Arrival Story:
A firefighter rescued Summer from a burning house when she was a puppy about 5 years ago. He became instantly attached to her, and since the current owners had just lost everything in the fire, they asked if he wanted her. He took her home and let her live inside with him for the next several years. Later down the road, he decided to purchase 2 labs. He moved Summer out into the backyard and let the labs live inside. She wanted back inside, so she escaped the fence. The neighbors called the police, and they came and sprayed mace in her face assuming she was an aggressive dog. Later it was discovered that she was very affectionate and sweet, but she was returned to the backyard to live alone. She was fed a poor quality food, so her coat and teeth were really bad. Now her 2 favorite things in life are to eat and give LOTS of kisses.

Bio:
She is currently doing very well with crate-training and housebreaking. She knows sit and is learning to wait until I say "Go!" before eating (this is to help slow her down a bit since she was once starved and feels the need to gorge herself). She is okay with cats and small dogs as long as there is supervision around to monitor her interactions with them. She is living with 4 cats right now, and is fine with them unless they run through the house. Then she feels the need to chase them, which is not allowed. She does love to give lots and lots of kisses, but if you tell her to stop while you are petting her, you can actually make her halt all the licking and smooching while you love on her. :)
