, but when I want to relax and settle down, they go off and play by themselves. Pretty cool! In fact, I am still the only crested pup here that gets to sleep in the bed with Mom. That is really neat cuz in the mornings I burrow down deep under the blankies and she doesn't even remember I am in here. When she comes home at noon to let everyone out, I just mosey on out of my blankies and she takes me back to work. Speaking of work, I am now the store dog, too, since Winston isn't here anymore. After all the grooming is done and the other girls go home I go out there with Mom. She puts a nice blankie on one of the chairs and that is MY spot. I sit there and help her do some work or nap a little, then we go along home.
Speaking of work... when Barney and I are over there he is racing all over the place checking everything out... not me, I just mosey on in to the break room and Julie or someone else is always willing to hold me. I am not telling Barney about that... he doesn't know how comforting it is to be held yet. I hope he never finds out!!! I did notice that tonight when Mom was lying on her bed he hopped up and got really close to the back of her neck before he snuggled down. He used to just lie down at the foot of the bed. Gee, I hope he's not learning how warm and soft and comfy Mom is... I want her all for myself!!!

Mom still loves me...

Whew, Barney has been here almost a whole week now and I was pretty worried about my status here. Well, I am here to tell you that Mom still loves me, in fact, I think she loves me the bestest!!! Barney is pretty cool, and he plays nice with me, but he is a boy dog and he chases all the girl dogs all the time!!! Plus, he keeps marking EVERYTHING over at work. I tried to tell him that he shouldn't do that, but he wouldn't listen to me!
The other night I was a bit worried cuz when we went to bed, Barney was in there with us!!! Well, we all settled down to sleep and he didn't! He was marching all around on the bed and kept pulling the blankets off Mom. I was just lying there, chuckling to myself, cuz I KNEW Mom would NEVER put up with those shenigans. Sure enough, pretty soon Mom jumped out of bed and off she went with Barney. Hehehe... I just burrowed deeper under the blankies!!!!!!
And, tonight I overheard her talking to the handler guy. They were talking about Barney and me and Mom said she was sure happy I was such a calm and well behaved boy cuz Barney was a wild one!!! Hehehe!!! Tonight when we went down to the lab pen Barney and Chantel played keep away when it was time to come back to the house. Finally, Mom got Barney, then Crystal ran down there again and while she was getting Crystal and Chantel, Barney went back down. She was all exhausted by the time she rounded them all up! Not me, me and Beanie were calmly waiting up by the kitchen door. Those other guys must not know they would get treats when they come back from down there!

Stuff from our trip...

First of all, yes, I did get VERY carsick!! It was very bad and I felt awful. I must have puked about 6 times... yuck! But, fortunately, by the time we finally stopped I was feeling better and could even eat my dinner. AFter that day I never even felt sick again, hehehe! But, Mom forgot to give me my medicine on Thursday night, er, Friday morning, so I was limping really badly. And, did you know that the grass down South is very, very dry and stabs your little feet??? I don't know how you pupsters from down there can stand it??? Walking on grass up here is soft and cool, just like walking on a thick, shag carpet. We love our soft grass!!! Speaking of walking on grass, when we stayed at the second motel there was a HUGE rabbit running around outside in the field. I tried to catch it, but Mom wouldn't let me off my leash. Drats, I would have caught it, too!!!
Mom said it was supposed to take us 11 hours down and 11 hours back. Well, she forgot it was Summer and road construction time, and it was Mother's day weekend so it took us 16 hours down and 13 hours back!! That is a lot of driving, er, well, it's a lot of time spent in the car!!! And, the wind was blowing most of the way. But, there are some really nice rest stops along the way and we utilized them!!! They are clean and shady and it was pretty nice. Only once did Mom see someone not picking up after their dog so she walked over and handed them a bag. That didn't leave them much choice, hehehe!
And, the two motels we stayed at were very nice, too. One made Mom pay $20 extra for each of us, which was a rip-off, but it was clean and quiet and so it wasn't too bad. The other one let us park in a special place cuz we had the other dogs in the car and Mom didn't want them disturbed during the night. That one was also clean and nice and only charged Mom for one dog... not bad, not bad at all! I guess Hilda didn't count? They both gave Mom rooms on the bottom floor so she could keep an ear on the dogs in the car. They NEVER made a peep! I ended up having to sleep in my crate both nights cuz I had trouble settling down in a strange room. I didn't mind, I only whined a little bit before I fell asleep.
Finally, on this trip it worked out so Mom could get gas in all the cheaper states... every little bit helps ya know! And, they brought lots of food for themselves so they only bought breakfast and a couple of great coffee drinks from Micky d's along the way. It was funny cuz they discovered those drinks by mistake... Laurie wanted a shake and the shake machine was broken so she got one. It looked sooo good that Mom got one, too. After they kept getting them after that cuz they loved them!

Back to normal almost.

Well, this morning we all slept a bit late! Finally, me and Mom and Toto woke up and went outside. Mom got Barney and Chantel and Condi, and they came out with us, too. Then, we had breakfast and Mom went to work and got Ali and Beanie and Crystal. Boy, were they glad to be home!! We all went down into the lab yard, but it was FREEZING cold and wet down there. That grass grew tons and it was hard to see anything thru it. Plus, Mom's camera stopped cuz she had taken 9999 photos and it needed to be reset! Soo, we came home, warmed up, and went right back down there.
Now we are relaxing while Mom puts stuff away. I am pretty happy with Barney, he is playing nicely with me and he doesn't even mess up Mom's house. She said it looks like he can sleep in the bed with me tonight!
About the trip... it was very hot! Even I was panting and the AC was on in the car! When we staying in the motel rooms that was pretty fun. Me and Hilda got lots of good stuff to eat, and Hilda got to sleep on the bed. The first night it was 1:30 when we finally stopped cuz there was tons of construction and it took TWO hours longer than it should have. Mom and Laurie were all upset cuz that meant we were gonna be late on Friday, which was going to mess up the whole trip, so Mom kept driving. Well, that first night I couldn't get comfy in that strange bed. I kept getting up and wanting to explore the room. Mom finally went out to the car and got my crate, then I went right to sleep!!! After we left Barney's house we were supposed to take a leisurely trip home. Well, with all us dogs in the car and all that heat, Mom didn't dare stop anywhere! Sooo, we didn't get to go to any stores at all, HRUMPH!!! So, I didn't get any presents and couldn't bring any presents home, either. Booo! Maybe Mom will take me and Hilda shopping around here? It's sure cold enough today! I have a sneaking feeling Mom isn't going to drive anywhere today, though... she looks a little tired. She says she is getting too old for these trips!!! But, now that they know I am a good traveler, maybe I can convince Julie to take me on their next vacation???? Could be fun!!! I vote we go to Florida in the middle of February!!! Then I could get a suntan early!

I'm HOME!!!

Phew... we went 1500 miles in 48 hours.... man, that is moving fast! But, we made it. This morning when we left somewhere in Southern Virginia it was 94 degrees...right now it is 44 degrees!! Mom had to find one of my jackets for Barney to wear!
On the way home we stopped at the handler guys kennel and we picked up Condi and Chantel. Chantel is Crystal's sister and you know Condi is MY sister. Chantel was pretty car sick (SO WAS I, but only the first night!), so she was resting when we got home, but Condi was happy to be back here so she was doing zoomies. Barney was happy to be out of the car so he was doing zoomies, too. I was happy to see my sister and brother so I was really doing zoomies! Mom was just watching and laughing. I can't wait until tomorrow so we can do our zoomies in the big yard or in the lab pen. Cool!!!
But, now we gotta go to bed cuz we are really, really tired!!!

Packing is FUN!!!

I helped Mom pack for our trip tonight... it was sooo much fun. She put her suitcase right in the middle of the bed and started putting stuff in it. When she would go get something, I would carefully take something out. I took out her pj's and put them under the pillow cuz that is where she usually leaves them. I put the socks at the foot of the bed cuz that's where her feet usually are. I wasn't sure where to put her jeans so I just climbed into the suitcase to take a nap on them until she came back to tell me where to put them. Would you believe she yelled at me??? What a spoilsport she is.
Tomorrow I am going to have a bath so I will be all clean and shiny for my trip. We aren't leaving until after Mom and Laurie get out of work. Gee, I wonder when she is planning to feed me my supper??? Probably she will make me wait until we stop driving for the night.
Mom already put Beanie and Crystal in the kennel.... hehehe, they have to stay in there an extra day while me and Toto lounge here at home. Mom muttered something about making sure she comes home to a clean house. She hates to come home to a dirty house, silly person! Soo, after she mowed all the lawns she cleaned the whole house. She says she needs to get away to rest up!!! Sure, driving 1500 miles in three days will certainly rest her up!!! Maybe she will use her cruise control and nap along the way???
Speaking of napping, it's bedtime now! Catch ya later.
