Sun Sign: Badges: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: December 7th 2005
Likes: LALO loves cats, other dogs, loves to be walked and tummy rubbed

Pet-Peeves: Loud noises as I found out when I clapped my hands to get his attention

Favorite Toy: Loves to play with balls and be held and cuddled. He is a regular squeeze ball

Favorite Food: So far we are feeding him Merricks kibbles but I am sure that we will spoil him with home cooking

Favorite Walk: Lalo loves long walks. VERY energetic. He is very interested in everything and I think that he appreciates not being caged up. He discovered "roadruuners" and as with Pita tries to make a game of chasing them and can outrun most of them

Best Tricks: Sit, stay, walk on leash, up and come. Also we discovered that giving Lalo a treat is no problem. I can toss a treat from across the room and he snatches it without a miss! How awesome. I can have my back to him and back hand a treat and he catches it

Arrival Story: The volunteers of HARBOR SHELTER in San Pedro, California (Los Angeles County) have been supporters of our previous rescues from Harbor Shelter and were heartbroken that my other rescue had suddenly and mysteriously died at the Animal Hospital where He was being treated for a torn leg ligament. They sent us photos and bios of other dogs that were red listed (which means they die within 24 hours). We viewed the dogs available and since our Primary Chow, Pita at 14 had lost two dogs within the last 6 months, we decided to open our hearts one more time. We spotted LALO and immediately put our name on the save list so that LALO would not be destroyed. I read this dogs history and was again, abhored that someone would abandon a dog as precious as this. We immediately went to the shelter and met with Van, the Director and the volunteers who took such good care of LALO. It was a match made in heaven. I suppose that our Teddy and Layla had something to nudge us about. We adopted LALO.

Bio: LALO is exactly as described: A very loving, gentle soul that just wanted to be loved. I cannot believe or understand why he was in the shelter for 60 days and about to be destroyed. This is one very loving animal that is well trained, knows commands and is indeed a ball of fluff who loves to be loved. And so it shall be in our home with Pita and Jake.

Forums Motto: I live for a good belly rub

Further info: AS we just rescued LALO this day, we are going to explore his likes and dislikes.
We have found though, that he loves car rides and wind in his face. He has not yet barked and is very gentle. LALO is seemingly a very devoted dog and we feel that God has smiled on our family once more in giving us an opportunity to have a loving creature in our lives and give friendship and love to our aging Pita.
Service Dog Award: Daddy opened up our mail this evening and I was the recipient of my OFFICIAL SERVICE DOG AWARD from the State of California. Hooray! I am now an Official Service/Therapy Dog. Even though my sister Pita is a Service Dog for life, she has gotten older and daddy is going to retire her soon, but I will be taking her place (but only as her 2nd in Command as an official Service Dog) (I even got my stinking Badge) BOL We are all so proud. Daddy is going to place the Badge on me officially on 11/11/09 Yay for me and Pita can now have her so very much deserved rest. BUT she is always number ONE in our hearts for life!
PROTECT: We have worked with Lalo to be ever so gentle as he came to us but has slowly become the ALPHA dog in the family. LALO is ever protective of Pita and has learned quickly to Protect both Jacob and myself with a German word that will unglue him and allow him to be aggressive and yet not bite, but Protect. He is perfect!
Desert Critters: Living in Palm Springs, Lalo has decided that Road Runners and large rabbits are something to run for and try to corner. He has done so but has never harmed them. He likes to make a game of it. Beep Beep! Not like Wyle E Coyote, he is fascinated by their speed and tries to outrun them.
Affection: Since we acquired Lalo, he has grown fond of us and is protective and loving at the same time. He is very docile around Pita the senior Chow in the family and loving. He is certainly a one man show but is relaxed and seems to know his place. Loves to chase tennis balls and frisbees, love cuddling and likes to sleep almost on top of you. Very gentle unless provoked.
SERVICE DOG: LALO has been trained and received from the State of California his certification as a Service/Therapy Dog. Loves children and seems to love those who are disabled. Does not eat children but loves them.

Daddy had to drive to Chicago to tend to a funeral so while we were out her we drove up to Minnesota to visit his sister and I got to play in snow. Intresting stuff. Afterwards, we drove out to Michigan (Ann Arbor) area, to visit his kid brother. We are currently staying here and enjoying some good old fashioned country living. Will keep you posted and will try to take some new photos. Love to all, Lalo

So daddy is a sadist! LOL We were in Palm Springs for the Doggy Bike rally and yes he had a bike, he made me suffer and did not get me my own wagon. You got it. I had to trot along during the ride-a-thon. Ok I will agree it was fun because I met a lot of new doggy friends and got lots of water, munchies and even a pile of "you're so cute" pats. But, in the end, we went home, I fell asleep and daddy went to the store and bought some chicen filet breasts. Ye, I woke up to the smell of those delicious little quackers roasting away. Mmmmm! Were they good? Burp! Beltch! and Antiacids later. Hell yes! We had a wonderful day and after dinner we stretched out on the bed and watched TV. I am not sure, but I think daddy passed out first, but I certainly followed right after him. We woke up around midnight. Yep, 6 hours later, took our nightly desert walk and back to bed. It was an exhausting but hell of fun day. We should do it more often. Daddy went on Facebook said hi to everyone and had a scotch. Cheap Mr.....I only got water. But I suppose it was for my own good. So we slept the night and today spent it doing errands until we heard that this singer died. Well daddy was not amused and went straight to the computer and computed. He did put some good stuff on there. You guessed it, I had to listen to his proofs. It was all good. Now it is almost 1 am again and we are going for a short walk, some yum yum treats and sleep. Love you all and thanks for reading my adventure for the day. Love Lalo and of course my secretary, Bob.

Yesterday afternoon, daddy took us out for a trek in the desert in search of critters and road runners. Critters there were plenty. Didn't see any snakes thank goodness but other things and even introduced myself to a new cactus. He loved my "cologne" hehe. I did spot a couple of road runners and daddy gave me the word so off I went. How do you catch two road runners? You don't. But I had a lot of fun and came back to daddy who was laughing his butt off. I was foaming at the mouth so he had to wipe me clean and give me some water.
After thinking about the situation I think I will have to head to the hills and find Wyle E. Coyote (super genius), and ask him which ACME products he recommends to catch the bird. I know he is a master at it. At least I heard that he is famous and made many movies about his adventures with those pesky road runners. So I will humbly become his student; the little "chowhopper" until I learn his ways.
Anyway, after our journey into the vast desert, we returned home where I promptly laid down and fell asleep. Daddy woke me up with that wonderful sound of music - The Can Opener Suite. I had some Country Stew and waited for daddy to finish his plate of which I always get some. Hopped on the sofa and we both just watched some TV, read a book, I got rubs until we dozed off. Got up at midnight for a night stroll and back to bed.
Today, we are about to go for ride and do some errands. I will fill you in later. Hope everyone is having a great time and it's nice to be back on line. Love all my dogster AND catster friends....Lalo and my daddy, Bob.
