Hand targeting at great distances! He also has mastered all the basic obedience commands such as Sit, Down, Stand, Stay and Come Over. He can also Sit Pretty, Spin, Roll Over, Crawl, Paw, High Five, Wave, Go to Crate, and Jump.
Arrival Story:
I originally researched maltese breeders across the country a few years back when I contemplated about getting a second dog while Babi was still alive. After much thought, I decided to let Babi live out the rest of her days as an "only child". Since her passing in April 2009, I knew I could not live without a maltese in my life. I contacted the same list of breeders I had saved to inquire about puppy availability. I decided in the end to go with a reputable show breeder in Florida who I felt comfortable with.
Hachiko is from a litter of 3 puppies. The other 2 maltese were sold for show and Hachiko was watched until the age of 6 months as a show potential. Everything about him, according to his breeder, was perfect until his adult teeth came in and there was malocclusion. I flew down to Florida shortly thereafter to pick him up from his breeder when he turned 7 months old. Although Hachiko was not able to become a glamorous show ring dog, he has become a much adored and beloved member of our family.
Bio:
Hachiko arrived on a special day, he was born on Thanksgiving Day 2008! After cross referencing Hachiko's and Babi's pedigree, I am thrilled to find that the two are distantly related 10 generations ago through CH Maltes'a Royal Minstrel and CH Joanne-Chen's Karyon Dancer.
