Arrival Story:
I wanted a heeler, my roomate wanted a lab, so when we saw an ad in the paper for lab/heeler puppies, of course we had to have them! We took two...though the littermate lives with my old roomate now. When Lily was younger, she was very smart and agile. Unfortunately, she's been on epilepsy medication for so long that she's lost a lot of her spunk, but she's still a sweetie. She'd rather be a lump on the rug than play fetch any day!

Lily has epilepsy, which started when she was about 2. She lost a lot of mental accuity because of the drugs, and she became pretty sluggish, too. For a while we were really working hard at it, and she was having seizures every 3 weeks or so. One weekend she had 7 seizures in 12 hours, then paced for about 48 hours. At that point, our vet referred us to a neurologist, who's been working with her ever since. She's now been almost 3 years with no seizures, and on less meds than before. She's got some of her energy back, and she's brighter than she was for a while, but she'll probably never be like she was when she was a puppy. Still, she's a wonderful little love-bug, and a real success story, too!
