She'll sit with paws up for treats, stand for treats and she's learning to jump for treats

Arrival Story:
In the summer/fall of 2008 we fostered my sister's cairn terrier, Duchess. We fell in love with her and when she went back home we decided to get our own pup. We went through Colonel Potter's Cairn Terrier Rescue and after 2 months of waiting Marzi came to her forever home with us.

Previously Marzi was a mill-mamma for at least 5 very long years (her birthday is a guestimation) somewhere in a horrible puppy mill in Missouri. It is estimated she has had about 10 litters of pups at least. She has some fear issues and we are working thru them as the 4th of July firecrackers undid much of the progress she had made. She came to us with permanent damage to her eyes after she had an untreated serious infection in both eyes at the mill. She can only see shadows out of the right eye but her left eye is still pretty good. We now do eye treatments about 5 x per day. Marzi is a trooper and a super sweet little girl. I'm glad we were chosen to be her forever home.

OK, ok so my mom has been busy but she did get me a little sister (that's her with her tongue hanging out on my photo page) a while back so I'm never alone. I've been doing my best to relax as much as I can since I'm getting up there in years now. Mom and the vet think I'm about 9-11 years old. I have some arthritis and other medical problems but we're hoping things are under control now. I can't see very well but my eyes are way better than they ever were since the untreated infection when I was at that horrible puppy mill.

Life is good. I'm ready for summer!

Here we go again. I don't know why I can't catch a break these days. Mom took me to the vet last Monday found out I have a bladder stone! I'm sure looking forward to getting healthy and staying that way. I'll write more while I'm in recovery.

So Long Summer

Well, for me it's been a long summer of challenges but I'm doing GREAT now. I think I have put my fears behind me and I'm so much happier.

Mom and Dad are so pleased with how I just walk out the door without being afraid. And I'm not afraid to be outside or to walk out of the yard. Man, now I love going on walks again. OH yeah, the car...I love, love, love when mom and dad take me for rides. We always go somewhere new and fun. This weekend we went to a new beach and I got my feet wet plus we walked on the pier along the Huron River and I loved it. I'm sure we'll go somewhere great again today and probably tomorrow too since Mom and Dad are off again tomorrow.

So so long summer, I'm looking foward to an amazing Fall!
