Bad Josey

Mom is really mad at me tonight. When she let us out tonight there was a bunny in the yard and mom didn't realize it until it was too late.

I chased the bunny into her garden and something bad happened to it..... Mom was super upset with me. I've never seen her so mad and upset. Then she had to go back outside and dispose of the bunny and she got even more upset.

I'm pretty sure I'm on Santa's naughty list now :(

Bad day for me :(

I got sick in the house early this morning. Mum & dad were still sleeping and my tummy was upset. I've never ever ever made an accident in the house! How embarassing!!!

Mum has been really nice to me though. She said it was ok and she's gonna make me some boiled hamburger & rice to eat until my tummy settles down.

My ear seems to be getting better now. I guess that's good news. Ah jeez, I don't like being sick :( but I don't like having accidents in the house even more! I'm feeling a little better but I'm kind of tired.

I was a DDP pick a little while back and I want to say thanks to all my friends who sent gifts and notes of congratulations! You guys are truly pawsome!! Mr. Tuggles & family, Bailey, and Saphira; thank you all for the gifts! I loved them!!!

Our little beagle houseguest has gone home. I'm really disappointed cause she wouldn't play with me :( I did my play woof, my play bow, and I stole her toy and tried to get her to chase me....nope, no luck. Mom said its just cause I was so much bigger, she didn't know what to make of me. I was bummed out. All I want to do is play!

Hey gang, I'm back!

Hello everyone!

I couldn't get on Dogster for awhile cause my mom was out of town for a funeral. But she's home now & I'm so happy! Before she left she was upset, and I didn't like it. When mom's upset, we're nervous & upset too. She's better now, but I still see her get sad sometimes during the day. Then I give her one of my famous big sloppy Josey kisses and that seems to cheer her up!

Last night our pawrents took us to Yappy Hour. I had no idea what this was and I was nervous & crying in the car. We stopped at this outdoor cafe and there were strange people and strange dogs there too! I didn't know what to make of all this and at first I was afraid they were going to leave me there. So when dad sat down, I practically crawled on dad's lap. But then I saw that nice lady who grooms me and her husband so I went to say hi. Oh then, this little teeny tiny dog kept sniffing my butt & everytime I turned around it would run away. It was like a ninja butt sniffing dog!! BOL! I got to meet other really nice dogs & people and I had fun. My pawrents said we'll go again!!

Today we got a house guest! A beagle will be staying with us for a whole week! I was excited and did my play bow & bark, but I think my bark scared her cause she ran the other way. I hope she's not scared of me all week...I wanna play!!!!!

1. Do you ever wake your parents up in the night?

Very rarely. Once I woke them up cause I was barking...the bear was outside!! Otherwise I don't wake them.


2. Do you ever tear up things?

Um, do my stuffy toys count? Actually I don't even tear those up anymore, but some do lose their limbs during a tug of war game!! But I've never destroyed anything of mom or dads!!

3. What is your favorite treat?

I really really really really love chicken.


4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?

Yes! But I don't like to give it to you once I've fetched. I'd much rather play tug of war with it!


5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

Oh yes. Before I came to live with mom & dad I lived with my foster mom Yvonne. She is a great lady and I liked staying with her and her husband very much. They saved me from the kill shelter...I was up to be ...eeek! I can't even say it! Their rescue group found me just in time. Before I got to that kill shelter I had an interesting life....but I can't quite talk about it yet. (mostly cause mom doesn't know how I got to that kill shelter!)

BEAR!!!!!

WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF! BEAR! MOM THERE'S A BEAR OUT HERE!!

That's what it sounded like this morning!! Mom let me & Lily out into the yard and all of a sudden she heard us barking. Normally if Lily barks she doesn't worry too much because Lily barks at everything. But when she heard ME bark, she knew something was up cause I don't bark except for when I see something odd.

So mom looks out the kitchen window and see us barking and looking at the grassy field next to us. Now I call it a "field" because its a large open area, but technically its the neighbor's yard. But its big and there's a tiny creek that runs through it. When mom looks over there she see's a huge black BEAR lumbering through!! Now this was at 9:30 in the morning!!! We've seen them at night or very early morning, but never this late in the morning!!!

Mom yells to dad, "#@&%*(censored!)!!! Its the bear!" And they both come running outside.

Meanwhile we're still barking up a storm (and tromping all over mom's garden) and mr. bear is just casually walking out of the field. La dee da...nothing bothering him!

WOW! What an exciting morning!! WOOF WOOF WOOF BEAR!!!!!!

Yuck! What's in that?

So mom & I have been reading a couple holistic pet care books and we found out about some stuff that I just have to bark about!! Well, we already knew that many commercial pet foods use "pieces" of animals in their foods...like chicken meal could be made from ANY part of the chicken. Now we found out about "rendering plants."

Do you know about those? Well we didn't ..scary stuff in those places. They take slaughterhouse leftovers, road kill, livestock that was unfit for human consumption and in some of the smaller plants, euthanized pets!!!! If that's not scary enough, there are more details guaranteed to scare your tail off....many of the deceased animals have ingested pesticide laden grains, or have died from cancer or similar deadly diseases, or have other chemical contaminants in them.

Basically what a rendering plant does is boil down all these parts of animals and sells off the "useable" leftovers. But often what also gets boiled down are collars of animals, id tags, pins, needles, plastics and styrofoam. And those substances could possibly be going into our pet food!

Mom & I are just horrified about this. We had no idea it could be this bad! So we wanted to share what we've learned so far with all of our friends. We still have lots of reading and research to do...seems like this is just the tip of the iceburg.

Red

2. What kind of food do you eat?
I get Nature's Variety Instinct dry dog food. I also get a bit of Merrick canned mixed in....but lately mom has been cooking for us and instead of the Merrick we get chicken, brown rice and carrots mixed in. YUMMO!

3. What are your favorite treats?
I'd do almost anything for beefy or chicken jerky!!

4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other?
Nope! Althought I am Daddy's Valentine - mom got me for him on 2/15 :)

5. Do you get table scraps?
No, not really. I will occassionally get a piece of meat if there's no spices on it, or pizza crust.

6. What is your favorite toy?
Um, squeekies of course! I *had* a Wubba that made the most awesomest squeeks, but sadly I had to kill it :) Oh and I have this big ball outside with a handle on it that I like too.

7. When is your birthday?
I was adopted from a rescue group and they didn't know my birthdate. They estimated it to be March 2007. My gotcha date is 2/15/08.

8. How many times a day do you eat?
Twice, breakfast & dinner

9. Do you have a favorite color?
Hmm, I'd say GREEN cause everything good is green - grass, tennis balls, etc.

10. Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary?
Of course! I LOVE to learn about my Pals!
