Arrival Story:
My husband had a beagle years ago that was trained to sniff termites (my husband owns a pest control company), and Tommy the Termite dog was somewhat of a celebrity here in Houston. Tommy went to work with my husband daily and so, they were very close. After a long and happy life and retirement, Tommy passed away in 1993. He is buried in a special place in our yard. My husband was so distraught, that he said he would never have another beagle again. We had many dogs, a chow, 3 rottweilers and a couple of mutts, but never another beagle. In November 2005, I decided to surprise my husband with a very special Christmas present, a beagle puppy! I looked everywhere for a 13" tri-color male beagle, which was exactly what Tommy was. I could not find one anywhere, even talking to breeders in Kansas and Arkansas about flying one down to Houston. The week after Thanksgiving, the very first breeder I spoke to here in town called me and said he had one beagle pup matching what I was looking for. I immeditely went to see him and bought him on the spot! Because I wanted to surprise my husband for Christmas, and that was 5 weeks away, the breeder agreed to keep my little pup until then for me. I would sneek away each week and go visit him and each time I wanted so bad to just take him home with me, but I was determined to see this surprise through! Finally, on the week of Christmas, I went to the breeder and picked him up. I didn't name him because I wanted my husband to do that, it was his dog afterall!. I bought a blue sweater and put it on him. I called mu husband to make sure he was home. When I walked in the front door, carrying the little pup in the blue sweater, my husband's eyes lit up like a little boy's and he said "I am going to name him Buster!" The time was right and I'm so glad I waited to surprise him. Buster is now almost 4 years old and living a very happy and good life with us. He sleeps between us on the bed, gets lots of excercise at the park, and we have added a little female beagle, Sadie, to our happy family. The funny thing about this story is that even though I got Buster for my husband, he is very attached to me. I guess because of those weekly visits before I brought him home. It's ok though, Sadie favors her "daddy" and we love them both so much!

Bio:
Buster is listed with America's Pet Registry and is the son of Thompson's Brutus and Thompson's Christy. He has Field Champions in his bloodline and he definately shows those nose traits when we go on our walks!

YEA! My Mommy's home from work! She was only gone a few hours but it felt like FOREVER! She brings me treats and toys when she comes home because she works at a pet store. I am a lucky pup.
