Nicknames:
Jeckles, Jeck-jeck-JECKLE, The Weird One, Private Dancer/Dancer for Money

Expected Adult Size:
Small (11-25 lbs.)

Arrival Story:
I became acquainted with Jeckle around February of 2009 when he came to the rescue from a Los Banos kill shelter. It has only been now in July 2009 that we've become his foster family (see more in his bio info).

Bio:
Jeckle came to the California Underdogs Rescue in/around February of 2009 and back then I was only a photographer who took pictures of the dogs for posting ads on Craigslist and PetFinder. Around March I started to actively volunteer with the rescue during its adoption fairs and Jeckle, as awesome as he is, kept getting bypassed for the puppies and other dogs. A few months went by but in late June 2009 he was adopted out. Unfortunately, the woman who adopted him out was a terrible mistake and she was a horrible caretaker who, instead of bringing him back to us as per the adoption contract that she signed, dumped him at Oakland Animal Services after only eight days. Nearly a month went by before *I* caught his picture on Craigslist under one of OAS's postings for small dogs and was horrified to see him there, so the directors worked to get him back with the rescue. About a week or so after the rescue got him back we became his foster family and are working to find him a GOOD home where he will not be dumped again. He is a fantastic dog and is very smart and will listen to whatever you tell him to do. He is playful if you want him to be, he is lazy if you want him to be, and if you're disabled or lonely, he will truly be *your* best friend (he is very treat-oriented and smart, so if you'd like to teach him to be a service or therapy dog, we think that's possible, too). He will grow attached to you and your other pets; he's a "normal dog" when it comes to other dogs and cats, and if you have dogs that are protective of you or bark (see our other dog, "Buddy"), he will mimic their behavior, but a quick vocal correction with his name has always worked for us--he is VERY eager to please and responds very well/enthusiastically to his own name. He gets along with our other three dogs (see our profile), and in fact he's taught our more rambunctious pup (Buddy) to behave even better; I think that he relates best to our chihuahua Teddy though, because he is part chihuahua (so he would do fine in a home that already has a chihuahua, even one that has a little bit of fickleness, like our Teddy). He does whine and bark a little bit when you leave/leave him in the crate, but I've found that he stops after a very short time. He is crate and house trained. Really, when I brought him home for fostering the first night, it was as if he'd been here all along, and we never needed to correct any real problems/misbehavior. He does fine in the bath and he snores when he's on his side/back/cuddling with you when he sleeps! It's very cute. UPDATE: Jeckle just can't get enough of us, nor we him. He's just SO funny and weird (just look at those pictures!) that he brings MUCH joy to the household.

Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue-ADOPTABLE!

Likes:
Treats!

Pet-Peeves:
He doesn't like to play too rough with other playful dogs; he does NOT like squeaky toys/seems afraid of them!

Favorite Toy:
You!

Favorite Food:
Will eat (dog) food you give him, so he doesn't really have a favorite food. He's quite healthy, so even food changes don't upset his tummy.

Favorite Walk:
Any walk you want to take him on. He is very good walking on a leash.

Best Tricks:
He can DANCE! Very treat/food-motivated, you can teach him to do anything.

Forums Motto:
"That's my name, don't wear it out!"
