They say it's my birthday

I hope I have a good time!
Technically, it's my Gotcha Day! Yep, I have been in my home for one year. I think they are gonna keep me around. Even though I am not supposed to eat poop. And I have some kind of internal alarm that goes off at 4am and then at about 4:45am. Mom lets me outside at both of those times. She's nice like that.
I hope, hope, hope Mom and I can go play with the Chuck-It today! Our pasture is so full of tall weeds its hard for Mom to walk and its hard for me to find the ball so we haven't been playing out there like we used to. Maybe we can play in the yard. That would be good with me.
And maybe I will get some extra treats or a bite of hamburger that the folks are gonna have for supper.
This might be a pretty good Gotcha Day!

Mom thinks I am disgusting

I am just trying to help.
I don't eat my own poop. That is disgusting.
But I clean up the other dogs poop. Mom has to be out there fast with the pooper scooper stuff or I will clean it up.
Just trying to be helpful.

The kennel

They played fetch with me!

It was skeery riding. I didn't want to get in the truck. Mom had to carry me. And it was skeery going in there.
But I got to be with my dog family so that helped me settle down.

And the people played fetch with me!

It was skeery leaving the place until I saw Mom, at first I only heard her calling to me. When she came into the big room I went to her.

Then I came home. I like it better at home.

But the people played fetch with me!

I have a new pal. Check out Duke.
He is being "fostered" (read adopted) and he came from the same shelter I was at last summer.
Check him out and he could use some pup pals too!

Urka-gurka in Mom's ear

Don't take that title literally. Does your Mom have bionic ears like mine?
It was dark o'clock and I had some urka-gurka happening. In the living room. On the new carpet.
Mom came flying, well, ok, so she walked fast, out of her bedroom. I mean, we do have a small house but wasn't she asleep back there? Maybe Moms don't really sleep. They must lay there waiting and listening. Mom admits she has a sound fetish. She has the need to identify all sounds in the house.
She knew the urka-gurka sound right away. She came out and walked very carefully, staring at the floor. She eased her way to the door. I urka-ed again. She had me go outside.
I felt better after being outside for a few minutes. Mom must have cleaned up the spots while I was outside. I went back to bed. Even though it was early, Mom stayed up. Probably to keep an eye on me. Maybe a bionic eye.

Antlers, no deer

As you can see in one of my photos, I got a new antler chew! Pups, I do recommend them! They are long-lasting and full of healthy stuff, you know, big word healthy stuff. You can get your pawrents to google it if you are really into that sort of thing. Me, I just chew the antlers because they are so good!
My antler came in the mail. Mom opened a box and there they were. Five nice antler pieces, one for each of us dogs, plus an extra. The little Zoe dog spends her time gathering them all up. Well, she takes Drover's antler and she stares at me and then takes my antler. She doesn't take Cindy's antler. But Mom is fair and hollers at Zoe and makes sure Drover and I have antlers.

Mom wants me to bark if you are interested in getting your very own antler you can find them to buy on ebay or some online pet stores carry them. Amazon.com has them too. Yes, they seem pricey, heck they are pricey. But they last a long time, seriously. I am barking months. We have one old chunk that Brother and Dad brought home from a hunting trip several years ago. That's another way to get antlers, go look for yours in the forest! Some places this is becoming illegal so check before "horn hunting", that's what the peeps call it around here.
If your pawrents decide to get you some, there are different sizes available. If you are a bigger size dog, get bigger sized antlers. They could pose a choking hazard and I want you to be safe.
Happy chewing!

Grilling weather

Dad was out there burning steaks today for the family. Nice, juicy, greasy steaks.
Later when the grill had cooled, I investigated.
There was some clean up Dad has missed. I don't think he realized there was a little pan hanging under the grill. It must have been there to catch grease.
It came off fairly easily. I cleaned it up the best I could. I used my tongue and even my teeth to get the last of the tasty goodness cleaned off.

We will need a new pan now.

What kind of dip goes best with Fritos?

Learning stuff

When I first came here I barked about stuff I had learned. I need to bark some more about stuff I have learned over the past months. A young dog can still learn a few things.

1. I have learned, from Drover, to go into the shower and get a nice drink of water from the shower floor.

2. From watching the other dogs I have learned what a Dog Bed is used for. I no longer sleep on the floor at night. I sleep on a Dog Bed, whichever one Cindy isn't using.

3. I have learned, from Cindy, to run at the horses next to the fence. That will usually get the horses to run. Fun!

4. I have learned from Zoe and Drover how to have fun with squeaky toys. More fun!

5. I have learned from Zoe to lay down under Mom and Brother's chairs when they are eating. I don't know why we do that, we don't get table scraps. But it is nice there.

6. I have learned to be nice to the garage kitty cats. They come out to meet me when I play with Mom and the Chuck-It. But on the other paw, I have learned, from Drover, to chase them if they happen to venture into the yard. We both get hollered at when we do that.

7. I have learned to play tug-o-war with Zoe. I am gentle with her but I could drag her all over the house!

8. I have learned to hunt for tasty treats in our yard. Mom isn't too pleased with me when I have been hunting. I seem to get something she calls "silent but deadly". I like to lay at her feet and she makes my one syllable name turn into about four syllables when I let loose. "Tuuuuuxxxxxx, ewwwww!"

9. I have learned to stick with Zoe. She knows that when we come inside and sit nice next to the pantry will we usually get a nice cookie. She is one smart pup!

10. I have learned not to be so jumpy with every little noise or movement. I am learning to relax! I can still have my "on" button pushed and I will spring into action.

I will be sure to keep you updated on anything else. Learning is fun!

Christening the new carpet

Isn't that what people do to new stuff?
Why did Mom think I did it? She didn't see me. It was that Notme dog.
She sure got ticked off and whipped out that Nature's Miracle spray quicker than you can bark "ruh-roh".
