Arrival Story:
He was our first Berner, and as a result we are hooked on the breed. We saw a picture of two Berner pups that had been imported into South Africa on an animal magazine while settling an account at our vet - tragically for a border collie who had had such severe stroke that she no longer knew how to eat and had to be laid to rest. My husband had said no more dogs, it was too traumatic when they 'left'. However, one look into the eyes of the Berners on the magazine and I had convinced him that pain and suffering was part of loving your pet and that how could one not have a dog in the home. So a Berner it had to be and it was almost a 3 year wait before Nimrod joined us.

Bio:
Nimrod was one of 10 puppies born to the first litter of his mother and breeder! The same wonderful breeder we have got our other babies from. He was a very loving, trusting and friendly sole, so typical of the breed. Just after his 5th birthday he was diagnosed with lymph cancer (lymphositis carcinoma). The cancer was very virulant and less than 2 months later he was gone. He left a very big hole in our lives and it was 3 years before Pancho, our second Berner came to live with us.
