My oopsy

Mom swears that every time she goes on vacation, something happens to one of us pups!

When my husky brudder was a baby still, he slipped past our neighbor's legs into his basement, and went to town on the rat potion box (I think I told you guyz this).

Well, this time Me, Cal, Anya, and my big sis Savannah stayed home with human gramma (Aero and husky brudder stayed with two of mom's coworkers-I heard they had the time of their lives!! Aero had lots of land to run on, and Tekoa went hiking up in Wisconsin!! I'm so jealous!)

Well, towards the end of my time alone with human gramma, she was walking me outside, and I got one of my toenails caught on something. I cried and yanked it free before gramma could even think of what to do. Gramma told mom what happened but when mom got home she saw that my toenail was turned 90 degrees to the side and bleeding near the base.

Mom could tell I was in pain cuz I was limping and licking it.

So I had to go to the evil man in the white coat. . .=_=
He told mom that I might've fractured my toe (mom knew I hadn't cuz otherwise, I wouldn't have been standing on that foot at all right?!), but just to be safe, she let the dogter take an x-ray. Needless to say, I was fracture free!

The dogter finally saw the bleeding near the base of my nail, and that it was cracked. So finally he came to the conclusion that mommy had brought me to the vet for originally: to cut the bad nail off.

Mom wasn't able to be with me back there. I was so scared that I. . . . . . .
. . . . .
. . . . .
Okay, I'll admit it!
X( I peed on myself o-_-o
None too proud of that.

But the nice dogters gave me a bath to freshen me back up.

They cut the nail pretty close to the bed, but not all the way. Mom was thinking that the nail would just grow back from there.
But eventually, the whole nail came off.

Where my toenail was is now just a fleshy, raw stub.

So now mom is wondering if my nail will even grow back at all.

I don't think I'd mind only have 3 nails on my foot, but mom doesn't seem too happy. She says she loves me through and through, she just feels it's a shame that I had to endure this.

It's not gramma's fault that I misplaced my foot, but I think mom wonders what will happen when she takes her next vacation. . . . .
I don't want to tell her that it's our secret mission to keep mom at home all the time! ^_~

Not limping but feelin' old,
-Rui

I went to the vet this evening and all is GREAT!! I got my vacs, and I'm good to go for another year!

Except for my extra 2 lbs. Mom explained that I always gain 2 or 3 lbs during the winter (cuz mom hates the cold and so do I), and we'd work it off very soon!!

I was acting very silly at the vet. They couldn't even take my picture right away cuz I was jumping around, spinning circles, and doing every trick I knew just because the lady was holding a treat!!

But I'm happy that I gave them lots of laughs!!

It IS annoying, isn't it??

I know Pirelli's Miracle Elixir is a very annoying song.
Mom saw Sweeney Todd in the theater when it first came out, and came home singing it all night.

And the day after.

And the day after that.

Soon, she was supplementing the lyrics with my name. . . and a bunch of other random sentences about anything I happened to be doing at the moment.

I sealed my fate when she started rubbing my butt while singing it, and I started doing my little butt jig. It gave mom a good laugh, especially since I'm more often than not right on beat . . .

So suffice it to say that this song has sorta become my theme.

I'm playing along as long as mom continues to let me sleep on her bed at night!

Very funny story!!!!

OK. So the other day, us pups were all resting, but mom kept hearing this scuffling noise over by the stairs. She was getting annoyed at Blue (the cat) cuz he likes to go downstairs and mess with stuff in the entry hall. Eventually, she got up to tell him to stop. Only when she finally looked down there.. . no cat.

Then she heard the scuffling noise again. . . and it was behind the wall right beside her. WOah!! So she looks thinkin, "Is this REALLY behind the wall??" And then Blue walks up, gives a little 'meow' and stares at the wall too.

Mom made three other people listen to confirm that she was right.

After awhile her imagination started getting the best of her: it went from "OH what if its a poor kitty" to "OMG!!! It's gotta be a rat!!!" O_O

Mom and us went out for a bit walking and enjoying the weather. When she got back, she sat down cuz she was soooo hot. She heard the noise again. This time BEHIND THE VENT GRATE!!!!

After human gramma came home, she got alarmed too (cuz by this point Mom was basically declaring "IT" a rat), and us dogs were tilting our heads at the grate cuz "IT" was obviously there trying to get out. So ma finally decided that a woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do! She came up with a plan.

She took the vent off, and put one of the dog crates in front. She stood beside the hole, holding the crate divider, so she could trap "IT" inside the crate when it came out.

scuffle. scuffle. scuffle. . . Her heart was beating so fast, hands shaking. Fear of the unknown.

And then OUT IT CAME!!!!!!

"IT" was flying!!!!!

Mom dropped the divider into place, but the bird was so small that it finally got free through the bars (in less than a second!) and started zipping towards everybody at high speed.

Mom ran screaming downstairs to the entry way.
Human gramma ran screaming into her bedroom and shut the door.
Mom's sister (the only sensible one really) ran to the back door and opened it.

The little birdie eventually landed. Hopped around. Looked at the back door. And zoomed out.

Mom's sister said, "and don't ever do that again little birdie!!" after it.

BOL!
haaaaaaaa. . . . All the humans were laughing so hard afterward. After all the panic, it was actually quite funny! ^v^

No more scuttling behind the wall now tho!! d^v^b

There must be some nest on our roof or something. . .

What's going on!!!!

Yesterday it was 65 degrees F outside. aaaah, the sun on my back, the long walk, the contented naps. . .

. . . .
. . . .
. . . .

Today.

Today, it was 35 and snowing!!!! O_O

I can't believe it!!!!!!! WHERE'S MY WAAAARMTH????!!!!!!

I hate the mud. I hate the cold. I hate being wet and soggy.

If the sun doesn't come back right this minute, I'm gonna . . . I'm gonna. . .

Well, I'm gonna sleep. That's what!!!

Why, Chicago?! Why???!!!!

Mom just did something VERY NAUGHTY!!!

I'm laying on the floor minding my own business, dreamin of the beach, when mom comes back in the room and sits in her computer chair.

Aero and Anya came over to say hello, and were steppin' on me and stuff, so I try to lift my head up to look.

BUT I WAS STUCK!!!!!!

I cried the highest pitched keen that I could, and mom and everybody looked at me startled, but mom couldn't figure out what was wrong!

My ear hair was stuck under her chair. Before she could figure it out tho, I already got unstuck.

I left about a handful of hair under the chair leg.

Mom said she was soooooo sorry! But will that put my fur back????

I don't think so!!

Bad mom! Now I'm gonna use your foot as a pillow!!

zzzzzzzzzz. . . . . . .

Sunbathing!

OMD!! I feel the sun today!!!

It's sooooo warm. My fur gets hot. . .just the way I like it!

Today, I'm definitely going for my walk!
But first I have to sunbath on the wood floors! AH! this is the life!

Soon, I'll get to go to the beach again. But first mom says I have to work on my recall.
I've absolutely perfected the art of ignoring her. On the one side of the dog beach the fence extends a little into the water: it separates the dogs from the humans' picnicing.
Well, I don't care if the water is deep or not, I run right around the fence, and alot of dogs follow me.

The only problem in mom's eyes is that they come back when their peepo call, and, well. . . I don't.
haaaaa, the things I've tried to eat!

Mom says it's embaraasing. I think it's all part of the summer fun! ^v~

Puppy breath once again. . .

Ma always says I helped her raise Tekoa. He was 6 wks old when he came to live with us, which is the time pups are learning to play with their littrmates. But I was here to show him the ropes: I tussled with him, let him know the rights and wrongs of biting. . .

I think I've done my part.

So when ma brought the new puppy, Aero, to me, I gave him a polite sniff, and went back to sleep. Ma says, " Rui, aren't you going to help me with him too??"

I think I've answered her question. "Not really."

Anya can have this one, and she's doing a fine job at it too: running, tussling, being bitten on. . . Yep, she can have this one.

I'm . . . going back to sleep.

Chubby and loving it!

haaaaaa. . . finally my winter pounds are all in place.

Don't worry! I'll share the winter recipe with you!

First: Sleep. A lot.
Second step: Act REEEAAALLY cold when ma takes you outside. that way she feels sorry if she forces you out for a walk.
Third: Eat. . . ah yess, the key factor, but third nonetheless. You cannot skip your meals, otherwise the pounds will slip.
Finally: Make sure the vet tells your ma that, "Sure! He's a healthy weight!" at your appointment. That way your ma won't mind you repeating steps 1-3 for the rest of the wintertime.

If you follow these steps closely, I guarantee that you will be the most incubated, and cuddliest pup on these mean winter streets.

As you can see, ma decided not to buy me a coat. But truly, at this rate, I won't need one. haha!

I have a little sister now!

Remember I wasn't too sure what it would be like to have a little sister??
Well, now I have one! Her name is Anya, and she is a very sweet cuddly pup!
She likes to play alot at night, and just like me, she sleeps a lot during the day! She's a bit shy tho. . . when ma asks her to come, Anya runs the other direction. I think it's kinda funny, but ma frowns at it.

Choma was mostly my husky-brudder's buddy, it seems like Anya will be my furiend -Tekoa is a little too rough for her. She ends up spinning her sweet little self around and telling him to back off! BOL!

I"m looking forward to being able to play outside with her. For now, it's soooo muddy and yucky.

Summer, where are you??
