Arrival Story:
My wife and I had discussed adding a third dog to our household. We had talked about different breeds and settled on a Basset. This was to be my dog and I had always loved Bassets. But we decided that the time wasn't right since we had just gotten married and wanted some time to get the household settled down a bit. My wife had stopped into a local petstore and found a tiny Pomeranian, and wanted me to go see it. She thought it was "safe" to bring me to see it the next day because there weren't any Bassets in the store and we wouldn't be tempted to come home with anything else. As soon as we walked through the door we both said "Uh Oh" in perfect unison. They got a Basset in that morning. My wife was still confident, as long as it was a male, we were OK, "Tony" the 5 year old Rat Terrier wouldn't allow another male dog in the house. It was a female and it was basicly all over by then. She instinctively knew that I would be the one she had to win over, and used all of her charms on me! I never had a chance! We brought her home that day.

Bio:
She has been an absolute joy. We got her at 10 weeks and she's been growing like a weed! The Rat Terrier, Tony is still rather upset that she won't bow to his dominance, but she and the 5 year old Yellow Lab "puppy" Becky Rose play non-stop.

Maggie has gone to live in a new home. It was a tough decision, but she just wasn't happy with our new home. She has moved to a wonderful home with 3 other bassets and 3 "honorary" bassets in New Mexico.

We miss her. :(

So many changes!

Well, Dad finally found time to let me update my diary. Its been a busy last couple of months. I started getting a little nervous, Mom and Dad started putting all their stuff in boxes. I had to keep my eye on the tweats, I was afraid they were going to disappear too!

Then one day a bunch of guys came and took all of the boxes and furniture away. I was definately freaking out! And then Dad took me for a ride in the car. I think Becky and Tony went for a ride in Mom's truck too. But we didn't go back home. We went to this new place.

I wasn't so sure about it until I found my bed. We've stayed here for a while now. I've got my crate and my food and water bowls. So I'm good!

A new bed

OK, I'm a little behind here, so I need to let everybody know what's been happening.

No more crate!!! When I first came home Mommy said that I had to live in the crate for the first year. Well, about a week before my first bufday, Daddy reminded her of that. So they let me stay in their bedroom (still not up on the bed though, that's Tony's bed, he doesn't allow me or Becky up there). Dad brought a couple of the blankets from my old crate, but I would have none of that. I was tired of sleeping on those things! I went for the pile of sheets Daddy had just taken off of their bed! Waaaay more comfy!

The next day, Daddy brought me the biggest chew toy I've ever seen. Silly me ;) the fleece on the outside fooled me. It's apparently a bed. So that's where I sleep at night now, right next to Daddy's side of their bed.

Speaking of which... I need a nap.... ZzZzZz
