   Leave a bone for Izzy ( Oct 1991 - Feb 1992)

Nicknames:
(Isabella), Piglet (she had a bright pink nose when she was born), Precious

Likes:

Pet-Peeves:
Izzy was happy-go-lucky, nothing bothered her

Best Tricks:
She knew her name right away and came when called at just a month old

Arrival Story:
We had gotten a puppy for Christmas the year before, my brother and I, my parents getting her from the pound. We were living on a rather large fenced property but when she went into heat three male dogs found their way inside and before we knew it, she was pregnant. She had the puppies at the end of October, nine of them! We saw traits of each of the three fathers in the litter, ranging from brown & furry to black & white dalmation spots. After my brother fell in love with the first born male and I fell for the 2nd born female (Izzy) we later found a good home for the mother and the puppies one by one, until it was just down to us.

Bio:
I had never before witnessed the miracle of birth, and to literally take part in the delivery as well, because the mother was so young and didn't know what to do. I became instantly attached to little Izzy, who actually started out her life being called "Piglet" because that's exactly what she reminded me of as a baby- a little black and white pig with a bright pink nose. She loved sleeping on your shoulder undisturbed while you were sitting at the table or desk. She was a bit cross-eyed and had the most characteristics of her mother, who wasn't exactly a bright dog, and she was rambunctious, but I was convinced Izzy was smarter than that, and indeed she was. I loved her dearly. She was barely three months old when she contracted Parvo, a deadly doggy disease. There is a vaccination for Parvo but she received the shot too late to save her life. I urge everyone to not miss this important shot in a puppy's life, learn from my mistakes. I opted for the vet to put Izzy to sleep, one of the hardest decisions of my life, but she was beyond saving and I didn't want her to suffer. Izzy was only with me a short time but I still miss her everyday. I delivered her into this world. I was with her every day of her short life. She was my baby. My precious. Two days later her brother Hanz came down with the same symptoms. He died two days after that.
