ADOPT 2010 CONTEST, Adopt 2010 Stroll - My mom and I were checking out a local animal shelter early July 2009 in preparation for a dog that we were to adopt in September, when I moved back in after graduating from college. The first dog we met was a small black and white dog who wouldn't come to greet me. She was flanked by very high-energy, constantly barking dogs in the other kennels and looked ridiculously sad. It was actually my mom's suggestion that we get her then and there, and while it was a little earlier than I'd expected, Maya's become a great addition to our family.
Bio:
When she's scruffy, she looks like an old man because she has a white beard and gray eyebrows. We're guessing she's some sort of Rat Terrier/Cairn/Schnauzer mix. But when she's shaved short, she looks like a black dachshund crossed with a chihuahua!
