Arrival Story:
The first photo seen here is K-10 at 7 months of age. My wife and I had decided a little over a year ago to try to find a high quality German Shepherd puppy to eventually rent out as stud service. We looked at a lot of puppies, all around 8 weeks of age, and none looked like what I was after. We found a breeder near Flemming, Colorado who had a few 7 week olds and drove up to take a look. I saw good quality, but again, not what I was after. The breeder told me he had a 4 month old he just purchased from a couple in Greeley, Colorado. The couple must not have been too smart, as they had purchased a German Shepherd puppy for a child that was a bleeder. Obviously it did not work out for them. I hesitated to look at the 4 month old, as some traits and behavior patterns had formed, but agreed to do so. The 4 month old puppy was beautiful! It was love at first sight. We immediately purchased him, and took him home. I had a strong feeling he had been abused in his prior home, as he was terrified of a fly swatter and thought his name meant "BAD DOG!" This went on for a few days, and several people told us the puppy appeared to have been abused and would never be normal. I knew better. We simply changed his name, and he immediately turned around 100% He turned into a fun loving animal and a good companion.

Bio:
K-10 is now over a year old and is an extremely gifted child. He understands over 100 different commands and questions, and his english vocabulary has to be well over 1000 words. He has been trained (keep in mind he is a German Shepherd) to retrieve waterfowl, small game, and loves deer hunting. He has also been trained in personal protection, home and vehicle protection, as well as supervising our 2 year old daughter while she plays outside. The first time we took K-10 to a facility that trains guard dogs to let him eat someone, they offered 3 times to purchase the puppy. I had used the same company for training other german shepherds, and never had an offer such as this. K-10's life is very busy. I take him to work with me whenever I can.

Dad took me to work today! It was hot, nearly 100 degrees. He had to measure a roof to give a bid on it. There was a boy there who liked to throw a ball for me, and he seemed to never run out of energy! How fun it was! I got to chase the ball for over 1 hour while dad measured the roof and talked to the house owner. They sat down on the porch and started drinking a barley beverage (no alcohol content) and soon after the house owner spotted a large rattle snake in the yard. He disposed of it, but dad made me stop playing fetch. Bummer. If dad gets the bid, I hope he waits till it's cold outside so I can go there too and play ball with a boy who never runs out of energy. I hate snakes. Why are they getting so over-populated? GRRR! Dad says it's due to the over-abundance of prairie dog towns in the area, as well as the division of wildlife setting restrictions on when and how many snakes can be legally harvested.
