Arrival Story:
It was thrilling to welcome Patricia & Frodo's one & only litter into the world! One of the boys, Samuel, only lived a few hours, because he had become stuck in the birth canal. This made us very sad, but we were too busy, very soon, to mourn. Perhaps because of the C-section birthing, Patricia had no motherly instincts toward the puppies. She would permit them to nurse, but otherwise ignored them, pretty much. As their human "grandma", I learned to do all the things the mother should have been doing, from massaging them so they could pee & poo, to washing them & supplementing them with bottle feeding. They grew fast & were soooooo cute! We have enjoyed them, very much, and they are now all in their own new homes with loving families. Leia is now "Roxy." Alice is now "Winnie." Seth is "Toby." Jake may always be Jake. Arrow's new name is "Pudge," and she is living in a loving home in San Diego. Update: Jake returned to us on Memorial Day, 2010, due to personal issues his family had. He is preparing to move to San Diego, with his new mama, Sarah, in October, 2010. Update: Little Winnie sadly went down in her back and died in January, 2013. Rest well, darling girl!
