Come Saturday Morning....

I cannot wait until Saturday morning cuz Mom will be home and so will I!!!. Julie is going to bring us home first thing in the morning, but I guess Mom is coming home way, way early in the morning as well. Probably she will be sleeping and me and Beanie will have to jump right into bed with her for a while! I have been missing that warm waterbed for all the time she's been gone! I guess I will limp a bit so she will know that the cold kennel did no good for my poor amputated hip!!!! Maybe next time I can go on vacation with her???
Oh well, she better have bought me something really super!!! I can't wait until Saturday morning!!!

A very busy weekend so far....

Well, Toto's friend Skye came to spend the night here last night. I guess I like her pretty much cuz she is very nice to me. In fact, she picked ME to sleep with her and Toto. That was pretty fun cuz unlike Mom, Skye sleeps quietly so I could snuggle up against her back, under the covers, all night long. Mom would have turned over and over and over about 10 times, disturbing my sleep each time!
Before we went to bed we spent the whole evening playing in the living room with Skye and the four babies. All of us, (except Beanie... he was in the kitchen with Mom cuz he is a sissy), played and played and Skye took lots of photos of us. She taught me how to pick up that big dumbbell that Mom had in her dog stuff. Skye said I could go to a show and retrieve it over a jump if I was really good. I reminded her that I have a bad leg and can never jump over a jump. Oh well, she took my photo, anyway. Me and Ali have decided to take over the new dog bed cuz the old one was getting quite crowded. We had a very hard time keeping those baby puppies out of our bed, especially Louie and Tanner. In one photo, on Ali's page, Tanner came along and got right on top of Ali and me. All you could see of Ali was her little nose down underneath him.
Oh, I forgot... today Skye took me to work and gave me a bath. Then, cuz Mom was busy grooming the paying dogs, Julie gave me a nice shave and a haircut. I paid her two bits!!! (NO, I didn't say two bites!!!)

New Jammies...

Today my new Winter Jammies came!!! This time Mom ordered them from a lady who has cresteds so she figured they would fit me better... sure enough, they do!!!
Mom got four pairs of them and she told the lady to pick the fabrics... she did good! We got a blue camo one, a green soccer ball one, a blue paw print one and a multicolored penguin one. The cuffs are way longer and, best of all, Mom told her I have VERY long legs so she made the legs long enough for me! Too long and we trip over them, too short and my ankles get chilled.
When they came in the mail Mom came home and got me and Barney to model them. She took photos to put on our pages. Check them out... they are made of thick, warm, snuggly fleece. And, there are knit bands all over... around the legs, the neck and the belly. Neato!
But... there was a problem. After we modeled them Mom left me and Barney out in the daycare yard. When she came to get us, Barney had been attacked by his jammies. The paw prints walked all over him, hehehe! He was stuck with the back legs around his neck and the front legs somewhere over his head! Mom said she thinks they might be a tad too big for him, but... that is NOT a problem. I will keep ALL the new ones and he can have my three old ones. They are only slightly worn and they are a tad too small for me. Those two tads will equal out and they will (and do) fit him perfectly!
Hehehe... I get the NEW ONES!!!

My cheek is NOT swollen....

Mom said I had to write this diary tonight cuz all my pals are going to think I really DO have a swollen jaw. I don't... it was my TONGUE stuck in my cheek cuz I had a piece of grass in there and I was using my tongue to move it around. Okay???
Anyway, today Mom finished the storm windows. Since she was working in our dog room she made us all stay outside. When she opened the door to let us in she discovered it was warm and sunny outside. Silly Mom, she thought it was getting warmer cuz of the new storm windows!!!
Because it was so nice she decided to take us ALL down to the lab yard. Usually she takes us in groups but she was brave today, I guess. Only Toto stayed in the house cuz he can be snippy with Barney and Beanie. Not me, I am not snippy with ANYONE!
I had a great time. I didn't do as much running as usual... I mostly explored down there. Didn't find anything too great though. Mom got some more photos for me and Barney's ugly dog contest. Sadly, I am still winning!

One year aniversary coming up this weekend....

Hey, Mom was just remembering that it was ONE year ago this weekend that she and the handler guy came down to North Carolina to get me. Cool! Actually, she said it was cool that weekend, I really don't remember. I do remember they left me and Condi in the car in our crate when they slept in the motel on the way home and they wrapped blankets around our crate. We were sure toasty warm, hehehe!
What a year it has been. I have discovered snow and kayaking and camping and lots of other stuff as well. I have had major surgery on my leg and now I don't even have a limp! I have learned how to talk to Mom so she will play with me, and I have learned how to pretty much get my own way when I need to.
I have learned how wonderful heated waterbeds are and how to burrow under the quilts really well! I have also learned how to swim!
Gee, I wonder what the next year will have in store for me. Hope I can learn lots more new stuff as well! It's fun to be a dog here!

Mom was very busy yesterday. She was cleaning the house lots... she said something about her knee feeling perfect so she was taking advantage of it. Well, for a long time she made us stay outside in the nice, warm Fall sunshine. Finally, she had our room cleaned so she let us back inside. I guess I was special cuz I got to stay out and help her clean (yes, Toto was out, too, cuz he IS special!) It was HARD WORK!!!
First I had to rearrange all those dirty dog rugs she had in front of the washer. I was going to just lie down on them but... after all that rain and mud they were just plain too dirty! So, I moved them all around in the kitchen to get them under the table so they wouldn't be in the way. Next, I helped with the trash. My job was to sort thru it and make sure Mom wasn't gonna throw anything out that she shouldn't. You know, sometimes stuff can fall right off the desk and land in that trash can... well, I emptied it to make sure there wasn't anything good in there.
Then, Mom said we were having an overnight guest. I LOVE overnight guests, so I helped her in the guest room. I tested the dog beds she had put in there for our guest's dogs and announced them fine! I also drank some of their water to make sure it was fresh enough for them. It was.
By now, Mom had taken all the rugs out of the dryer so I helped her spread them out on the floor. They were all warm and snuggly so I decided to put them in a big pile and rest for a while on them instead. Hrumph, Mom put me in my crate! But, it was dinner time so that was fine.
When the guest came we were all welcoming her and visiting with her. I ran into the bathroom and got down the guest towels and brought it to her so she would know it was for her. I didn't even leave any yellow stains on them, either! I am SOOO helpful!!

A Dogster Diary of the Day pick????

Wow, I was so thrilled and honored to be one of the Diary dog picks of the day this morning. It's so very exciting and wonderful! I was in Doggy Heaven until my MEAN brother Barney pointed out that he IS the Dogster Diary of the Day and HIS photo is right up there with the big guys... I am only one of his court.
Oh well, I am still thrilled and honored and happy to be a Diary Daily Pick... now I am going to go PICK on BARNEY!!!!

Our Ugly Dog Contest...

Hrumph... Mom decided that Barney and I should have an ugly dog contest. I don't know why Barney is even trying cuz I am sure to win it, hands down. Hey, wait a minute... did I just call myself ugly here??? Ooops!
Well, you pals check out my two photos and his two. I am at least working on some serious ugly facial expressions in mine... he is just looking normal with a bit of 5 o'clock shadow on his face.
Hey, Beanie just said he wants to enter, too! Yeah, right, Mom just deletes all his ugly photos... she doesn't put them on his Dogster page cuz it might hurt his psychie... I personally don't think he has a psychie!!!!
Hey, I wonder what the prize is gonna be... I need to know that before I submit any more photos!!!!!!

2498 and counting....

Hey, with just TWO more visitors I will have 2500 and Mom will give me a bully stick!!! That is pretty exciting.
Today Mom made some changes in the poodle room so we would be warmer this Winter. And, she took the AC out of the window, too. I guess she forgot to check the thermometer... it was 86 degrees when she did all that!!! She gave Barney and I airline crates so they will be warmer for us. I can understand one for Barney but I guess she forgot that I sleep in that heated waterbed all night!!! Oh well, I will be warmer when I go in there to eat my dinner, right?
Anyway, while she was fixing our room she made all of us stay outside. Would you believe it was TOO HOT out there??? I had to stay with Toto in the side pen cuz he and I still think Ali is in heat. Beanie got to go out with her and Georgie cuz he knows she isn't in heat! But, tonight we are all together in the living room with Mom and none of us think she is in heat! Soo, I guess we will all get to sleep in the bedroom tonight. It's hard to believe that last night we had to go to bed early cuz it was only 58 in our house and tonight it is 72 still. Guess we can stay up late tonight??? That could be fun, HEY, we can look at the Harvest Moon!!! Hope Mom doesn't try to sing that song while we look at it... that could be ugly!

My Howlaween photo is finally here...

I am pretty sure my Mom is getting lazy. Since I already had my camo pj's on, she just plunked a hat on me, grabbed a toy duck and a toy pistol and snapped away. I did think the Fall leaves were a nice touch, but, those were in the chair anyway before we started. Oh well, I suppose I should be happy I got a new photo... some of my family had to use their last year's ones. I would have preferred a real gun, like a shotgun since any respectable duck hunter uses one of those. Mom has one, but she was afraid someone would see her taking me and the gun down to the big yard and think the worst. Any one would know that she wasn't really going duck hunting with me, hehehe!
It is a yucky day today so I don't expect any fun things to happen around here. Mom was saying she needed to go to the store and get some paper so she could print our new photos to put up at work. Maybe I can go with her??? I bet she won't let me cuz it's one of those cloudy, humid days where it would be too hot for me IF the sun broke thru the clouds. Ahh, I will just have to nap then!
