Happy Holidays – this is Meghan. I’ve been in rescue for almost 6 months now and I’m still looking for my very own home. I know I have a little grey on my face but I’ve learned from my mom that doesn’t really signify age, it’s just stress highlights. I also have lots of energy now that I have been treated for heartworms. I’m so happy to be alive and get fed twice a day that I jump with joy and turn circles in the air. Mom calls me her little “grasshopper” (whatever that means) – I guess it’s a good thing b/c she always smiles and gives me hugs. I’m house-trained, crate-trained, walk like a lady on the leash, love all people (adults and children) and like to play with other dogs. I’m not sure how I am with kitties but mom can introduce me to some if you would like to know.
I am very well-behaved (mom lets me sleep on a doggie bed beside her bed) and can be trusted in the house. I love being around people so much that I will follow you everywhere and just sit by your side. Sometimes, I will sit on your feet but mom says that is a good thing, especially in the winter, because it keeps her feet warm. She is so silly. Hahaha I would really like to find my “fur”ever home just in time for the holidays – is that you? Please send in your application and tell them you want to meet Miss Meghan the “Grasshopper”. See you soon, Meghan!

Hi, everyone! After I met Oprah, I started my heartworm (HW) treatment. Mom says that I go to be checked for HWs on 10/28 and if I’m negative, I’ll be ready to go to my “fur”ever home. I’m crate-trained, house-trained and even have run of the house at night. I never meet a stranger and get along great with all the other dogs (there are 6 here – wow). I’ve never met any cats so I’m not sure if I like them. I like to ride in the car, walk well on a leash, can sit and have good house manners. I’m energetic but not hyper and follow mom everywhere she goes – I even help do laundry (I supervise to make sure she does it right) – hahaha. Mom has been feeding me good food twice a day so I have gained lots of weight (I’m 60 pounds now) and my coat is really soft and pretty. I love it when mom brushes me – it feels so good that I have to do a kidney bean and wiggle when she does it – hahaha. I hope all those HWs are gone next week so I can get back to playing in the fenced yard with all the other dogs here. I have stopped missing my babies and started learning how to have fun and play with toys. Boy, I sure was missing out on some great fun – I really like the ones that make noise and sometimes I turn my head sideways when I hear one – mom just hugs me when I do that and tells me how cute I am. I also like to lie in mom’s lap and she rubs my ears – she tells me I’m spoiled but that I deserve it. All I know is I like my new life – I feel so good that sometimes I just jump up straight in the air and wiggle; and for some strange reason, mom calls me “grasshopper”. My foster home is fantastic but mom says it is even better when you have a home to call your very own. If you want a sweet boxer girl to share your home, have your people call my people (fill out an application) and we can do lunch (meet). Hugs, Meghan

Today on Oprah, we have a very special guest – Meghan the Boxer Girl.
Oprah: Hello, Meghan – I’m honored to have such a special guest on the show today. Tell us a little about yourself.
Meghan: Thank you Oprah – I’m so excited to be here. I’m about 4-5 years old, fawn with white markings, spayed and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m crate-trained, house-trained and have perfect house-manners. My mom says I like to play and I’m very smart.
Oprah: Where did you come from?
Meghan: Well, it’s hard to say because I have tried so hard to forget about my past but I will share what I remember. I came from SC and I have had puppies in the past. One day, I ended up at this place called a shelter and I was so afraid and depressed because I missed my puppies. I was there for about a month - I was so sad, stopped eating and had almost given up hope. Then, one day, my prayers were answered. This nice lady came and took me away from there. I was so happy to be out of there – I slept most of the way to my foster mom’s house.
Oprah: It sounds like you have had a hard life – how is it that you are so resilient and have such a positive attitude?
Meghan: I love people and I understand that just because some are bad that there are also lots of wonderful people who make a real difference in the world. My foster home is something I have never experienced. I got a bath, had my ears cleaned, then some leave in conditioner on my coat – I felt like I was one of those celebrities in a fancy spa. I get 2 meals a day and have a soft, fluffy bed to sleep on – I even have my own room! I have 4 fur brothers and sisters and just love to play with them. There are also some funny smelling things that mom calls her nephews – I really like them because they give me treats, hug me and rub my head and ears. It feels so good to get massages – I just worked all the time in my former life and didn’t have any luxuries.
Oprah: You mentioned that you had puppies in the past and were sad. You sound like you are a wonderful mom.
Meghan: Yes, Oprah – that has been a difficult adjustment for me because mom says I will not have babies anymore. I was sad at first but she explained that I had taken such wonderful care of my puppies that now it was her turn to take care of me. You see, I have something called heartworms and mom says that it will take me about 8 weeks to get well and I need to gain some weight. She said that she would help me get well and find the perfect home – just for me! That makes me feel really special – especially since I know how particular she is.
Oprah: It sounds like you have a whole new life in front of you, Meghan. What do you hope for in the future?
Meghan: I would like to have a family who rubs my head and ears, gives me attention, and allows me to live in the house. All I really need is a soft bed, 2 meals a day and affection. That is a great deal to get unconditional love in return. If any of your viewers are interested in adopting me, please have them contact Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue and fill out an application. Thank your for allowing me to share my story.
