Life of a Kitty

Put on the Back Burner

So, Kitty is not on the stove or anything like that. It is just that it seems I need to wait until after the holidays are over to really get enrolled in obedience classes and agility classes. Things will start getting busier with work and I have been concentrating more on my other dog's agility trials and training. Either way, this should work out fine since my other dog should be moving up to advanced classes so when Kitty graduates her beginners she should be able to go to intermediate classes. This way they will have their own classes instead of trying to run 2 dogs in the same class...

So, come January Kitty will be enrolled in Obedience and Beginners Agility... I hope. That is the plan.

Been A While

It has been a long while since I last made a post about Kitty. She has been doing very well, except I need to work her obedience more. Not because she is a bad girl. She is actually a great girl. But we need to get obedience commands worked on so she can also start training for agility like her sister. So right now I am looking for another class for her. I hope to have her pass her CGC before she turns 1 year old. No reason other than it is good to have a goal.

I just took Kitty to the vet today to get her weighed. I was thinking (hoping) she had gained more since last time I took her in. Well... she is now 3.6 pounds. A month and a half ago she was 3.4 pounds. Weird. I thought she would have gained more and been over 4 pounds easy. She feels much leaner and more filled in than the last time I took her.

Since she is already 6 months old now, she probably isn't going to get too big. I am betting 5-6 pounds at around the 2 year mark. Goofy was about 4 pounds at her 1 year mark, but gained another pound by the time she was 2 years old... so I assume the same for Kitty.

Vet Visit and more

I took Kitty in today for her physical exam and to start her file with my vet. One big thing to note. She is a big cry baby...haha. So we will have to practice at home inspecting her ears and mouth. And some more socialization. It was found that she had a few scabs on her body so she was given an antibotic shot. Kind of surprised me how much scabby skin she had. Our hopes is that it is not ringworm. She goes back in 2 weeks for a check up.

I did talk to Goofy's agility trainer today and it looks like Kitty will be joining a Puppy Obedience class that has already had 2 weeks. This way she gets in a class as soon as possible. So tomorrow we go in an hour early to catch up to the rest of the class.

Yesterday she got her face and ears shaved. She was a cry baby for that too, but she will get used to it all in time. I have confidence in her. I still have to pull the hair out of her ears, dremel her nails, etc.

New home

I saw an ad for a Chinese Crested puppy named Loki and I feel in love. When I meet her, there was no way I could say no to a face like that. She has the sweetest personality. She was quiet, calm, curious, and already had my heart around her little fingers.

I have renamed her Kitty. Yes, I know... strange name. But I thought it was cute. Heck, that is coming from a person who has a ferret named Mouse, so this is not a stretch.

She is going to take some time to get used to her new home, but she isn't doing bad. She has already peed outside, eaten a little, and fends off Goofy with a growl while lap hopping between my boyfriend and I. What a love bug.
