Arrival Story:
Almost a month after losing my Westie I went to the Animal Shelter to check out a little Westie mix they had listed. It wasn't a Westie at all and was definately not the one for me. But.... 2 'cells' down was Bullett. He was on 'death row' because he was not good with cats, dogs, kids and had bitten his previous owner & nipped at the vet and groomer. I took him outside and let him run off his pent up energy then started teaching him to heel on leash. It took less than 5 minutes for him to learn. He reminded me of a 4 - 6 month pup that has had ZERO training. I taught him a couple more things then showed his abililies off to the shelter workers in an attempt to get him off death row. His was to be put down after the rabies hold expired. Instead he was released to me and entered into my Doggie Bootcamp. In less than a week Bullett has settled down and learned he's not Alpha afterall and that it's nice having someone else in charge. So far he has not been aggressive with the CAT at the Vets or people and the dogs at the animal shelter. I contacted the previous owner and she said he nipped at her when she was pulling her leather purse strap away from him as he was chewing on it. Since it did draw blood, he was labeled a biter. And for that he was sentenced to death.

3 months after picking Bullett up from the shelter I've exposed him to several cats that are larger than him, serveral dogs while dog sitting for days at a time and my rowdy neices. He gets along with all of them. His previous owner just didn't want to take the time to train him.

1 Year Anniversary

Today is my 1 year gotcha anniversary and since Mom didn’t have a DOB for me it’s being used as my Birthday! I have had so many new experiences over the last year and love my new life. I have learned how to act around people and now Mom can take me with her on outings, camping and just for walks in public places. Occasionally we dog sit so have fun playing with other pups. I behave my self when being boarded or groomed too. I am so much more comfortable now that I have a routine in my life.

As for my past aggressions, I’ve been letting Mom know exactly what my former life was like. I only growl at men in caps, when being handed over to someone at chest level and I hate out door kennels. She keeps me away from those situations since I’ve let her know I don’t like them. Mom’s being extra nice to me today since it’s my special day so I better get back to her for some more lovin’. Bark at ya later.
