Arrival Story:
I was my Mommy's 50th birthday gift. Mommy and Daddy found me on a breeder's website and thought I was coming from there, but I actually came all the way from Russia (my breeder was a friend of the one in the U.S.). I had an 18-hour flight with a layover in Amsterdam, but when I arrived in SFO, there was my new Mommy and Daddy! Mommy carried me on her chest and shoulder all the way home, where I had lots of new toys, my own comfy bed, a comfy crate, and all the yummies I could ever want. I go everywhere with them, even on long trips. I love my family!

I don't remember anything about my very young puppyhood, but I came to my permanent home when I was about 12 weeks old. The breeder won't send my papers, but Mommy and Daddy keep trying. They're in Russian anyway, but I know they'd like to have them and get me into the AKC. I don't care, though - their last doggie was a pound puppy who they had for 17 years, and they loved her forever. They don't care if I'm a purebreed or a pound puppy; they love me for me.

I Wish I Had a Pool

It's really, really hot where I live today - almost to 100 degrees. My mommy slept all day, and I've been with my Daddy. I heard Daddy tell Mommy that they were going on a long drive somewhere to eat dinner so they could ride in the air conditioned car and eat in an air conditioned restaurant. I wish I could go, but I know that I can't go into restaurants. At least when they go somewhere, they aim a lot of fans at my carrier and put blocks of ice in front of the fans so the moving air blows across the ice before it hits me. It cools the air down and feels like air conditioning to me. My house is three stories high, so they don't turn on the house A/C because the bill would be too high. You don't really feel it anyway - this house also has 30 ft. high ceilings. My Daddy lost his job, so maybe we'll move back to where my Mommy came from. I don't know a lot about it, but she comes from San Francisco, and we live on a mountain above Palm Springs right now. I don't like being around the desert, and I know they don't, either.

The good news is that Mommy is in remission. I'm so happy! I make sure that I'm right there when she walks because she still falls a lot. In fact, she fell last night and I was right there to catch her. She put out her hand and it landed on my back so she didn't fall all the way. I try to be a good helper to my Mommy. I even run to her aid when I see a big bug I'd rather be eating.

A Lazy Day

Mommy was sleeping most of the day, so I curled up next to her back where she got all the shots to try and keep her warm and comfy. She's awake now, though, so I can go play with one of my toys until it's time for dinner. Then I'm going to go back to sleep while she knits. I had to keep an eye on her because I kept hearing lots of noise from upstairs. I tried not to bark, though, because I didn't want to wake her up, so I got up and ran upstairs to attack the intruder. Silly me... it was only Daddy coming home from the store or the post office.

I just got over being sick, so I can't have any extra yummies for a while. I can't wait to have some, though. My parents are having steak tonight, so maybe they'll give me just a little piece. That's not a real yummy; that's just them sharing their dinner with me. :)

Another Hard Day Helping Mommy

My mommy is very sick, and part of my job is to try and make her feel better. I sometimes hear Mommy and Daddy saying the word "terminal", but they're not happy when they say it, so I don't think it's like for a train or anything. Mommy was very sad today and hurt a lot, so I've wrapped myself around her back and gone to sleep. I wanted to write a little entry for my diary, but now I have to go help Mommy some more. She always makes me a little hamburger or a hot dog if they're eating those, and last night, I got a grilled cheese sandwich (well, a little piece of it). I hope Mommy is feeling well enough to cook. I love it when she's in the kitchen; I always go in there with her and help by licking up anything that she drops on the floor.

I'll be back soon to write more about my life and family. I love them very much, and I know they love me.
