I can't believe I am three years old now. I love my life and adore my family. I am still having to treat my ears, but I am doing better and feeling better too. Thanks again everyone!!

Ear Problems

Last Saturday I kept everyone up by shaking my head. On Sunday morning, Auntie and Grandma took me to the ER to see my vet. He talked my family into bringing me back to the vet on Monday morning and putting me to sleep to clean out my ears. I was so scared, but Auntie stayed with me until I was relaxed enough to let her go. I could see her tears as she left me there. At 11:30 a.m., Auntie came back to pick me up, but the doctor didn't have very good news. He told Auntie that my ears are really swollen and I need antibiotics, pain pills, ear drops, and laser therapy. My ear surgery was last Monday, March 19th, and I had laser therapy on Wednesday, Friday, and will go again tomorrow. It is just a red light that stimulates heat to my ears to promote blood flow, so my swollen glands can heal. I have to be on the ear drops every day for a month, and then three times a week forever. I am finished with my pain pills and antibiotics and I am eating better again. Auntie bought me some Science Diet Ideal Balanced dry dog food and can food. Sometimes I am quiet, and I know my family worries about me, but I am doing better. Every time I go back for laser therapy, the doctor says my ears look a lot better. Pippin and Piper also have problems with their ears, and Auntie's cat, Kay, had to go to the vet with me this last Wednesday, because she kept shaking her head. She has ear mites, and is getting ear medicine two times a week. We are just not lucky when it comes to ears. But, I am doing better, and we are all thankful for that!

Gotcha Day

Today is my Gotcha Day. I have officially owned my family for two years now. And let me tell you, it has been good. A lot better than where I was living. I had fleas, ear mites, worms, sores from fleas... you name it. I am living the good life now, and my family is always telling me what "a good dog I am", or "Petey, you are so smart". I am very loved!! I get Chef Michael's food, lots of treats, car rides, I sleep with Grandma or Tammy, and always get a bit of table food on Sundays. Grandma sometimes will buy me a McDouble at McDonald's on Saturday afternoons. I get regular doctor visits, worm pills to prevent those nasty worms, flea medication, baths and grooms, toys (although I will never give up my Buddie Dog).. I get it all!! Isn't it wonderful to be loved?! Thank you to all of my Dogster friends who have wished me a Happy Gotcha Day today!

Easter... And My Birthday

This morning I run to jump on Auntie's bed to wake her up and I get a lot of hugs and wishes for a Happy Birthday!! Auntie keeps saying, "Petey, it's your birthday!!" I am not really sure what that means, but it has to mean something good. We wait around until 11:30 a.m., and the turkey smell coming from the oven smells heavenly. Finally, Auntie Tabitha and Pippin comes over and Pippin and I get a small dish of turkey breast. After our Easter dinner, Pippin and I get to go through our Easter baskets. I get Easter cards, and then from Grandma I get beef jerky, Cesar snacks and beef and cheese Jack links. From Auntie Tabitha and Pippin, I get beef jerky, a stuffed dog with Bunny Ears (which I immediately chop off his nose), and Denta Stix. From Auntie, I get cowboy steaks, busy rollhide bones and Big Blast bones. We get to go to Sonic to get drinks and then a ride through the park. Once we get home, I get to open birthday gifts. I do real well at opening my own gifts, getting pieces of birthday paper and ripping it off with my teeth. I have so much fun opening my gifts. From Auntie, I get a case of Chef Michael's dog food, Peanut Butter and Jerky treats, chicken stix, a lion toy, a loofa dog, a giraffe squeaker, chewnola bones and a big bag of Beggin Strips. From Auntie Tabitha and Pippin, I get a case of Chef Michael's food and a sock monkey. From Grandma, I get a case of Chef Michael's food, a skunk toy, and dingo sticks. And, from my good friends from Hawaii, Peanut and Lovey, I get a stuffed Pug dog wearing a birthday hat and some plastic eggs with doggie treats inside. I loved the treats. Thank you so much, Peanut and Lovey. And, a special thank you to all of my Dogster friends who sent me birthday rosettes, paw mail and birthday wishes. Later, we get cake and ice cream. Auntie Tabitha took a lot of pictures too, so maybe I can up load those to my page later. Auntie Tabitha even gives us an Easter Egg Hunt and I do so well at finding those eggs, even if we did have to hide/find them in the house!
I hope everyone had a good day like I did!!

Auntie Rebecca's House

Yesterday we went to Auntie Rebecca's house for Cousin Garen's Birthday party. I got so excited when Doggie Cousins, Sadie and Bo came out to greet us. The best part is when Auntie did not put a harness or leash on me or Pippin. Auntie Rebecca lives out in the country and has a huge yard, so Pippin and I got to run around all day. Of course, I got into trouble a couple of times for getting too close to the road. And, then, one time, as I was coming back, Sadie and Bo must have thought I was a stray dog coming into their yard, because both of them took after me, growling and nipping. I ran to Auntie, and Sadie and Bo got into trouble and I got in the car for awhile. Uncle Tim cooked on the grill and Grandma shared her chicken and steak with me and I got a taste of Root Beer when I spilled Grandma's cup all over the sidewalk. Cousins Hunter and Garen rode on their four wheeler and Pippin and I had to make sure to stay out of the way. I guess I kind of got into trouble in the house too, because I grabbed Auntie Rebecca's Ty Bunny Rabbit and I had to be chased down. Then I spilled a basket full of plastic eggs a couple of times. I can't really be blamed for that though, because those eggs looked like soccer balls, foot balls, and baseballs, and I just thought they were something to play with! Pippin and I had a great time though and slept all the way home. Now onto Easter and my Birthday party!!

Another Trip to the Vet

Auntie had to take me to the vet on Thursday. It was pouring down raining, but I have been shaking my head again. I started shaking as soon as we got into the vet's office, but Auntie sit on the low rise chair and I got to sit in her lap. I got weighed and I weigh 35.9 pounds. Auntie lifted me up on the exam table and I tried crawling back into her arms. The doctor checked my ears and told Auntie that they are all red and swollen. She swabbed my ears and I made Auntie hold me until the doctor came back into the room to give us the results. She told us that I have some yeast and bacteria. I got an allergy shot (which makes me drink more and urinate more, but it is suppose to reduce the swelling in my ears), two weeks of antibiotics, which Auntie crushes up and hides in peanut butter, and some nasty smelling ear drops that have to be put in two times a day. I hate the ear drops the most, but Auntie always gives me beef jerky for being a good boy, if I endure it. This morning, Auntie took me for a walk down the road and all around the ball park. I think she secretly wants me to lose a bit of my weight. I am not shaking my head too much now, except after those nasty ear drops goes in. We are all doing pretty good here,.. now we are just waiting for Spring!!

This last weekend, Auntie Trisha and her family came down to visit from Indiana. I got to meet my new human cousin, Elaina. Very cute with a lot of curls. She reminded me of a poodle dog! A lot of other family visited our home this weekend too, and Pippin and I got to bark a lot. I got ice cream at Sonic and Auntie took me for a walk in the park. I also got a walk down the road from our house to the ball park and walked all around it. I sure got tired a lot, but we had a great time. Maybe next time, Cousin Pug Jinx, will come too!

South East Kansas Snow Blizzard

Yesterday we had a snow blizzard and an official snow day. I didn't realize it, but snow equals boredom. Pippin's mom did not go to work, and she didn't bring Pippin over here either, so I had a boring day. Today the sun is shining, but the snow is high in some places and we still haven't dug all of the snow out of our driveway. Grandma did dig me a path so I can go out, but we hear Pippin refuses to go out at all. Maybe he will go out here, as his mom is going to try and go to work tonight. Pippin has been favoring his back leg again, so he gets picked up and carried a lot. My family says I weigh too much, even though I am still picky when it comes to my food. We have another snow day today, and all I have done all day is watch Auntie clean house. I don't think I will be getting a car ride any time soon either. I hope all of my friends are keeping warm. And.. be safe out there.

A Forgotten Christmas Gift

The other day, Auntie went in her room to get her robe off the back of her door and found a Christmas gift there for me. She had forgotten she hid it from me a long time ago. It was the Christmas Bear, Chance, from Pet Smart. He is a cute furry bear with a red scarf around his neck that says, "2010". And the best part is, he has a squeaker! Also, after Christmas, Grandma went to Wal-Mart and got me a Dog Pillow Pet too. Pippin got one for Christmas, the only one left in the store. However, after Christmas, Grandma said there was a bunch of them, so I got one too. I love him!! Auntie has it spread out on the sofa and I get up there and lie on him and go to sleep! He is so soft and furry. I had a wonderful Christmas and even got gifts after the holidays were over too!!

Christmas!!

It has been a very busy Christmas week, but I have been having the time of my life. Last Saturday, Auntie Judith and Uncle Robin came down and we opened gifts and ordered pizza. Then on Sunday, we all drove to Auntie Rebecca's house about an hour away. I was so sad though to discover that my friend, Kinzy, got hit by a car a few days before. Cousin Garen really played with me because he misses Kinzy so much. Auntie Rebecca got me a Santa Loofa dog, a package of Pup Peproni's and a package of mini Busy Bones. We had Cornish Hens for lunch and we got to take a lot of goodies home with us. Yesterday was Christmas with our family and we went over to Pippin' house. I was having so much fun with the wrapping paper and kept running around in circles. I got some doggie steps so it isn't so hard for me and Pippin to go up on the sofa. I got a Rabbit Magic hat with three squeaky bunnies inside and I am suppose to get the bunnies out. I got a stuffed platypus similiar to the magic hat, but this one has squeaky eggs inside and I am suppose to pull them out. I got a squeezy yellow ball, a stuffed dog with a Santa Hat on, a squeaky raccoon and Auntie Trisha sent me a raccoon that makes noise, from Indiana. I got a no stuffing alligator dog toy that has two different sounding squeakers, a package of Pup Peroni combo bites, a huge bag of Beggin Strips, a small bag of Beggin Strips, a package of cowboy steaks, a package of Denti Stix, a package of Busy Chewnonla bones, a box of Advantage flea medicine, a box of Interceptor, a package of Pup Peproni and a package of beef jerky. My good friends, Peanut and Lovey, from Hawaii, sent me and Pippin a package of Peanut Butter and Banana doggie treats. Thank you Peanut and Lovey. I had a great time. We even braved the weather and went out to Grandpaw's grave site to give him some pretty red flowers. I had a wonderful Christmas, although that very same evening, I was back to chewing and sucking on my old Buddie Dog. You can never replace your best friend!
