Arrival Story:
My husband is a deputy and recently became a K9 Officer. After training with several dogs who did not work out, Zorko came along. Zorko took to training and had great drive. He came home, fell in love with Sasha, and we fell in love with him. He passed his certification and was ready to go to work. He has tons of puppy in him and has lots of love to give. It's amazing how intimidating he can be yet what a big baby he is.

Zorko works hard on 12 hour shifts. He is purebred and from great lines. We had him two days when we left him outside in our fenced in area and ran an errand. Imagine our horror when we came home to find this fully trained police dog gone! He climbed the fence. Luckily he had not made it out of the neighborhood and we recovered him in about 2 hours. He was happily walking up the road. He loves to chase Sasha and she loves to be chased.

What a great weekend...

It's been a while since I have written a diary entry but I had a fabulous weekend and thought I should share.

Friday evening, after a long day of work, dad and I got called out for a track. A man was suspected of sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl and then fleeing the scene. When his car was found abandoned, they called me to look for him. And I was successful! The man was arrested and charged with the assault. They even put me in the paper!!! Mom and Dad are so proud of me.

I have been getting lots of messages lately supporting the hard work my dad and I do and I really appreciate it. I love what I do and it's always nice to hear that I am appreciated. :) Then tonight, I got a great message from another pup on Dogster. After seeing the link to Mission K9 in my diary, they are going to "Adopt" a Police K9. What an awesome thing for them to do!!! My human family and I were real excited.

I'd like to thank....

everyone who voted for me. I (along with mom, dad, and Sasha) was so excited to learn that I was a finalist in the Dogster contest!!! I'm so honored and it made my day. I'm sure it was hard to pass me by since I was wearing my uniform, but there is some great competition! I love my job and I'd love to represent all dogs by being named the People's Choice Best in Show. Check me out and give me a vote! :)

Important Business

Today I am at the Blue Ridge Emporium just North of Charlottesville. There is a nice lady there who raises money for police k9s so that we can have hot doggers (make sure our partners know when we are getting too hot in the cars) and door poppers (allow our partners to pop open the door when they get into a situation and are unable to come get us on their own). Every so often she invites all the police k9s and the public so that people can see what an important job we do and get to know us better.

Today they are also going to raise money for Mission K9, which is where I got my super cool vest from. Without their help, the department would not have been able to afford to protect me with a vest. Mission K9 raises money and donates vests to k9s in need.

Check 'em out.... http://www.missionk9.org/
