Arrival Story:
I saw a Chinese Crested on petfinder.com and called to meet him. The foster mom said that the dog,'lil dude', was exclusively a couch potatoe, and that if I liked the look of a hairless, but temperment of a terrier- that I was in luck and the best Xoloitzcuintli, aka Mexican Hairless, breeder was in my state. I drove over one day, and drove back with Zuma in her crate.

Bio:
Zuma is a Coated Xoloitzcuintli -- say 'show-low-eats-queent-li'. The Xoloitzcuintli is one of the oldest dog breeds in existence. It has been found in ancient Aztec civilizations- used as a healing dog, for warmth in a cold bed, and thought to be a guide into the afterlife. Also, has been a food source in ancient times. The breed is typically hairless- sometimes with a patch of fur on the top of it's head and on the feet and end of tail. Their skin is usually grey and darkens to black in the summer sun. Rarely they are born with a full coat of fur. Their fur could be any color. The furry Xolos are disqualified to show, but make excellent pets (like Zuma!). There are 3 sizes of Xolo, miniature, intermediate and standard. The smallest being Chihuahua size. Zuma is a standard size and I expect she will be about 45 pounds full-grown.
