Meeting potential mom and dads, exploring, walks, belly rubs (now that he knows what it is) and chewies. Lots of chewies
still not used to a foot tickle, taking his toy when he's laying down, needs to come to strangers, not strangers coming to him.
chewies and more chewies
anywhere peacefull. He can still be frightened by ordinary things like a flag pole, garbage bag in a fence..
making bruises on legs and sore toes from his big feet and wagging tail
Update- Taka is on a sleep over with a very nice couple. Lets hope it keeps going well. :-)
Below is a note they sent me this morning.
I just wanted to let you know yesterday after we left Taka was a complete gentleman, even at the vet (we gave him a bath and let him romp around) he took a liking to a little girl Chihuahua named bell lol. then we took him to pets mart to get him a toy of his choice lol and he was well behaved there. he was very gentle in greeting our friends which was good. after that Kevin and I went to dinner and to my mom's house, we were gone about 4 hours and we left him out, he tore up nothing everything was perfect. his walks keep getting better and better, today i may take him to the beach for a little jog. last night when we got home he was a little rebellious with the nipping and he isn't eating a bunch but he is eating. Kevin and Taka are like pea's in a pod, he adores Kevin already lol. so far we are extremely pleased. Just thought id let you know how the night went... talk to ya soon! ~Danielle

Taka was found back in Feb. stumbling and falling down, looking for food and licking the dirt, on the streets of downtown Jax.
I got him to my house and gave him food and vitamin water... He got to the vet swamped with gigantic fleas, infested with worms and weighed in the next day at 47 lbs.
the vet said he should be at 80lbs. Lots of TLC later, he now weighs around 85-90lbs. with the help of several people around Jacksonville who came to help him.
I'm not sure what kind of dog this is, Ive been told something of a pit/boxer or mastiff mix...
I'm just getting by now keeping him in food but he's starved for attention. I hope he can find a loving home soon.
Please let me know if your interested in meeting him downtowntown Jax.
Taka is a survivor. His poo was pure dirt and leaves for 2 days after I started feeding him. He is a big boy who can come accross very pushy, as he's never had anyone show him love, obviously having to fend for himself. I sometimes have had to put him on a chain for short periods, where he thinks he will be left forever unattended. He tries hard to break it to escape.
He's just learning to sit when the door is opened. Not to bolt inside knocking you over! He now knows what AC is, and has no desire to be outside now that it's hot.
He loves food, and there isn't much to go in the trash with him around. The first time I gave him a meatball, he rolled it around in his mouth, spit it out, tried it again after a thorough investigation....
Didn't know what meat or anything was. He goes though a lot of walmart chewies and wants ice in his water. He stays out of the trash, off the furniture, doesn't go for the toilet for a drink, really a good boy. Loves the water hose spray. Scared of fireworks, but belts out a bark that can stand your hair straight up. He hears everything, and he notices everything you may move about the house. He used to be afraid of the closet in "his bedroom" now he loves it, sleeping on the cool tile. I hung a storage shelf in the room, a tower fan.. he had to investigate to be sure it was safe.
He's not been socialized with other dogs. He is not friendly to most that I've seen him near. He can get over excited, playing rough. Loves to go for a run or a walk. I've used the word no so many times, he's catching on and is behaving better. I'm by myself and really never get visitors, so he isn't getting enough attention or meeting any potential mom and dads.
I have to say, over all he does make you feel safe and makes a good foot rest while watching TV.
Taka is Japanese for tall and honorable.
