I'm 12 Years Young now! :)

Hi Friends! Thanx so much for visiting my page on my birthday & your Pawmail, messages, Gifts/pix & Kind Wishes ! ...You helped to make my 12th Birthday even more Special!
I had such a Fun Day! Mom Spoiled me with Special people foods & Treats all day & Lots of Xtra Hugs & Kisses too! ! My Sweet friend , our Grand daughter was over... so I knew I'd get to take a nice walk...but it turned out to be even Better !... We had snow & just enough ( my old sore , legs can't trudge & jump through deep snow like I used to) Mom brought the sled along & we walked over to a Hill, down the street from where we live. I Love Winter ...I can breathe so well in the cold air and I love the Snow (as you must know by now )! Mom got me during a snowstorm one Wintery evening...that's part of the reason for my name. (If you'd like you can read about this Bitter Sweet ♥ Gotcha Day story on the 'Arrival Story' of my Bio. on my page .)
Oh yeah....back to our sledding adventure ( American Bulldogs usually are only able to focus on only one thing at a time BOL )....Mom decides to attempt to put me on the toboggan sled with Madison & her and it's been a long time since I've done this! At this age it was scary at first, but Mom held me tight , while trying to fit me on the sled BOL ( I'm Big Boned!) and down we went ! Wheeeee!... just like old times! I felt young again! It was Fun! When I was young, I loved to chase Mom on the sled ! I would also try to jump on her sled or an empty sled she'd send down the hill for me!... Those were the days!
After our sledding adventure together , Mom , Madison & I trudged back home slower than the trip to get there... taking many rest breaks on the way back home ! Afterwards Madison & I both took a nice looooong needed nap. Thanx Mom for my Pawsome Birthday!...and you too again, friends!
Sorry, Mom , Pigeon ( my Cat brother) & I haven't been around lately ...Mom's been through trauma and Life has been a little bit tougher these days but .... it's a New Year & we're Hoping for a much Happier & Healthy 2013! Hoping you & your families all Enjoyed the Holidays & also have a Happy, Healthy New Year filled with Lots of Love! ♥

My Sweet friend, Mable who we thought had kidney stones has now been diagnosed with kidney displasia. There is no known cure or surgery for this . :( She is just 3 years old. Mabel, is also the sister of Wilma, ( who I wrote about below) she is also ill with end stage kidney failure. Please keep Mabel, Wilma & Mom in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you friends. I've been sick!

Hi friends! I haven't been feeling well! I 'm getting old ya know ...11 years is up there and I'm a big girl. My appetite hasn't been the same , walks have been getting tougher especially in the humid weather. Anyways...Mom noticed something wrong as my appetite had decreased more , I had vomited twice after eating and was having diarrhea. My appetite started to decrease even more so to almost nothing . I did eat some hamburg , cheese and chicken during the week and walking had become even more difficult for me with lots of panting! My eye became swollen and my coat looked almost like I had hives. Mom treated it with Benedryl and it cleared but not sure if it was the Benedryl or not? A couple more days went by and my panting, walking and appetite got worse. Mom noticed I was having difficulty walking and getting up. The next morning I was limp in the back hind area/legs. I was unable to move and had no feeling in the back of me. Luckily my Vet. took me right in on a Saturday and amazingly she was able to clip my back toenails without a move and draw blood in my hind quarters ,... Mom knew this was bad! The Vet. was concerned it could possibly be a slipped disc in my spine. Most of these symptoms are part of the Lyme disease , also . We waited right there for most of the blood results and it showed I was anemic , and I tested positive for a type of Lyme disease,Anaplasma/Ehrichia. I have always been on on Frontline Plus ? Later results came back and my thyroid was low and had some protein in my urine. Well...I was sent to a nuerologist who informed I had chronic arthritis in hind/limbs area. However, she also mentioned that Lyme Disease has symptoms like this. My blood pressure was high...wouldn't yours be at this point...all this poking around , tests etc...?!! I had an EKG also and arrythmia was found for no apparent reason and a type of murmur. I had a echocardiogram done the following day and my heart looked fine they say. It all boiled down to are these Lyme disease symptoms or is something else going on? We'll just have to wait and see. Now a week later Mom stopped the Rymadil for pain and Pepcid for my stomache to see how I'd be without. She is no longer having to lift my hind quarters up and down steps,I appearr less lame, I'm walking short distances when it's cooler outside, I have eaten some dry food , however it has hamburg mixed in and that is the only way I'll even taste it! Mom is just relieved I'm eating something. I'm on an antibiotic for the month for the Lyme Diseae and thyroid medicine . At the end of the month they'll recheck my urine for the protein loss, check my thyroid level and for the Lyme disease. Hopefully I'll continue to improve , my appetite will improve , the Lyme disease will be gone from my system and none of the dragging or knuckling in my hind limbs will return and I can blame most of these symptoms on the Erlichia/Lyme disease. Unfortunately, I will continue to have old age syptoms as to be expected. Thank you to my Kind friends who have been concerned and showed their Love by prayers and nice messages, gifts etc... You're the Best friends anyone could have!

Hi Friends! I hope you all had a nice Christmas and a Fun New Years Eve! I would like to Thank my Friends for all their Holiday Wishes, mesages, comments on my pictures and Pretty Prezzies (w/ pics. and nice messages ) to Decorate my page! I also received some really Great Christmas Gifts from some Friends in the mail and one Gift was even from a Cat friend of Pigeons and myself, Simon!... That was a Nice Surprise! I truly appreciate all your Kindness Friends....you're the Best ! Most important though.....Your Friendship is the Best Gift of All! It means so much to me! Please, Let's not forget about our less fortunate Furry Friends out there this New Year that are homeless, in Shelters/Rescues, Puppy Mills, that are/have been abused, have Special Needs or are sick. Let's keep them Always in our prayers and try to help out in any way we can by Visiting, Volunteering, Fostering, Donating to the Rescues/Shelters etc...! And Please report animal abuse if you see it or suspect it! ♥

10 years later...who knew I was an Agility Dog?

When mom first adopted me, she was informed that I was an Agility type American Bulldog, a cross between the Scott and Johnson A.B. Breeders, a slighter, built A.B.. The other type of A.B. is bigger and bulkier and built more for pulling weight competions. At first mom had considered checking into Agility Competions. However never even considered this again after we both flunked a basic training class! BOL The other day my Mom was babysitting, she came home and decided to give me a bath before taking me along to the playground. I hated every minute of my bath! It doesn't matter if I'm covered from head to toe in dirt ... laying in the dirt is what keeps me cool! After my bath I was feeling good... like a puppy again! We made it to the local playground and there was a huge play set! Mom and the little boy proceeded to climb up the steps onto the bridge,( this bridge had huge holes in it .... not sure how to possibly be safe for children?) I decided to follow right behind them, up the steps and over the bridge. Mom was shocked to see that the bridge did not frighten me!( After all I am afraid of just about everything else! ... even something as small as a spoon dropping on the floor! BOL ) Mom just could not believe it! She kind of coaxed me before she slid (real word?) down the slide and I hesitated but then wobbly, standing up, I also went down the slide! I have to admit that was a little scary! Do Not Attempt this at home! BOL I wanted to jump off, but everything hapened so quickly! I know what you're thinking.... no way! It's true! Mom was ecstatic! She praised me, patted me , called me "good girl" etc...! The little boy couldn't have cared less! BOL There's more, it gets better...... after the slide, mom climbed up a short ladder, onto a platform with the boy and was just about to go through the long plastic tunnel and there I was at the other end and attempted to climb in and up... it wasn't happening though, I kept slipping bakwards... but I tried! At this point mom was in Awe!!! The little boy said to her... "I wonder if she will climb up the ladder" as we stood on the platform. A few seconds later, I put my paws on the ladder steps and attempted to climb until mom panicked , thinking that I would fall backwards, she scared me so, I got (almost fell) back down. Mom was so frightened that I would fall back because I'm old and a little overweight! After this stunt, Mom got down from the platform and smothered me with affection , praised me, patted me, called me "good girl" etc. Mom was so very excited about this performance she couldn't wait to tell her dog friends about this, which she did as is telling you now! Who knew....after all this time ( I'm 10 years old now and overweight) , that I was truly an Agility Dog?! :)
