I graduated last night from obedience school. Gabby did, too.
I did really well on the rally trial. My score was a 97 out of 100. The only thing me & Mama (she told me that we're a team) really messed up on was walking with a tight leash. But I was so tired & still didn't feel good that Mama had a hard time keeping me going. When we went up to the starting point to begin our turn, I laid down I was so tired. But I had a lot of fun. I'm gonna miss going to school, though. Me & Gabby always got so excited when we'd turn down the road the clubhouse is on. We couldn't wait to get out & see everyone &, of course, Gabby would start barking to announce that we had arrived. Mama wants to take me to the advanced class if the club has one, but that won't be for awhile.
The best thing is that I'm feeling a little better. My jaw still hurts & I still can't open my mouth very wide, but it's not swollen any more & my eye looks soooo much better (though it's still sore). I usually go outside in the backyard everyday, but so far I haven't wanted to (I bark when I'm ready to go in the backyard). So, nobody's made me, yet. My Nanny said that I need to rest & get better. But Mama is taking me walking everyday just so I can get some exercise.
Thank you to everyone who sent me get well wishes : )
Goodnight everyone.

Yesterday morning, me & Gabby were playing in the house. We were running around & having a good time. Somehow, Gabby accidentally scratched my eye & bit me. No one even knew I was hurt until a little later because I didn't yelp or anything when it happened. Daddy wasn't going to work yesterday (he's still getting over the flu), but he went in to treat me.
Mama, Nanny, & Daddy were complete messes. They all cried a little over me; I really scared them. My eye was completely red & filled with blood & the whole left side of my face was swollen. Daddy thought my jaw was broken. He did an x-ray; I was a really good boy & didn't have to be sedated for it. He did have to sedate me when he looked inside my mouth, though; my jaw hurt so bad that I wouldn't let him. Luckily, my jaw isn't broken. He examined my eye & decided that it's just a scratch (a blood vessel burst) & should heal fine. My mama was so worried that I was hurt worse than that. I stayed with Daddy at the clinic almost all day long; I took a nap on the couch that's there.
I have a couple of different kinds of medicine to take, but I should be fine. I'm not able to eat any dry dog food right now because it's kind of difficult to open my mouth, but Mama fixed me some baked chicken, a sweet potato, & an egg (some of my favorite people foods). It's the first time that I've had a whole meal of people food ever. She's going to get me some canned dog food tomorrow; I wish I could eat people food all the time instead of dog food.
My graduation from Obedience class is tomorrow night. We're going to have a rally trial. Mama's going to go ahead & let me go to it, even though I don't feel too well. She said that she & I are going to take it easy tomorrow night during class.
Gabby's told me she's sorry several times. I told her that she didn't mean to hurt me & not to worry about it. She's my sister & I love her. I could never be mad at her for anything.

It's a year ago that my great grandaddy died (my Mama's grandad). He died a little past midnight on Sept 28; he was 83 years old.
Grandaddy had battled Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's, prostate cancer, congestive heart failure, COPD, emphysema, Diabetes, thyroid disease, he had had a catheter for 3 years, & had been in a wheelchair for the last several months of his life. It seemed that towards the end Grandaddy just had more & more health problems. Mama & Nanny helped Grandma take care of him. In fact, they lived with my great-grandparents for about 3 years when Grandaddy was really bad off.
Grandaddy had a triple bypass in 2001 when Mama was 17 years old. The surgery went fine, but there were complications later before he was released to go home. His kidneys stopped functioning & his body started trying to shut down. He was in the hospital for 61 days. Mama says that she'll never forget the nurses rushing Grandaddy down the hallway from having a CT scan & he was flat lining. But he survived.
He lived for a little more than 7 years after that. And although, he was never really the same, at least he had some good years. He got to meet a great grandson (J.R.), all of us doggy great grandchildren, & my daddy. Not to mention, that he finally got to see his dream come true of moving to the country & having a pond.
Grandaddy loved all dogs & cats, but I think I was his favorite out of us doggies. Mama & Daddy had only had me for a month & a half when he died. But he used to hold me a lot & let me take naps with him in his bed. He used to say that I was "one pretty boy." He always wanted to take me hunting; with Mama & Daddy going with him, of course. They haven't taken me yet, but maybe one day they will just for Grandaddy.
We all miss him, but at least he isn't in any pain anymore & he's watching over us. Mama & Nanny have both always said that the song "In Color" by Jamey Johnson fits my grandaddy to a tee. So, if you hear that song playing anywhere tomorrow, think of my grandaddy.

Mama & Daddy have been telling us that we were getting a surprise, but I didn't know that it was going to be a new sister & so soon.
Emma joined our family yesterday. So far, I really like her, even though she hasn't played with me much. She & Gabby have been buddy-buddy today. And unlike Hunter, I'll share my chewies with her.

On Tuesday night, Mama & Nanny took me & Hunter to obedience class. Mama really wanted Hunter to go because he's the grouchy one of us dogs. She was hoping that it would help him become a little more socialized to strange dogs & people. I only went so that Hunter would feel a more comfortable & do better. But he ended up not doing it, at all. Me & Mama went ahead & joined the class, though. She said that it won't hurt me to get in a little more socialization, either.
I had so much fun & I met a lot of new dogs. Plus, I did really well. I can't wait until the next class because we're supposed to learn the command sit. And I had learned how to do that by the time that I was 12 weeks old (Daddy's always called me his smart boy). It's gonna be fun : )

I had the best time today. First, I dug a whole under the fence in the backyard & I got out. I went down to the pond & jumped in. It was fun swimming with all of those catfish. Mama made me & Hunter come inside after that. Which was fine with us (we have to go outside & stay in the backyard for a few hours everyday & we hate it). Later this afternoon, my pal Banjo came to the storm door on the front of the house. He wanted us to go out & play. So, I reached up & put my paw on the latch & opened the door. We had the best time: chasing guineas & cats, going down to the pond. Then, I saw the kittens. I love kittens (puppies, too). They were sitting under the steps. I went over to them & just stared at them. Hunter came over, too, & helped me stare. That's when Mama caught us. She didn't really scold us or anything, but she did lock the door when we went back in.
