Weekend guests again...

Seems that Lola and her New Mom are coming to spend the weekend, starting tomorrow. Her New Mom is going to some Labrador shows down in MA. so she will be spending the nights here. Lola is coming cuz she is going to stay with Jones for the Summer.
What does this have to do with me, you may ask? Well, when we have guests, they need to walk thru the corner of OUR dog room to get to the guest room. Of course, most of us have to bark at them every time they walk thru. Some of us even have to bark at them when they roll over in bed during the night, BOL!
If someone is just here for an overnight Mom takes the barkers all into HER bedroom and we all sleep together in there. As you can well imagine, TEN dogs (oops, now ELEVEN with Jethro), sleeping with Mom doesn't leave much room in the bed for Mom, hehehe!
Well, since I sleep in the bedroom with Mom ANYWAY, I don't have any problems like being moved over to the boarding kennel with those barkers, BOL! I get to stay in my normal place, and sleep in my normal bed like always. It's nice being a special dog!
Oh yeah, I also got a nice groom this week just to show off my svelte figure and lovely dark suntan. Poor Barney is still a bit pudgy and still a bit pasty, hehehe!

Almost a semi-annual event!!

Mom had to really hustle to get me a diary entry today. She just realized if she DIDN'T, it was going to be SIX MONTHS between my entries.
Now, really, how in the world does she expect I can blog about my exciting life IF she doesn't help me... those missing thumbs are a real problem when it comes to typing, ya know!
Anyway, both Barney and I went along over to work on Friday, hoping to get some of the winter shag shaved off our hairless bodies. Mom was pretty good, she got us shaved off really quick, then put us in an expen until they could get a chance to bathe us.
Yup, you guessed it, we went home at 5pm, minus a bath! It was okay, I, for one, didn't need a bath since my bod has been covered up all Winter. Sure, my crest was a bit greasy, but perhaps I can get it rinsed off when we finally get to go kayaking soon, I hope.
I was amazed that in just two sunny days I got my beautiful, black suntan back!! Mom got us some great cot type beds for the porch...they are HUGE (so that Ajax or Quincy won't squash them, I guess), and we can stretch out fully in the sun. We all stayed out for the TWO sunny days, then had to hibernate again when the snow came on Friday.
And, drumroll, please.... when my pajamas finally came off from the Winter, Mom was totally amazed and shocked that my weight was almost PERFECT!!! Almost because she now has to INCREASE my food, just a bit since she says my spine is showing slightly. GOLLY, I have NEVER had a perfect weight!!!!!!
Barney is slightly pudgy... remember his diary last Spring where he was expounding on how physically fit he was and how flabby and soft I was???? Ohhh KAY!

Holy Smokes, JUNE??????

I knew Momsie was behind with my diaries, but I just noticed the last one was in JUNE!!!! That was way, way last Summer, now it is Winter here! Mom tried to say she wrote a bunch of them and they disappeared, but I know that is NOT TRUE!
I guess it just goes to show how boring my life is. Same old, same old. At least this is Sunday and we DO get to go play in the lab pen on Sundays. I was worried cuz Julia went home at noon today and I assumed Mom wouldn't take us down there.
But, she did, I raced all around and I had fun! No photos, though, for some reason???
Tomorrow is MY day to go over to work for my Christmas photo. I don't know what I will wear yet but I sure hope it isn't the same as Barney...he said he had a real electrifying experience!!!!

Better than a trip to the store!!!!

Wow, yesterday Mom let ME go kayaking with her and Julia and Beanie. She said it was a little too hot for Toto's black coat and since Julia was taking Barney, I got to go with Beanie!!
I must say, it WAS a little too hot!!! That Summer sun was just beating down on my poor back. I was so hot I bet you would have fried an egg on my back!!!! Mom did keep putting some pond water on me, but even that water was warm.
After we went a whole long ways around the pond, we stopped in the shade under some trees for a while. It was MUCH cooler there, especially when Mom poured some of her cold water on my back. Finally, though, we heard some thunder and then Mom even saw some lightening so we had to go back off the pond quickly. Of course, now that we were leaving the sun was suddenly hidden behind all the storm clouds, and there was an almost cold wind blowing.
Oh well, even though we had to stop early I still had a great time. Beanie was happy, too cuz he said Toto always gets in the front of the kayak and he can't see any of the sights over Toto's big head. I was nice and stayed behind Beanie since MY head is big enough so I could see OVER Beanie's tiny, little head!

NO trip to the store!!!

Well, figures, the sun came out brightly and the temperature went up to 78 degrees and Mom left ME home!! She came home with a nice, new dog bed for Ajax. I asked her what she got for me and she stammered and stuttered and finally said I could have some of her gummy bears.
NICE Mom, huh?? Actually, there is no way, no how that Ajax should have gotten a new dog bed...just this morning he climbed up on MY nice camping dog bed with the metal legs and BROKE IT!!! It is now FLAT, FLAT and SMUSHED FLAT!! He is way, way too FAT to be on MY bed!
Mom said the new bed is cuz he is way, way too fat to sleep on MY bed...a little late Momsie dear!

Diary Pick, whoo hooo!

Hey, it has come to my attention that I am a diary pick today!!! We DIDN'T get an email for some reason, but since Hershey was nice enough to send me a rosette, I found out I was picked.
I am now going to have a special day!! Mom is going to the big store in the big town up the road a piece and she said I could go with her cuz it's raining and it won't be too hot for me.
And, the one who gets to go ALWAYS gets something special, so that means I will be getting something special, hehehe!
I will write more later and tell you what I got special!

Visiting the ole swimming hole...

There is a little brook that runs right behind Mom's kennel and off thru the woods behind our back lawn. In the olden days Mom used to take the labs swimming in that brook but it's been quite a few years since she was back there.
After the yard sale, Julia wanted to go to the brook so she and Mom took me and Crystal and off we went. They had to chop down a whole bunch of weeds to get to the water, but we finally made it. Whew, was it ever cold!!!
The brook is very small but there were a whole bunch of fishies swimming in it!!! Julia and I tried to catch some but we didn't have any luck at all cuz they were just plain TOO fast for us. Next time we need her net, BOL!
After our wading experience we went off down to the big yard to check out the pond and see the fishes there. They were fine, but for some reason, there aren't many frogs this year. In fact, we didn't even see ONE SINGLE FROGGY!
After we did some running and playing we came home and had supper. I am tired now!!!

Sleepless in Charlestown...

For some reason Mom has stopped letting me sleep in her warm waterbed. It all started when Toto left some food in his crate after his dinner. You see, I am ALWAYS hungry. So, when Mom went in there to put the other guys to bed I raced into Toto's crate and she shut me in.
Well, apparently I have been disturbing her sleep because she slept great ALL night long and woke up cheerful and happy the next morning. So, that night, I was still hungry so I raced into Toto's crate again. Yup, she shut me in again, and I stupidly did not complain since I got to eat his left over food again.
This has continued for the last month or so. A couple of times on the weekends Mom has gone to take a nap and let me sleep with her. When we wake up, she says she is now reminded WHY I am sleeping in my crate, BOL!
I guess my snuggling down under her blankets is different when it is hot and stuffy at night. She does seem to appreciate it during the Winter when it is freezing cold, but, now that it's Summer it's a different story, I guess.
Frankly, I do not mind. I can sleep ever so much better when I am in Toto's crate, with his nice sleeping pad, and no one rolls on me or kicks me while I am sleeping.
I wake up all happy and cheerful, BOL!!!

I'm HOME!!!

I finally had to come home cuz Adrianna and I were both getting VERY, VERY tired! We played and played and played. My favorite game was Restaurant cuz she fed me in that game, BOL!
I had so much fun visiting that they even let me sleep overnight AND I got to sleep right in Adrianna's bed with her. It was pretty comfy, that's for sure. And, her dad read us a bedtime story, too.
They took some photos for my page but her Mom needs to email them to my Mom before she can put them on my page. Soon, I hope!
I guess Mom really missed me... she went into the bathroom and her freshly laundered towels were still hanging on the towel rack. Not to worry, I just dragged them out into the kitchen, like normal, so she now knows I am home, BOL! Mom asked me if I dragged Adrianna's towels into their kitchen. I'm not telling, hehehe!

Diary Pick AND visiting my friend!!!

Wow, today is going to be a very, very busy day!!! First thing, I got an email and I am a diary pick for today. That is normally enough excitement for one day but it gets even BETTER.
Mom was drinking her coffee this morning and waking up (maybe??). Suddenly she got a text message and it was for me, too!! It was Julie and she said her friend is coming to get me at 10 am so I can spend the day with Adrianna. She also told me to pack my overnight bag!
OMD... can it get any better???? I don't even have to have a bath cuz Mom got me all groomed yesterday.
I gotta go now and rest so I will be all full of energy for my visit. We are gonna play ALL DAY LONG!!!!
