Birthday: August 1st 2006 Arrival Story: "'Cause I've got Pac-Man fever; Pac-Man fever.
It's driving me crazy.
Driving me crazy.
I've got Pac-Man fever;
Pac-Man fever.
I'm going out of my mind.
Going out of my mind.
I've got Pac-Man fever;
Pac-Man fever.
I'm going out of my mind.
Going out of my mind."
OK - did I just date myself with those lyrics? Poor little PacMan...he is just 3 years old and has spent his life in a research facility helping with nontoxic drug studies. Unfortunately, PacMan keeps getting recurring skin infections, and after a year of trying various medications, shampoos, etc., the laboratory just feels that they cannot use PacMan for studies, and asked if CBR-East could help him. Our answer was "Yes!" Bio: PacMan has already seen our wonderful veterinarians, and they believe we can help PacMan! He does not have mites or mange. He most likely has a food allergy, and then keeps getting secondary skin infections as a result. Since the laboratory could not offer him a special food, and we can, we think this will be something manageable for PacMan as a housepet. :) He is starting a new course of antibiotics, an antihistamine, and a grain-free allergy formulated food by Natural Balance (Potato and Duck). His neutering and dental cleaning are on hold until we can get his skin and coat in better shape, so we will take good care of him in the meantime and try to get him all healed. His coat now is thin, scaly, flaky, and irritated, but we'll keep an eye on it.
Update 9/09: PacMan is doing GREAT! :) His infection has cleared, and his coat, although still thin, is growing back beautifully. We will continue to monitor this wonderful progress! PacMan is a LOVE - very cuddly and affectionate. He gets along well with other dogs. He will need continued work on his housetraining (he is not), but he is cratetrained, so it's a start! He has gained a little weight and is up to 18 lbs, and will make someone a wonderful pet - WITH the understanding that PacMan will need to always be kept on a Limited Ingredient Diet, and in this case, duck and potatoes. This means no milkbones, treats (other than duck breast or potato chews), etc. I've Been On Dogster Since:
