Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving and I can't wait for the turkey. I think turkey is my favorite meat, because it is also my favorite flavor in the Chef Micahel's entrees. I have a lot to be thankful for this year, and I am so ever lasting thankful that I found such a loving family and have a wonderful and warm home.
Yesterday, Auntie and Grandma mom did not have to work in the daycare, so I really had fun. We went over to Pippin's house for chocolate chip pancakes, and although I didn't get any, it is always nice to be included. I played with Pippin's toys and then Pippin and I got a ride to Chanute and got a chicken strip sandwich at Sonic. When we got back to Pippin's house, everyone started putting up this tree in the living room and decorating it with colorful balls. I kept chewing on the lower branches of the tree, but I kept getting scolded for it too. I think Auntie mom got some pictures of "the crime". I love going over to Pippin's house, but I kept getting in trouble too. I went in the guest room and grabbed a bag of prescription medicine and dragged it into the living room. Auntie Trisha quickly took that away from me. Then Cousin Tanner got a big bag of beef jerky from his mom's suit case and then me and Pippin kept chasing him around the room trying to get it away from him. We love beef jerky. Today more company is arriving because Auntie Judith and Uncle Robin are coming from Topeka. And did I mention we are having turkey and ham??!! Oh boy, I can't wait. I am still sleeping with Auntie mom at night and it isn't too bad. She does complain that I take up too much room and one point she dragged me over because she said I was knocking her off the bed. I think Auntie mom just likes to complain though! :-)
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

The Guy in the Big Red Suit

I have been having fun with family from Indiana. I am petted and played with almost all of the time now. I am going to miss the quiet when everyone is gone this weekend. There is still lots to look forward to. Pippin and I are going to go see Santa Claus this weekend. I am not sure who the man is, but if he looks like the man standing outside my front door, I am going to bark like crazy. Auntie, Pippin and his mom let me out the front door because we were going for a car ride. Imagine my surprise when I discover a man standing by the door in a red suit. I am very surprised to see this man and back and lunge back when I first encounter him. I start barking at him, and keep barking at him, and the entire time Auntie and Pippin's mom is laughing at me. I guess the man ends up not being real, but he is still standing and to me... that is still a threat. I am a very good protector and a very good watch dog. I don't know whether to protect or to hide from this particular man though, because he always seems to be there by the door. I wonder how long he is staying. And if he is suppose to bring gifts like Auntie says, why isn't he getting to it? I am definitely learning a lot as I am getting older!!

New Moon

Sleeping with Auntie mom did not go over too well. Auntie mom tried to get me to sleep with her, but I kept getting out of her bed and going to the door to be let out. I ended up sleeping between Grandma mom and one of the kids. I don't think Grandma mom got much sleep though. Auntie mom takes me outside this morning and since I got my shipment of Chef Michael's food, I get a Smoked Turkey flavor for breakfast. I eat every bite, all by myself! My newly met relatives come over around 8:30 a.m. and I get to play, show off, and eat some "people breakfast". I run and play all morning and have the time of my life. Then it happens.... Auntie mom puts me in my crate and tells me I am sorry. She tells me they will be "right back", but it is almost 4 and a half hours later when she finally comes back and lets me out of my prison. My family went to see the new movie, New Moon and then they went out to eat at A&W. Did they bring anything back for me? NO. I am sorely disappointed. It is totally not fair. I did hold my bladder for that long though, so I am very proud of myself. We all pile in the car, and after picking up Pippin, we go and feed the stray cats. Did I tell you that I never sleep when I am in my crate? I am tired. I try falling asleep on the ride, but it is hard to do when my car seat isn't in the car. The board from the front to the back seat is gone too. Where is a dog suppose to go and get some shut eye? I play some when we get back to my house and I eat all of my dinner. Auntie mom gives me a treat of a small bowl of ice cream too. I am wondering where I am going to sleep tonight. Maybe with Auntie mom, but maybe with Grandma mom again. We shall see....

Pippin's mom puts me in my crate this morning. I think she does it because Auntie and Grandma mom can't stand to hear me crying. I eventually stop, but I hate going in my pen. Auntie mom comes to release me around 12:30 p.m. and I am so happy that I bark and whine at the top of my voice. Auntie mom takes me outside right away, but when I walk by the gate, I can see that someone is here. Grandma mom is on the front walk talking to some people and I raise my ruckus of barking. Auntie mom keeps telling me to "find my spot" so we can go greet the guests. I hurry and then run to the back door to be let in. Auntie mom opens the back door and I run straight for the front door. I want to greet people now! Auntie mom does let me out in the front yard and I go around barking and sniffing at everyone's legs. Family has arrived from Indiana and there are some young ones! We all go in the play room and I show off for everyone, although I keep my distance too. I warm up to everyone quick enough and soon we are making the journey over to Pippin's house. I love Pippin's house and right away I head for his toys. Pippin and I play and eat and watch the family play Wii. Later we order pizza and Auntie mom lets me have a lot of her white chicken off of her pieces. We go for a quick car ride to feed the stray cats and then we head for home. Cousin Trent and Dakota are spending the night at my house and I am so excited. I keep bouncing on the air bed and dragging my Buddie Dog around for everyone to see. I am suppose to sleep with Auntie mom tonight, but I keep getting off the bed and going to her door. I am use to sleeping with Grandma mom and finally I snuggle down between her and one of the kids. Now if we get any sleep... that is another story..

Cleaning in November?

Auntie mom has been doing a lot of cleaning lately. I have to rely on entertaining myself with chasing the outdoor cats or irritating all of the daycare kids. Sometimes the kids will throw my Buddie Dog for me to chase and retrieve, but mainly I just annoy them by grabbing and chewing on their shoes or trying to eat whatever they may have in their hands. Auntie mom is cleaning because family is coming from Indiana on Saturday! Auntie Trisha, Uncle Brian, Cousin Trent, Cousin Dakota and Cousin Tanner. Now I met Trent during the Summer when he came to Kansas to stay with his real dad, but I haven't met anyone else. Also when Trent was here I was really small, so I don't really remember him that much. Auntie mom is dusting, which I love to chase and chew on her duster, doing a lot of laundry, and basically just cleaning everything. Now I hope family doesn't mean I am in my crate more than usual. I know the family is going to see the New Moon movie on Sunday afternoon, so I think I will have to be put to jail during that time. I am not going to like that, because I am already in my crate on Saturday mornings. But I also hear that Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Pippin tells me that we have turkey on that day. Like Pippin, I LOVE turkey!! Getting turkey may be worth being in my crate a little more than usual. You think?

I SWEAR it was an Accident!

Today I had an accident. The bad thing is that I had this accident in the car. At first, Auntie mom, Pippin and his mom thought I just had gas. I tend to have gas a lot, especially in the car. Even when it is cold outside, the windows still get rolled down, because evidently I smell so bad. Auntie mom smells it first and says there is some serious "gas" in the car. Pippin's mom starts waving her hand in front of her face and saying, "OMD, Petey!". Evidently Pippin and I smell differently, because he doesn't get blamed this time. Of course he is sitting on his mom's lap in the front seat and that isn't where "the smell" is coming from. Then Pippin's mom says, "I think Petey actually did it the way it smells". Auntie mom takes a glance in the back seat and says, "OMD, he DID!!" Auntie mom immediately stops, so, of course, I get all excited, thinking I am going to get out too. Auntie mom tells me not to move out of the car seat because she doesn't want me to step in IT. Pippin's mom gets out the moist cloths from the glove compartment and Auntie mom goes around the car to open the back door. OMD, I DO smell. Auntie mom does the best she can at cleaning up my mess and then we have to hurry home so she can clean it some more. But.. I swear it was an accident. I don't think Grandma mom will buy that though, so I lay low for awhile and try and give them the impression that I am not feeling well. I don't get in trouble at all... maybe I am learning how to wrap my family around my little paw after all!

Honking Geese Sound like Barking Dogs

November 14th 2009 6:43 pm

Today is Saturday and I had to go in my crate. I always "know" because Auntie mom puts food and water in there. I always try and run and hide, but I always get caught and then my pursurer always apologizes to me the entire time I am being "locked" up. I know my family feels guilty for locking me up, but it doesn't always stop them from doing it. I do always eat all of my food while locked up inside my crate, so I guess that is a good thing since I am becoming so picky with food lately. Auntie mom is the one that lets me out when they return and I am barking and running and jumping and just so thankful to be "OUT!" Auntie mom takes me outside and then I "help" her put things away. I got Pup Peroni, Beggin Strips, Beef Jerky, Puppy Chow, and some Cesar food. Auntie mom also got this jingle bell "HO HO HO" elastic thing that goes around my neck. She says I can wear it when I see Santa Claus on the 28th, but I don't like it. Of course since it goes around my neck, I am having a hard time getting it off, but nothing is impossible. Auntie mom goes to clean out my crate and I immediately back away and run for the hills! There is no way I am getting back in my crate so soon. When everyone heads towards the front door, I am right in front. When the car door is opened, I jump in and get back in the car seat and no one is going to tell me I can't go. Grandma mom feeds me and Pippin some Beggin Strips and then I.....sleep. Have I told you that I never sleep in my crate? Pippin and I both sleep some in the car, but we are always awake when anyone mentions the word, "Dog", or "Squirrel" and we really bark ourselves to death when we drive through the park and see all of those squirrels. Pippin spends the evening with us while his mom goes to see her friend, and when Auntie mom takes us outdoors, I stop to listen. There is something "barking" and I immediately take off down to the North end of the yard. I bark and bark, but keep looking towards the sky. Auntie mom hears it too, but by this time, it is moving to the South end of the yard, so I take off in that direction. Now Auntie mom is laughing and keeps telling me it is Geese and not dogs barking. I don't know what a geese is, but I hope Auntie mom knows these barking dogs can fly!

Windy Weather

The weather has been really windy lately, but I rather enjoy sitting outside and sniffing the air. I do the same thing when I go for a car ride with Auntie mom. I stand up in the car seat behind Auntie mom's driver's seat and stick my head out of the small opening in Auntie mom's front window. I am very attentive and most times I see things before Auntie mom does. If I start barking, she is the one that is looking around, wondering what I am seeing. I don't take very many naps during the day, saving it all up for night time instead. I keep busy playing with the daycare kids, chasing the outdoor cats and playing with my toys. When I want to play, I will grab one of my toys and go stand up to Auntie mom's legs with the toy in my mouth, asking her to play with me. Grandma mom is always saying I am lonely and I just want to play, and that sounds right to me. Auntie mom does throw my toy for me and I run to get it and bring it back to her. I like my Buddie Raccoon that Auntie mom bought for me, but he doesn't take the place of my Buddie Dog. You can only have one favorite toy and Buddie Dog already has all of my best slobber on him. I am getting better at "staying", but I did go out the front door twice today and it took a lot of convincing me to go back inside again. Auntie mom tells me that Pippin did the same thing when he was my age, but that I definitely have a "wild side" about me. I love barking at other dogs and I love squirrels... if only I can catch one so he will play with me! I am learning more and more words and I love to be praised. I still love chewing on shoes, no matter how many times I get scolded for it, and I will eat almost anything if it isn't dog food. I sleep on my Big Fluffy Pillow on Grandma mom's bed, with my Buddie Dog close by. I am using my Petmate steps more and more each day..., and did I mention that I love being praised?!

Buddie Raccoon

Today was a good day. I am using my Petmate Steps more and more, although when I am really in a hurry, I will still jump off the bed. The stairs are easy going up, but kind of difficult going down. Auntie mom takes me over to Pippin's house around 10 a.m. and we pick up Pippin and his mom and go on a car ride. We go to the park to bark at the squirrels and down the country road where the fake deer lives. Auntie mom takes videos of me and Pippin barking at the deer and told me she would put it up on my page soon. I eat almost all of my lunch. Auntie mom found one tray of Cesar T-bone steak at Wal-Mart on Saturday and I love that flavor. It was another warm day today and I played outside a lot. Then when the mailman came, I get another surprise. A Buddie Raccoon. It is just like my Buddie Dog, but it is a raccoon. I love dragging it around and squeaking all of the squeakers. Auntie mom and I go over to Pippin's house around 4 p.m. to pick him up and then we go on another car ride. I get to see and bark at a Pomeranian, a German Shepherd, a white poodle dog, a cocker spaniel and a couple of black Labs. Pippin and I always have the most fun on our 4 p.m. car ride because everyone seems to be out at this time. Grandma mom feeds us dinner and then we go up with Auntie mom to feed the stray cats. As we are driving back in the driveway, we see the big possum eating out of the cat food dish. I am pretty tired by this time, so I will sack out on Auntie mom's bed until it is time for Granma mom's bed. I won't have to go up the steps this time.. Auntie mom always carries me!

My Petmate Steps

Grandma mom shampooed the carpets today so my steps didn't make it down on the floor until this evening. So far I have not used them yet, but tonight I thought I would give them a try. Auntie mom praised me so much that I am beginning to think these steps might not be so bad after all. Pippin can use them too, because he has some at home so he is already use to them. I went up and down the steps twice already and it does save time and saves me from jumping up and down on my own. Maybe Grandma mom will get her money worth after all!
Today was another warm, but windy day. Grandma mom made roast beef and Pippin and I each got a bowl of the cut up meat. We went to Santa Fe Park in Chanute and Pippin's mom walked me around for awhile. Grandma mom gave me a bath this afternoon and now I am almost ready for bed. Isn't it wonderful to be so loved?!

Why I Hate Saturdays..

I hate Saturdays because I always have to stay in my crate while my family goes shopping. Pippin has to stay at his house too, but he gets to roam around the entire house, whereas I am confined to my pen. Grandma mom says I have to be confined because I get into too many things. I do tend to go through the trash, eat the cat food, drag and chew on any shoe I find and chase Auntie mom's cat. Auntie mom already has my crate all ready for me, but when she tells me it is time to go in my "pen", I run. I know everyone is leaving me behind, so I head for the front door. I want to go too! This is where Auntie mom corners and catches me and inside the crate I go. Of course being locked up is also the only time I will really eat anything. I guess I get bored, so why not? I eat all of the beef Cesar Auntie mom left for me and wait for my family to return. It is Auntie mom that finally comes in to let me out and I am so happy that dogs all over the neighborhood hear me! I totally missed the UPS man, but I help Grandma mom open the big box. Auntie mom ordered me doggie steps that will go up to Grandma mom's high bed, but I am more interested in playing in the box they came in. Grandma mom sets the steps up for me, but as of now I am still jumping on and off the bed and totally ignoring the steps. Pippin and his mom come over and we all go to Iola. We get drinks at Sonic, feed Grandma mom's brother's cats, and get ice cream at Dairy Queen. Auntie mom feeds the stray cats in town and then Pippin and I bark from my back yard when our friend, Bear and his dad walks by. It was a warm day today and I had fun, despite having to be in my crate this morning. I hate Saturdays because of that, but I love Saturday afternoons because my family always makes it up to me!

We're Baaack!!

This morning Pippin and I greet Pippin's mom when she comes home from work and then I am left to play until 9 a.m. Auntie mom goes out to the garage without me, but she stops up by the front door and Grandma mom takes me out to the car. They are beginning not to trust me to go out to the car on my own anymore. We go over to pick up Pippin and his mom and then we head towards Chanute. I am actually napping in the car seat when I feel that we have stopped. I jump up on the back of Auntie mom's driver's seat and immediately say, "UGGG!" Not exactly like that, but I do whine. We are back at the vet's office. To my surprise, I stay in the car with Pippin and and his mom and Auntie mom goes in with the empty carrier to pick up the kitty kat we took yesterday to be spayed. Auntie mom has named her Tiger Lily. Tiger because she is striped and Lily because she is just pretty. Pippin and I share a chicken strip sandwich at Sonic and then we go down a few alleys so we can bark at the dogs we see. Pippin's mom tells Auntie mom that I should get use to wearing a collar, so Pippin's mom puts the collar on me and I have a fit. Everyone ignores me and no one takes it off until a few hours later when I am still acting quiet and subdued. I go home with Auntie mom and go right to bed. I sleep under Grandma mom's desk until she coaxes me out on the big bed with her and there I fall asleep again. Grandma mom begins to think I am sick when I am still sleeping over an hour later. I didn't get that tired on the ride to and from the vet's office. So the collar comes off and I come alive again. I spend the rest of the afternoon playing outdoors. I go with Auntie mom to go over to pick up Pippin at 3:45 p.m. and we get milk bones at the bank. I get to bark at a couple of dogs including friend, Quincy, who is almost swallowed by the many leaves in his yard, (he is a dachshund) a few squirrels, and some chickens in the park. I get in trouble later, when it is dark and we go back out to feed the stray cats. As soon as the front door is opened, I take off after Miley, one of the outdoor cats. I think my family become more afraid at this time because it is dark and they are afraid that I will be lost. A good time to start wearing a collar and an ID (I admit). But Auntie mom starts the car and honks the horn and I come running back to jump in the car. Auntie mom tells me that I won't be able to go with her anymore if I continue to run around in the front yard. Sheesh!!

To the Vet and Up Auntie Mom's Head

This morning Auntie mom, Pippin and his mom took me back to the vet. Of course I got in trouble first by chasing the cat across the road again and up a tree. I don't seem to hear Auntie mom hollering at me when I am running after a cat. We go over to pick up Pippin and his mom and then we are on our way. Auntie mom takes one of the kitty kat's to be spayed and at first I don't know where the "meowing" is coming from. I keep barking and jumping around the back seat until Pippin's mom realizes I am barking at the meowing. I quickly "find" the source of the noise and then after that I settle down. Pippin's harness and mine is in the back window, so when we stop in the parking lot of the vet's office, Auntie mom "tries" to get out to get the harnesses before letting us out. Pippin is blocking the space between the front seat, so I end up jumping over the entire driver's seat. I get scolded for this, but I also think they are impressed! I go in with Auntie mom holding on to my leash and to the cat carrier. This particular kitty has never been to the vet's office before, so paper work has to be made out... and I want to be held! I am so scared, but Pippin's mom is busy taking him in and out of the vet's office (Pippin can't always hold his bladder when he is excited) and Auntie mom is filling out paper work. As soon as Auntie mom is finished, I jump in her arms and try crawling up on to her head. Auntie mom is a cool sport and tries holding me any way that I feel comfortable, but I just keep trying to get higher and higher. You should see the long scratches on Auntie's mom chest! The kitty kat is called back first, so Pippin's mom holds on to my leash while Auntie mom takes the cat in the back. As soon as she comes back, I am right back in her lap and on top of her head. Soon I am called back in and an assistant holds me while the doctor cuts the stitches out of my leg. When it comes to taking the stitches out of my groin, I have a fit and try to jump back in Auntie mom's arms. Auntie mom leaves the room and I am held down and the stitches come out. As soon as I am done, Auntie mom comes back in and I jump back in her arms. I don't like going to the vet. Pippin and I do get a chicken strip sandwich at Sonic and some Pup Peroni bacon at Wal-Mart. We also get to bark at some dogs on the way home. I get a lot of hugs and kisses from Grandma mom when we get home and I get to play and nap in the sun until we go get Pippin at 4:30 p.m. Auntie mom takes us for a car ride and we bark like crazy when we see Lady Bug in the park. Auntie mom has already fed the cats, but Lady Bug sees them and runs three cats out of the park and one up a tree. Pippin and I bark until we can't bark anymore. When we get back to Auntie mom's house, it isn't long before the kids go home and we go for another ride with Grandma mom. We get Beggin Strips in the back seat and I end up napping because by this time it is too dark to see anything. Thank goodness I don't have to go back to the vet until next year... I just hope I don't get sick between now and then!

I Chased a Possum Last Night

Grandma mom let me outside during the night and as soon as my feet touched the sidewalk, I started "woofing". I take off towards the swing set and Grandma notices "something" running towards the fence. Everything is a Possum to me though and I chased it out of the yard with Grandma mom hollering the whole time! I had a good time today, although Auntie mom took the car to Chanute to check the muffler and I didn't get to go. I was wondering why she gave me a bone to chew on. That was the plan... give Petey a bone and then sneak out the front door. This rarely happens. I was very happy to see Auntie mom when she came home. Auntie mom says I have separation issues. I didn't get to go for a car ride until around 2 p.m. when Auntie mom had to go to the bank. I sure had a great time though. I got a milk bone at the bank and then we saw some squirrels at the park and some chickens across the road. We saw Bear's dad, but he didn't have Bear with him. I barked anyway. I didn't think the ride was long enough so when Auntie mom opens my car door to pick me up, I start whining and then start biting her hands and fingers. This is my way of telling her that I don't want to go. Or in this case, get out. Auntie mom leaves me in the car for a few minutes and then I am ready to get out when she comes back for me. At 3:30 p.m., I get to go for another car ride because we go over and get Pippin. Once again, Auntie mom has to go to the bank and we wait a long time in line. We don't even get milk bones this time around. Auntie mom takes us through the park again and we get to see our friend, Lady Bug. You wouldn't believe how much and how loud we bark when we see Lady Bug. Then on the way home, we see Bear's dad again and this time Bear is with him. We bark like crazy! When the kids go home, we all pile back in the car and go to Iola. Grandma mom has already fed us our dinner, but when we get to Iola, we get a chicken strip sandwich at Sonic. Pippin trades his chicken for Grandma's hamburger. Auntie mom feeds the stray cats and I fall asleep in the front seat. I still bite at Auntie mom's hands when it is time to get out of the car. I just love being in the car! I think I will do that again tomorrow when Auntie mom takes me back to the vet to get my stitches out.

There is a Crab in my Bathroom

This morning I went into the bathroom with Auntie mom because, well, because I always go to the bathroom with her, and there was something lying on the floor. It was big and red and had legs with pinchers on them. I start barking and backing up and rearing forward and barking again. Auntie mom thinks this is funny, but doesn't she care that there is a big red ugly thing on the bathroom floor? It turns out to be a stuffed Ty crab that Grandma mom keeps in the bathroom and it just happened to fall off the shelf. I KNEW I never saw it before. Auntie mom demostrates by pushing a button and you hear this watery sound which she describes as the ocean. Boy, if those things are at the ocean, I don't think I want to see a live one. Auntie mom takes me over to Pippin's house at 10 a.m. and we all go for a car ride. Sometimes I get so excited when I see a dog or a squirrel, that I turn on the car's wind shield wipers! Auntie mom takes us by the fake deer and Pippin and I raise such a ruckus that Auntie mom tells us that she is going to bring her camera next time to take a video of us barking at the fake deer! I have fun with the kids tonight. It is so warm that we all go outside and I get naughty by snatching something of theirs and then running all over the yard with them chasing me. First I grab one of their pencils, and then later it is a smarty candy roll and then later a Dum Dum sucker. No one can catch me when I am on the run! Wednesday I have to go back to the vet to get my stitches out. I want them out, but I don't see why I have to go back "there".
Time for another car ride. Of course with the time change it is already dark, so I doubt I will see much, but I will see how many Beggin Strips I can beg out of Grandma mom!

Halloween Parade

Today is Halloween and it was the first time, in a long time, that I got left in my crate. My family didn't go shopping last night, so they went this morning. Actually when I am locked in my crate is the only time I will eat by myself. And I usually eat EVERYTHING that is given to me. So I eat and wait for my family to return. I am so happy when Grandma mom comes in to get me, and as usual, I was brought home a lot of treats. Auntie mom got beef jerky, Busy Roll hide bones, Beggin Strips and something new to me, Snausages, in beef and cheese. They are not half bad. What is bad? Auntie is still sick and seems to be worse today than usual. She did go to the vet again though, as a couple more of Grandma mom's cats are sneezing, so she bought a big bottle of antibiotics. But after giving out the medicine, Auntie mom goes to lie down and stays in bed until it is time for the Halloween parade at 5 p.m. I am just so happy to be going somewhere! Pippin's mom dresses me and Pippin in our cow costumes on the ride up town and I am just itching to get out...literally. My cow ears and horns keep falling in my face and I keep shaking my head. I see several other dogs at the parade and get to "kiss" a couple of them. There is a huge American Staffordshire dog in a football jersy, a cute daschund with a bandanda around her neck, a cute floppy dog wearing a witch's costume, and a big dog wearing a prison costume. I had fun watching all of the dogs, and everyone commented on how cute Pippin and I are wearing our cow costumes. It was a good time for me and I didn' t even eat any of that chocolate stuff!

A Ride I Didn't Go On

This morning Auntie mom went out the door and I didn't get to go. That doesn't happen very often. I am more than a little shocked, but Grandma mom holds me back and Auntie mom drives out of the garage without me. Of course, later I found out that she took one of the cat's to the vet, and then I didn't feel so bad. Grandma mom's cat, T.J. has a terrible cold. She has been sneezing, not eating and having watery eyes. I get in trouble a lot for chasing T.J. around the house. Now she has to take antibiotics and currently hiding under Grandma mom's bed. Sometimes I go under there when I want to take a nap, but I don't think I will go under there when T.J. is under there. It was a busy day for me, even though we never did see the sun. I chewed up an empty cat sack, hid a pair of socks, stole a Halloween cookie from one of the daycare kids, and chased the outdoor cats. Auntie mom did take me for a car ride though and I had a lot of fun. I barked at a lot of dogs and saw a few squirrels. I got some beef jerky too. I am getting better at looking where Auntie mom is pointing when it comes to seeing things. Sometimes I see them before she does and then she is saying, "What? Where?" and I point things out to her. I think I would be a good hunting dog!

Rain Rain Go Away

Today I got in trouble a lot. I blame it on the Rain. When I get really active, I am allowed to go outside and run off some energy. But today it rained, so I couldn't go outside. Thus, it means more trouble for me. I had two accidents in the house, but to be fair to me, I sure didn't want to get soaked outside. On a brighter note, I don't get in the trash anymore. But, then, the trash cans never seem to be on the floor anymore. I think my family has wised up to me a bit, because they have started picking them up and placing them up high where I can't reach them. Auntie mom is trying to teach me to "fetch" her shoes, but when I get shoes, I want to chew on them, I don't want to give them up! I am getting pretty good about retrieving my Buddie Dog. Auntie mom will ask me where my Buddie dog is, and 8 out of 10 times, I will go find him and bring him back to Auntie mom. I don't like giving him up either though, so Auntie mom and I play tug of war a lot with Buddie dog. It is good that his arms, legs and tail stretch up to 30 inches! Today on our afternoon car ride, I actaully saw a squirrel before anyone else. I was standing up to Auntie mom's arms when I see a squirrel and start barking right in Auntie mom's ear (maybe that will unplug it, you think?!) It isn't often that I see things on my own, so I really took in the praise. It is good to be praised, especially since I always seem to find trouble!

Back to the Vet

This morning Auntie mom takes me and we go over to pick up Pippin and his mom. I nap in the car seat while Pippin sits on his mom's lap and all is fine until Pippin starts breathing harder and whimpering. I get up and look around trying to determine why Pippin is crying. As soon as we drive into the vet's parking lot, I see the reason. And I start barking at the vet's office. I have been here before and I don't like it. Pippin's mom puts on my harness and Auntie mom leads me inside. Right away I see a big black Lab and I don't even stop to bark at her. Auntie mom goes to sit down and I stand up to her legs, begging her to take me. Auntie mom leans down and picks me up and I start trembling. We are called back into the exam room and Auntie mom has a hard time getting me to sit on the exam table. The vet's assistant pries open my mouth and looks inside. A huge accomplishment since I don't make it easy for her. I am rated "looking good", and I hurry and climb back in Auntie mom's arms. Then the assistant says, "Let's look at those other stitches", so Auntie mom puts me back down on the exam table and my stitches on my leg are looked over. I hurry and climb back in Auntie mom's arms and this time she flips me over so my back is on her chest and that assistant spreads open my back legs (I felt so violated!!) and says, "Beautiful". I have to go back to the vet next Wednesday to get all of the stitches out. I will almost definitely give them a hard time. The rest of the day passed normally. It was sunny and semi warm out, so I spent a lot of the afternoon outdoors. Auntie mom took me for a couple of car rides and Pippin and I got to bark at Lady Bug again. It is a good thing I sleep so well at night!

I have a BIG Mouth!

This is what my family tells me when we go for car rides. I bark at almost everything I see and when I bark, it is LOUD! I also tend to have barking fits, where I bark and bark, and jump around the car like a jumping bean. This morning Auntie mom takes me over to pick up Pippin and his mom and we begin our car ride by going down the road to see the goats. Auntie mom raises her window down and I start barking. All of those goats start running! Auntie mom says I could be a goat herder! We go down to the park and there are so many squirrels that Pippin and I are barking non stop. I jump around the car so much that Auntie mom starts warning me about my stitches, especially the stitches in my leg. I do tend to bounce up to the front, use Auntie mom's shoulder to turn around and then hop in the back. Sometimes I hit my head on the back window because I get so excited. We also saw so many dogs today, and I also barked at the fake deer and then barked so much at this country horse that he high tailed it back to his barn cover. I bark so much and so loud that I start crying and whining. I still take that pain pill every morning though, so that helps with the pain. I think I am going to end up with a sore throat like Auntie mom though!

Pippin's House and a Visit from Fed EX!!

Today I got to go to Pippin's house. Auntie mom and Grandma mom went to do some work on Grandma mom's brother's house and I had the time of my life while they were away. I love playing at Pippin's house. I ate all of my food, some of Pippin's food, some of his dry dog food, ate all of the Three Dog Bakery cookies that Auntie mom brought over for me, had a Dingo stick, and even ate some of the cat's food. Maybe getting neutered makes you have an appetite! We watched Pippin's DVD for Dogs and I enjoyed the wolves and the goats the most. Amy, Pippin's kitty kat friend, liked the birds the most. I played with her squeeky mouse while she was busy trying to catch the birds on the television screen. Pippin's mom got a lot of videos of my visit, so maybe we can post a new one on my page soon.
When Auntie mom and Grandma mom got home, we found out that the Fed Ex man paid a visit to my house. Grandma mom ordered me a case of Chef Michael's...beef tenderloin...my favorite. Maybe going to the hospital is worth it if you get this much attention and this many gifts when you come home!! I didn't even mind getting my flea treatment today, even though Pippin's mom keeps telling me it stinks!

No School = Fun!!

Today the kids didn't have school, so I had a great time. I love dragging the Barbie Dolls around by their hair, chewing on different pairs of shoes, and getting loads of attention. Of course where I go, trouble usually follows. Like when Auntie mom takes me for a car ride and when we get home, I chase a cat across the road to the new ball park instead of going straight into the house like I am suppose to. I was good about taking my pain pill though. Pippin doesn't know what he is missing by mixing it with peanut butter. It tastes good just straight up! Pippin and I get to go with the family shopping tonight and our first stop is the vet's office. Pippin needs more allergy and pain pills, so Auntie mom stays in the car with us while Pippin's mom and Grandma mom goes in. Grandma mom asks about my teeth, or loss of, I should say. She asks the doctor if I can eat dry dog food, and the doctor says "moist" dog food would be okay. Right away I smell Pippin's pain pills and try and get them out of his mom's hands. Later on when they fall on the floor, I get down and retrieve them. Of course none of the pills fall out of the bottle, but I still get the bottle in my mouth. Auntie mom thinks I am retrieving them and thanks me when she takes the bottle from my mouth, but I was actually trying to keep them for myself. Those pain pills make you feel good!! I have a good day today, so I should sleep good tonight. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

I have been hearing this a lot. But, then, I went through a lot. I have stitches on almost every part of my body. Of course, you wouldn't know if by looking at me. It hasn't slowed me down at all and I am still enjoying life. Auntie mom cut one of pain pills in two this morning (Doctor prescribed a 1/2 pill each morning) and held it in her open palm. I quickly snatched it up and ate it. I guess I don't need to ruin the taste of peanut butter after all. Of course Auntie mom always teases me by saying I will eat anything, except dog food. I am finding it more difficult to chew without those four canine teeth, but otherwise, nothing else seems different. The kids had to tip toe around me today, but I still got my usual two car rides. We went over to Pippin's house around 10 a.m. and even though it was drizzling rain, the squirrels were out everywhere! I had so much fun barking at the squirrels and they didn't slow me down either. Later at 4 p.m., we got another car ride. Auntie mom gave me and Pippin some beef jerky and then we barked at the squirrels and all of the dogs that we came across. We went out on the country road and I barked at the cows. Pippin barked at the fake deer, but when Auntie mom showed me, I gave this little "growl", like I was saying, "Are you sure this stone deer is worth barking at?" I always have fun on my car rides, stitches or no stitches!

It is ALL over (Literally!)

This morning I was taken for a car ride and left. That is how I saw it anyway. I could tell Auntie mom didn't want to leave me there though. I got to the vet's office and I was weighed. A whopping 18.9 pounds at only 6 months and Pippin weighs 20 pounds at 3 years! Then I was taken in the back. Pippin told me to avoid "the back", but I didn't have a choice. I got a chewable tablet which I chewed and swallowed without complaint and then two injections. I was put in a big pen with my monkey blanket and my Buddie dog and then Auntie mom lingered for awhile and then left. Dogster friends, you were right. Being away from home was the worst, yet I didn't realize what was to come. I fell asleep snuggled up to my Buddie dog, wondering what I did wrong to be left behind. When I woke up, I was still in this strange place and something didn't feel right. I was in some pain, but the pain didn't generate all to my genitals. I scoot to the back of the pen and stayed there. I didn't eat or drink all day long and even Buddie couldn't take away my home sickness. Auntie mom came at 4 p.m. and when she walked in, I still stayed in the corner. I am mad at Auntie mom and she isn't going to get off easy. The doctor begins explaining all what was done to me. I got neutered and the sutures will dissolve in 5-6 weeks unless they are taken out at 2 weeks. Auntie mom couldn't have kept her mouth shut, because she told the doctor about this small black spot I have on my right leg and when the doctor looked at it, she decided to remove it. She tells Auntie mom that it looked like a blood blister, so she took it off and now I have three sutures in my leg, that needs to come out in two weeks. I got four of my teeth pulled and each hole was closed with one stitch. I need to return in one week for the doctor to look at my teeth to make sure everything is okay and no food gets into the holes. I got my rabies shot and had my toe nails trimmed. I got worked over good and proper and I consider none of it good. I now have to take a half of a pain pill every morning for pain. Now I will know what peanut butter tastes like with a pill hidden inside, but I don't consider that a good thing either. Auntie mom picks me up and takes me out to the car and that is when I go wild. I get up and go around in circles and lick Auntie mom's face like crazy. I decide to forgive her for leaving me after all. I mean, she did come back and that has to count for something. We go straight home and Grandma mom meets me at the door. I am so happy to see her and she is very happy to see me. I am starving, so Grandma mom feeds me an entire container of Chef Michael's food. Grandma mom opens Pippin's food and I eat a few bites of Pippin's too. Auntie mom fills up my bowl with Puppy Chow and in an hour's time, I eat all of that too. Auntie mom refills it and I eat some of that too. I still go on our evening car ride and get a surprise at the park. It is dark, but we see a very small kitten where Auntie mom feeds the cats. The kitten runs as we drive up, but when Auntie mom opens the door to pour out the cat food, the kitten comes running back and tries to get in the car. Auntie mom picks him up and he snuggles up in her shoulder. I keep trying to get to the kitten, but I am told no. I get in a few sniffs anyway and we all go home. Auntie mom beds down the kitten after feeding him and I go find my Buddie dog. He was with me all day and now I won't leave him alone for very long. The doctor said I may sleep more tonight and I have been taking little naps here and there, but always with my best friend, Buddie in my mouth!
Thanks again, Dogster friends, for your love and support.

Should I be excited? Nah... I already know that something is UP, because my family has been very attentive all day. I have never gotten so many hugs and kisses, so I do think Pippin's tale of the family feeling guilty is right on target. I think if Grandma mom had her way, I wouldn't be going to that ole vet's office at all. I got suspicious when Auntie mom was giving my Buddie dog a bath this morning. My Tug and Squeak Buddie Dog is my all time favorite toy. It is a stuffed dog with four long legs and a long tail, and at the end of each leg there is a squeaker. At the end of his tail, there is a squeaker. And in the middle of his tummy... yep, you guessed it. There is a squeaker. Because it is my favorite, it is a bit slobbery. Sometimes I manage to drag it outdoors before Grandma mom tells me to bring it back inside before it gets dirty. I drag my Buddie dog everywhere, but this morning, he was getting a wash cloth bath. Auntie mom washed him all up and even trimmed some of his hair. I guess the same attention has been given to me too, because I got a bath on Sunday. Pippin's mom is suppose to clean my ears tomorrow morning, and I guess I am suppose to get my rabies shot and my nails trimmed tomorrow too. I am glad that Buddie is going with me, but I don't think anyone will blame me for not being excited.
Thank you to all of my friends who commented in my diary. Thank you for all of the support... Will one of you be willing to change places with me for a day???

Neutered?

I don't exactly know what the word means, but Auntie mom made an appointment for me to get neutered. It is for the day after tomorrow, and I just know I am not happy about it. For one, it happens at the vet's office and I am scared to go to the vet's office. Auntie mom tells me I can bring my Buddie dog and my favorite blanket, but who cares about material things when you are scared out of your mind? Pippin tells me it is no big deal, and he also tells me that the humans feel so guilty for leaving that they more than make up for it when they come back again. I think I am going to be scared though. Any advice out there, besides jumping out of the car window?!

Busy Times

I have been keeping myself busy and to the delight of Grandma mom, I sleep very well at night. We had a busy weekend, but a lot of it was fun too. On Friday night, I got to go with the family when they went to do their shopping, so once again, I escaped the torture of being locked inside my crate. Auntie mom says I have separation issues, because one member of my family can be gone for two minutes and when they come back into my sight, I act like they have been gone for years! Pippin and I get a chicken strip sandwich on Friday evening and I get to see a skunk walking on the sidewalk in front of the Neosho Community College! On Saturday, we get a car ride to Pittsburg to buy Pippin some more Chef Michael's can dog food. I get a few cans too, but I am becoming so picky that I don't eat much of anything. Auntie mom just makes sure I have plenty of Puppy Chow in a bowl and I snack on that all day long. After we get the Chef Michael's food, Auntie mom takes us to Lincoln Park and I get out with my new harness and leash. Pippin and I walk around the park for over 30 minutes and I have the time of my life. There is a lot of sticks/limbs down in the park and I kept running around trying to find the best one. Of course the best sticks are always the ones that are bigger than me! We ate at Sonic again, but this time Pippin and I got Chef Michael's instead. Grandma mom feeds us on a fork and we do very well for having no hands. On Saturday afternoon, we went to Iola and we got ice cream at Dairy Queen and got to bark at dozens of squirrels at Riverside Park. That evening, Pippin's mom went to visit her friend, and Pippin got in trouble for getting into the litter box. Which was a scary time on Sunday, when Pippin's tummy looked swollen and he vomited up his Chef Michael's food. We all thought Pippin had a obstructed blockage and we rushed him to the vet's office on Sunday evening. The doctor said there was no blockage, but Pippin's tracheal passage looked infected. Pippin has been coughing/gagging a lot. Grandma mom and I stayed out in the car while Auntie mom, Pippin and his mom went into the vet's clinic. I could see them through the glass doors and I barked the entire time they were inside. Luckily, Pippin only got a shot and then got some pills for his coughing and some pills for infection. Pippin seems to be doing better now, but he is getting the royal treatment for sure! I will be going to the vet's soon to be neutered and I know I am going to be scared. Especially since I have that thing my family calls "separation issues". Auntie mom says I can take my favorite toy with me, but I like to be free and I hate being confined to a cage, even if it is just for the day. It might be okay if I get the royal treatment too.

New Harness and Leash

Today I went with Auntie mom, Pippin and his mom to Wal-Mart. I sit in the car with Pippin and his mom, and Auntie mom goes in to buy me a new harness and leash. Now when we go to the park, I will have a harness and leash to wear and I will get to walk around the park just like Pippin does. Auntie mom also buys us a beef and cheese stick. Pippin gets first choice, so he chooses the cheese stick and I am left with the beef stick. To be honest, I think I would have eaten any one of them. I spend a lot of time outdoors today, because Auntie mom says it is suppose to rain tomorrow. I still love playing with my tug and squeak buddie dog, but Pippin and I are still always getting in trouble for fighting/playing too rough. We broke Grandma mom's wedding picture this afternoon and Grandma mom wasn't happy. I also chewed/shredded another roll of toilet paper. Not good. Grandma mom is always telling the kids to be good because Santa Claus is watching. I wonder if that goes for me too? It is just going to be too hard to be good until Christmas time..

Biblesta!

Today was our town's annual Biblesta Parade. I have never been to it before, but I really liked it. The parade is on a long route, so I was more comfortable watching it because I didn't have to sit in my stroller the entire time. I got to run for as long as my leash would allow. I did sit in my stroller for awhile and really got everyone's attention when I tipped the stroller backwards. Everyone thought the "baby" tipped over backwards!! My favorite part of the parade was the horses. Auntie mom snapped some photos and have up loaded them on my page. Pippin sat between Auntie mom's legs and then I was passed to Pippin's mom for awhile. After the parade, Pippin and I got in our strollers and we were pushed up town to the square. There were hundreds of people and a live band playing gospel music. I see a dog right away and start barking. Grandma mom sits on a picnic table and Auntie mom and Pippin's mom push me and Pippin around and around the square. We did get a lot of attention, but not as much as we did in Chanute. A lot of kids came up to pet me and a lady did take picture of us too. A couple of people asked if we were in actual doggie strollers and a few asked where we got them. We heard a lot of "aww's" and "Mommy look at the doggies". I think a lot of people are going to remember the two pugs in the strollers! Auntie mom got nachos and I got to eat some of the cheese and later we get cotton candy and I swipe a big mouth full right out of Auntie mom's hand. She said I looked like a pug with a moustache! Pippin and I got to see Pugsley and Quincy, but Auntie mom couldn't get a good picture of us all. I had fun sitting in my stroller and just watching everyone, on the look out for a four legged dog. When I would see one, I would immediately start barking. A cute little dog came up to my stroller and we sniffed noses for a few seconds. After the 5 p.m. free bean feed, we all headed to Grandma mom's brother's house to feed the cats there and then we stop at Dairy Queen on the way home. Auntie mom took us through River side Park and Pippin and I got to bark at the many squirrels there. Pippin and I were so tired that we immediately fell asleep when we got home. We had a great Biblesta Day! www.biblesta.com

Squirrels!!

I am going to love this time of year!! The squirrels are out every where and I love going on car rides and barking at them at each and every window. Of course there was that one time when I thought I saw a squirrel and it turned out to be a huge leaf blowing in the wind. That is one of the disadvantages... the wind is always blowing now, so you don't know if it is squirrel or leaf! I still have the time of my life though and each leaf that falls in my back yard, I run over to sniff and investigate, because you just never know what it is going to turn out to be. I am having fun and living life. And today is Biblesta and we are going up to see the parade. Auntie mom will have me in my stroller most of the time, but I am hoping to meet Pugsley and Quincy up close and personal today. I love going down their alley because Quincy is a barker like me. I will tell you all about it!!

The Beef Jerky is Hiding in the Glove Compartment

September 29th 2009 4:14 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 2 people already have ]

Today I found out where Auntie mom has been hiding the beef jerky. I usually find the car doggie snacks in the back seat floor of the car, but I guess ever since I ripped open the beef jerky sack and ate almost all of it, Auntie mom wised up. Actually it was Pippin that found the beef jerky. He started scratching at the glove compartment door and then I went over to investigate I could smell the beef jerky too. Now Auntie mom only lets us have beef jerky when she wants us to have it. Not fair!
I really upset Grandma mom today. Auntie mom took two of the daycare kids home and Pippin got to go along and I didn't. So when one of the kids opened the front door, I ran out. Grandma mom, all of the kids, and a couple of the daycare mom's were trying to get me back inside, but to me it seemed like a game. I kept running away from them, going out to the garage, running back towards them and running back in the garage again. Then a boy went by my house jogging and I took off after him. Grandma mom kept hollering for me to come back and that boy just kept on jogging. I was almost past Pippin's house (he lives about 100 steps from my front door to his front door, but across the road) when Grandma mom started clapping her hands. Now that usually works. I hear Grandma mom clapping her hands and I tear back towards her. BUT I don't let anyone catch me. I run back out into the garage, and out by the mail box until someone gets the bright idea to open the front door and then I run back inside all by myself. Of course the first thing I do is go drink... A LOT. I ran and ran and totally wore myself out. But then, Grandma mom locks me in her room and I don't get to greet any more mothers when they come to pick up their kids. I had fun, but fun usually comes with a price.

Autumn

This is my first Autumn and I must say, I am amazed. Those leaves fall faster than rain does and every time I see one fall and go over to investigate, another leaf falls near by. I can't keep up with them all!! It is also definitely cooler and I am not sure I like the grass wet all of the time. I sure have fun though, so I don't think it matters what season it is. I am also learning more and more each day and although I get scolded a lot, there is a lot of times when someone always says, "Good job, Petey!" I love my car rides and Auntie mom can rarely go out the door without me wanting to run out with her. I know she is going somewhere and I want to go. Pippin's mom has new hours at work, so Pippin gets to spend the night with us every night. Pippin sleeps with Auntie mom and I sleep with Grandma mom. I think we are pretty lucky!!

Artist Alley

I got so excited yesterday morning when I saw Auntie mom putting my stroller in the car. I stood up at the front screen door and actually whined, because I wanted to get in the car so bad. Auntie mom let me out and I get in the car and we go over to pick up Pippin and his stroller. Pippin's mom drove her own car because we are going shopping after the Artist Alley parade and the strollers take up the entire trunk of Auntie and Grandma's car. We go to the library first for the big annual book sale. Pippin and I are placed in our strollers and we walk up to the sale. So many people stop us and they pet me and Pippin and tell us how cute we are. Pippin sits more in his stroller, whereas I like to stand. I was sitting by the end though and being just as good as Pippin! We walk up on Main Street and there are booths lining both side of the street for at least two blocks. There are so many people, but I am on the look out for dogs. I sit in my stroller and just keep looking out among the people trying to catch anything on four legs. I always see each and every dog there, and then I start barking!! I see a Jack Russell Terrier, a Pekingese, a dachshund, a poddle, a HUGE Great Dane, and another Pug like me! Every "roll" in our strollers, someone is coming up and "ohh-ing and ahh-ing" over me and Pippin. Little kids come up to pet me and we hear phrases like, "Oh they are so cute", "That has got to be the cutest thing ever", "I like your babies", and we got a lot of "where did you get your strollers?" I think Amazon is going to get a lot of business on pet strollers in the next couple of weeks. When the parade started, I jumped into Pippin's stroller and started chewing on his bone. Pippin is scared of the loud noises, so Auntie mom held him for awhile and then Auntie mom held me while Pippin's mom held him. I almost went to sleep! Later a couple came up and told us that they LOVE Pugs, and me and Pippin got our pictures taken. Long story short... Pippin and I were the stars and got a lot of attention. We did our shopping and then went to Sonic and Pippin and I each got a chicken strip sandwich of our very own. We came home and after the groceries were put away, I got to go over to Pippin's house to play while Auntie mom and Grandma mom went over to do some work at Grandma mom's house. It was the best day ever!!

I got in trouble. I think every one was too scared to do much about it though. At 3:30 p.m., one of the daycare mothers came to pick up her baby and me and Pippin always meet the mothers at the door. Well, Pippin never goes out the front door. He will bark and jump up on the door, but he never follows the mothers out. Today the door did not go all the way shut, so when Pippin jumped up on the door to look out, the door swung open and I ran out. Grandma mom and the daycare mother kept trying to get me back in, but I was having none of that. I like chasing the cats, which can be more dangerous in the front yard because when the cats run, I follow. I am beside the road when I see a car coming. Well it turns out to be Auntie mom returning with the children from school. She sees me, but has to get out of the road so I follow the car ON the road until she drives into the driveway. Auntie mom opens her car door and hollers for me and I come running to be hauled into the front seat. I know I love car rides, so if I see the car, I will go right to it. No one ever said anything about it moving and me not being inside. I do get scolded and now Grandma mom says I have to be outside or away from the front door when the mothers come. Adults take out all the fun of living!!

Today I got to go to Chanute with Grandma mom and Pippin and his mom. We went to Highland Park and Pippin's mom took turns between me and Pippin and gave us each a walk. It was while I was being walked when a man came up and asked if he could take a picture of me. He said his daughter liked dogs and he wanted to get her some pictures of me. We saw him earlier taking pictures of some teenage girls, so we are thinking he was taking their Senior Pictures. This man's camera was HUGE and he looked like a real professional photographer. The man made baby noises at me and I kept looking at him like he was crazy. I guessed he liked my poses though because he kept snapping that camera and taking one picture after another. Then he went over to the car where Grandma mom and Pippin was and took a lot of pictures of Pippin too. He even got our names. Grandma mom said we may end up in the newspaper, but who knows. I just enjoyed the walk!!

Buffalo Homecoming

I had one BUSY day! And the best part is... I didn't have to get locked up in my crate this morning. Today was Buffalo Homecoming and I get so excited when I see Auntie mom loading up my stroller in the trunk of the car. I wait patiently by the front door and when Auntie mom tells me it is time, I go out the front door and hop in the car. We drive over to pick up Pippin and his mom and they load up his stroller too. I snooze on the way to Buffalo, but I wake up before we get there and Pippin's mom puts on my harness. Pippin gets his harness on too and is throwing a fit trying to get out! Our strollers come out of the trunk and Pippin and I are placed inside. I do very well at staying in my stroller. I do jump from my stroller to Pippin's stroller as we are sitting down waiting for the parade to start. Pippin is sitting on his mom's lap at this time. I do see a couple of dogs running loose and I bark at them, but I am quickly told "no". There are SO many people walking by and a lot of them stop to pet me. If we are not stopped, we hear people saying "awww!" and little kids are tugging at their parents' clothes and then pointing at me and Pippin. One lady stops and takes a picture of Pippin in his stroller and then snaps a picture of me in my stroller. This one little dog keeps teasing me by walking around in front of me, free of any harness and leash. I get scolded every time I bark at him, but it sure doesn't seem fair to me. I sit in my stroller during the parade, but I stand up in my stroller when Auntie mom pushes me. Pippin and I get a lot of attention and I have the time of my life. Grandma mom gets a pan of ham and beans and we get home around 12:30 p.m. and eat lunch. Then Pippin and I get to go to Chanute with the family to do their shopping. Pippin's mom stays in the car with me and Pippin and Auntie mom buys me a monkey that jabbers, beef jerky, Beggin Strips and Busy Roll hide bones. We get to rest a bit when we come home and put groceries away, and then we are off again. Pippin's mom goes to visit her friend, so Pippin and I get a ride to Grandma mom's brother's house to feed the cats. I think I am definitely going to sleep well tonight!!

Beef Jerky and the Dining Room Table

Today I got into trouble twice. Well, maybe more than that, but definitely two times seriously. Auntie mom took me and Pippin for a car ride and she cut up some beef jerky for both of us. I ate in the front seat and Pippin ate in the back seat so we would not fight over each other's pieces. Auntie mom told me "no more" and she put the beef jerky sack in the back seat floor. The rest of the ride found me on the floor in the back seat playing with the beef jerky sack. I guess Auntie mom never realized that I may be able to get it opened. I got it opened all right! While Auntie mom is driving, I eat almost the entire bag of beef jerky. Boy was Auntie mom mad when we got back home and she discovered what I did. I can't help it. I LOVE beef jerky.
Then one of the daycare kids told on me.... they went out and got Auntie mom from the play room and brought her back into the Dining Room where I was walking around on the Dining Room table! Auntie mom was shocked again and immediately picked me up, told me "no", and gave me a swat on the back side. Auntie mom asked the daycare child how I got up there. "The chair", she said. She was right, but she didn't have to tell on me! My friends tell me to be more sneaky and don't get caught when I do something bad. How is that possible?? All of the daycare kids have BIG mouths and always tattling on me. They don't tattle on each other anymore. Oh no, it is always, "Petey is doing this", and "Petey is doing that". How can a guy get away with anything around here?!

BRAT!!

Grandma Mom called me a Brat today. I guess I was pretty active and when I am active, I am not always good. I swiped the toilet paper in the bathroom again, I steal the kids' shoes (and I will chew on them if no one catches me!), I chase the cats out in the back yard, and I have learned to jump up on the picnic table. Those cats thought they would outsmart me by getting up on the picnic table to get away from me. Surprise little kitty cats!! I know how to get up on the table now. Of course if Grandma mom or Auntie mom sees me, they tell me to get right back down! I don't think I napped for more than 15 minutes today, so I guess I did raise a little ruckus and probably deserved the name "Brat". I will eat bugs, crayons, sticks, cat food.... but I won't eat my dog food anymore. I don't think my family will be buying me any more Chef Michaels' food for awhile. They tell me it is too expensive to let the cats have it. I can't help it. I get tired of one thing too quickly. I like "people food" better. I think a better word for me is "Lil' Stinker!"

My Hackles Rise!

I don't know if "hackles" is the right word, but that is what Pippin's mom calls it. Whenever I bark, the hairs rise on my neck all the way down to the middle of my back. Pippin's mom is always saying, "Petey has his hackles up again" If anyone has a better word, by all means, let us know. Hackles just doesn't sound right.
I had a great weekend with the family, despite having to stay in my crate for most of the day on Saturday. We went to Pittsburg on Sunday and I got to eat Beggin Strips and Beef Jerky on the ride up, and then we stopped at Lincoln Park and I got to walk around the park for a long time. I still do not like the leash on my back, so Auntie mom does her best in trying to keep it up high so it doesn't touch me. I got to find all of the best sticks in the park and I got to bark at a cute little dachshund. A couple kept fawning over Pippin, saying he looks just like their Pug, Kimmy, but they called me "skittish" and I kept going between Auntie mom's legs and wouldn't let them touch me until Auntie mom picked me up and then I didn't have a choice. We went out to visit Auntie Rebecca and I got to see and bark at all of her dogs. Uncle Tim was mowing, so Pippin and I couldn't get out of the car. Then I got in trouble because I kept scratching up Pippin's mom's legs and accidently made her lip bleed. I go crazy whenever I see another dog and all thought flies out of my head, so really it isn't my fault. I just have too much energy and I don't know where to put it all. I think all was forgiven later and Pippin's mom tried teaching me how to give five on the way home. I am not as bright at Pippin, but I will get there eventually!

A Saturday in my Crate

I had to stay in my crate almost all day on Saturday. I did not like it one bit and to show my frustration, I chew, scratch and knock over anything Auntie mom may put inside the crate with me. I do eat all of my Chef Michael's food, but knock over the dry puppy chow and the water. I scratch and claw at my puppy bed until fur comes flying out. Auntie mom puts my litter box in with me with a training pad inside. I make sure I wet all over it, but then knock it upside down when I am finished. I bark and howl and scratch and no one comes. I endure the silence on Saturday morning, because I know my family goes to do their shopping, but when Auntie mom puts me back inside that ole' stupid crate on Saturday afternoon, well.., that is just too much. Auntie mom and Grandma mom has to go do some work at Grandma mom's brother's house and Pippin's mom has to work, so there is no one left to watch me. Pippin gets the "run and fun" of his house, but no one trusts me enough to leave me alone in the house. I guess I do get in the trash. And I do love to chew up toilet paper. I am also known to empty my bladder on a human's bed. NO, I can't be trusted. Pippin and his mom does come over to "rescue" me around 3:30 p.m. and I am so happy. You probably can hear me clear to your house, because I whine, cry and squeal so much. My family does make it up to me when they get home, because we all go to Iola and I get to share a meal at A&W. The bacon there is to die for!! I get to stay up late too, although I never sleep in my crate. Don't tell my family that though!
We are going to Pittsburg this afternoon to get more Chef Michael's food and a visit to Cousin Sadie, Missy, Bo and Kinzy is also on the agenda!!

Why did the chicken cross the road??

To get to the park! Auntie mom took me for a car ride yesterday morning and I got to see chickens in the park! Well I think they were actually roosters, but aren't roosters chickens too? They live across from the park, but sometimes they wander over to the park. Maybe the park has better bugs. Auntie mom took me down some alleys and I got to bark at a lot of dogs, including Quincy. He always comes running out at top speed and being a dachshund, he has that same loud hollow bark that I do. I almost jump out of Auntie mom's window when I see Quincy barreling towards the fence to bark at us. I haven't been out of the house since. Or not in the car anyway. It started raining yesterday morning and it hasn't stopped yet. Grandma mom still convinces me that I need to go outside to potty, but that is about as far as I get to go. I think I know what bored is now. Does anyone want to come over to play with me?!

In Trouble

I have been getting into trouble a lot lately. Pippin's mom says I am just a puppy, but I think that excuse isn't going to hold water for very much longer. On Friday, I went into the bathroom and shredded the last roll of toilet paper in the house. Auntie mom had to go uptown to the local grocery store to buy more. On Saturday, I got into Auntie mom's trash in the bedroom and strewn trash from one end of the room to the other. This evening my Puppy Chow sack fell on the floor and I tore the sack to shreds and got half a sack of Puppy Chow all over Auntie mom's bedroom floor. Personally I don't think I am bad. I just think no one watches me as closely as I should be watched! Don't puppies need guidance just like children do? I did have a fun weekend though. I got to go over to Pippin's house on Saturday afternoon and play with all of his birthday toys. We went to Iola on Saturday and I got to meet another Pug named Corky. I also got Dairy Queen ice cream! Today we had left over barbecue food and went to Chanute for a car ride. I got to bark at a lot of dogs too. I think my family is trying to persuade me to go to bed now. I guess you can't get into too much trouble if you are asleep!

I'm Not the Baby Anymore

I am not the only baby in the house anymore. Auntie mom got a new baby in the daycare and he isn't quite four months old yet. I was born on April 25th and he was born on May 7th. It is close! I get to do so much more than this baby does though, so I am happy about that. It has been a long week since Pippin's birthday party and I am enjoying the days. They are cooler now, so I spend a lot of time outdoors. Auntie mom says there is a three day weekend coming up, so I am looking forward to that. I know I am going to spend Saturday afternoon at Pippin's house. IF it doesn't rain. Auntie mom and Grandma mom is going to Grandma mom's brothers house to mow and do some yard work, so that means play time with Pippin. I can do without the water bottle, but most of the time it IS fun!!

Pippin's Birthday Party

Yesterday, August 30th, was Pippin's 3rd birthday. His mom had a big party for him and I was one of the invited guests. Auntie mom took me over to Pippin's house in my new stroller, but she zipped up the front and I did not like that. I love going over to Pippin's house because he has so many fun toys to play with. I wasn't playing very long when another invited guest came in the door. It is our doggie cousin, Kinzy. I met Kinzy a couple of weeks ago at her house, but I was smaller then and very frightened of her. Today I jumped right in and before you know it, we are chasing each other around the house. We even played tug of war with Pippin's long loofa dog. Auntie Rebecca takes me and Kinzy out in Pippin's back yard field and we run around out there for awhile too. Kinzy has unlimited energy. Me? I had to curl up on Auntie mom's lap after lunch and take a quick nap. I tried to help Pippin open his birthday gifts (I could smell those yummy snacks) but Pippin wouldn't let me help. Pippin got a lot of snacks like bags of Beggin Strips, some Busy Roll hide bones, some Denta Stix, some Pup Corn, some raw hide bones, some Pup Peroni, a huge back of beef jerky (I am so jealous!) and even some biscuits from Hawaii! Pippin had his own doggie cake too and we all got a piece of that. Later Pippin even shared a can of his Chef Michael's wet food that he got for his birthday. I sure got tired though and went right to sleep when we got home. Birthdays are great, but I found out that they are exhausting too!!

Pippin is teaching me well!!

I learn a lot from Pippin and I suppose he learns a few things from me. When we go on our car rides, I hop in the back window and I bark when Pippin barks. Sometimes I don't even know what I am barking at! Sometimes I see things before Pippin does and then he imitates me when I start barking. Yesterday Auntie mom took us through the park and I immediately see some kids playing on the slippery slide. I get so excited that I jump in Auntie mom's lap and I try and get out the window. Auntie mom has to stop and pluck me from on top of her chest. Now I am sad to say there are my nail scratches all over Auntie mom's chest. Sorry about that Auntie mom. I still have my deep hollow bark and it sounds so different than Pippin's bark. Maybe Auntie mom can video tape my bark so you can all hear it.
We are now gearing up for Pippin's birthday party. I can't wait until my birthday now... I am the one that loves paper! I think I will try and help Pippin unwrap his gifts, if he doesn't mind. I can't wait!!

No More (H)umping On The Bed

Auntie mom says it actually goes "No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed. I have my micro fiber pillow on Grandma mom's bed and I sleep there every night. I also have several of my stuffed toys on my pillow in case I need something to chew on during the night. Well, yesterday, Auntie mom caught me humping my stuffed lamb. Grandma mom says it is nature, but Auntie mom says I am too young and to "stop it". I will be six months old at the end of October and Auntie mom says that is when I am suppose to go in and get "neutered". I am not sure what that is, but any visit to the vet's office is not good. Auntie mom says I am still growing, but I don't know if that is a good thing or not. You seem to get a lot of attention when you are small. I guess I just have to keep growing and hope for the best!

OMD!!!

Pippin and I ran out of Purina Chef Michael's food already... so today we went back to Pittsburg and Auntie mom, Pippin's mom, and Grandma mom bought me and Pippin over $85 worth of Chef Michael's dog food!! I guess this will cut out a trip back to Pittsburg for awhile and keep our tummies full at the same time. And the best part is that we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken too. Pippin and I get a piece of this chicken too! I do wish someone would carry the Smoked Turkey Chef Michael's dog food. I haven't tried that flavor yet and it sure sounds good. But every store we went to did not carry that particular flavor. Has anyone out there tried it? If so, let me know how it is.
I was very good on our trip to Pittsburg. Auntie mom bought me a Precious Pal Hartz stuffed dog at Wal-Mart this morning, so I took this toy along on our road trip to keep me busy. I slept a lot of the time too. Sometimes I like crawling up in the back window so the drivers behind me think I am a stuffed dog. We had some people come over to the car and "ooh and aah" over me and Pippin when Auntie mom and Pippin's mom was in the party supply store. They liked my deep hollow bark. I also now know how to give kisses. If you pucker up and make "kiss-ie" noises, I come over and lick you right on the face! On the way home, I start getting anxious, so Auntie mom pulls over in a grassy area and me and Pippin get our harnesses on and Auntie mom and Pippin's mom take us out and we feel SO much better when we get back in the car that we sleep all the way home. I think we are very loved by our family!

I Saw A Squirrel

This afternoon Auntie mom took me and Pippin for a car ride and I saw a squirrel. Auntie mom stops in the park and I notice Pippin barking excessively, so I get up to see why. Auntie mom is rolling down the window and she reaches over to pick me up. The next thing I know, Auntie mom is pointing at something. I finally locate a small rodent that Auntie mom keeps calling a "squirrel". This squirrel is just sitting there chewing on something. Pippin is still barking from the back seat, so I start barking too! I bark my deep hollow bark and then I try climbing out the car window. Auntie mom says that Pippin is teaching me well. When Auntie mom takes us down an alley, I see a dog and right away, I start barking! I see the dog even before Pippin does. I guess I am learning well too!!

Moving Paper

I had a fright last night when I encountered something on Auntie mom's bed and it was moving. Of course I never registered that the fan may be moving it, but reacted responsively. As soon as I saw something moving over by the edge of the bed, by the wall, I jerk myself back and begin barking. I start to move in, and jerk back when it moves again. Auntie mom doesn't know what to think, but as soon as she understands the situation she...begins laughing! What is so funny? I think Auntie mom plays with me after this... she starts to slowly move her hand towards the moving object when suddenly she jerks back herself. This also makes me jerk back and then I begin barking again. Then she starts her girlish antics and says, "Petey, I'm scared" in her whiny voice. I have to protect Auntie mom, so I run over and dive under her arm and begin barking at that moving object again. This continues for a couple of more times and then Auntie mom reaches closer to the moving object. I want to get closer too, so I jump up on Auntie mom's back and up on her head so I can get a closer view. It is about this time when Auntie mom grabs the moving object... I jump off her head and move in to investigate. Auntie mom has the object rolled into a ball and I grab it out of her hand and give it a good shake just to make sure it is dead. Auntie mom keeps laughing and telling me it is just paper, but I still bite it several times and then proceed to chew it to pieces. You can't be too careful when paper begins to move!!

Chef Michael's

I slept with Grandma mom last night, but took a nap on Auntie mom's bed later in the morning. This afteroon I get a dish of roast beef and then despite my puppy barks and screams, Grandma mom gives me a bath and Pippin's mom files my nails. I hate baths and I always get Grandma mom as wet as I get. Then Grandma mom holds me down while Pippin's mom file my nails. You would think someone was killing me the way I was carrying on. This afternoon we drive to Pittsburg to buy Chef Michael's dog food at Dillon's. Grandma mom got me some when we went to Pet Smart last week and I loved it! Auntie mom found out the closest place to buy it is Pittsburg, so we enjoy the nice ride to buy some. Auntie mom buys me ten cans and then buys some of the dry food too. We stop at Auntie's Rebecca's house and I get to meet everyone for the first time. I meet their dogs, Sadie, (A German Shepherd), Missy (she has Mastiff in her), Bo (Bassett Hound) and the new puppy, Kinzy (half Bassett Hound (Bo is her father) and half Corgi). Kinzy is only 11 weeks old, but very high spirited! She kept chasing me and bit my tail twice. She chased Pippin around and around under the Dining Room table and bit Cousin Hunter on the face twice! Puppy teeth hurt... take it from me. It was great meeting new faces in my family, even though I was scared to death of baby Kinzy! On the way home, Grandma mom opens a can of the Chef Michael's food and Pippin and I share it. Then we eat some of the dry food too. Auntie mom stops at Sonic in Ft. Scott and buys me and Pippin a chicken strip sandwich and we eat all of that too. Believe me, I slept all the way home after that. It was a great day... meeting new members of my family and getting my favorite food!!

Jr. Tennis Balls

This morning I had to get in my crate again while my family went to do their shopping. I was very disappointed when I found out later that Pippin got to go along and I didn't. Auntie mom always feels guilty though and buys me something. This store visit I got a package of Jr. Tennis Balls. I guess Auntie mom felt bad about me having to put that BIG tennis ball in my mouth so she got me some that fit my mouth a lot better. I also got some chew bones and treats. I was so happy when Auntie mom came in to rescue me out of my crate and I kept jumping up on her legs. Then I ran in and jumped on Grandma and she picks me up and starts giving me hugs and kisses. Women are great when it comes to guilt. I take a nap on Auntie mom's bed and then we go to Iola and I get a chicken strip sandwich from Sonic and ice cream from Dairy Queen. Guilt is a wonderful thing!!

Tennis Ball

I have discovered, although it is difficult, that I can carry a tennis ball in my mouth. One of the kids brought a tennis ball today and Auntie mom threw it for me tonight and I took out after it. To my credit, it does take awhile for me to fit it in my mouth, but I eventually get it done. Then I carry it back to Auntie mom to throw again. I completely wore myself out chasing and retrieving this green colored tennis ball. Of course I still chase the cats too and they never seem to stop running. Auntie mom let me walk out to the car by myself this afternoon. Pippin usually goes out the front door with her and I immediately stop. Today Auntie mom tells me to "come" and when I walk out the front door, Auntie mom keeps saying "car" and I go right to the car! I love going "bye-bye" and I love car rides. Like Pippin, when I see Auntie mom putting on her shoes, I go crazy. I start jumping up and down and usually I am right on heels to the front door. If Auntie mom secures Pippin in the car first, I will stand up to the front door and wait for her to come back to get me. I don't run and play the "catch me if you can" game. I immediately try and climb up legs for someone to hold me and take me out to the CAR!! Of course it doesn't matter that I usually fall asleep once I get in the car. It only matters that I don't get left behind!

A Car Ride and A Chicken Strip Sandwich

I am doing much better after my shots on Monday and running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. That is how Grandma mom describes me anyway. I was very hyper this morning and then friend, Tristan, came over this afternoon and played with me a lot! Auntie mom took me and Pippin for a car ride to Grandma mom's brother's house to feed the cats and we stopped at Sonic on the way home. The car hop lady asks Auntie mom how old I am and after Auntie tells her, Pippin pipes up so he can get some attention too. Auntie mom tells her that everyone pays attention to me, so Pippin has to be vocal to get attention too. She apologizes to Pippin and Pippin takes it all in. Auntie mom buys us a chicken strip sandwich and I eat all of mine. Auntie mom won't let me go in the back seat and I know she is just trying to keep me away from Pippin's share of chicken. I get bored, so I start chewing on the Sonic sack instead. I did eat a lot of my Lamb puppy food this morning, but wasn't really hungry tonight. I nibbled on kibble instead. I think it was a pretty good day though. A car ride and chicken... who could ask for more?!

My Vet Visit

This morning Auntie mom let me outside and I ran and ran all over the back yard. So when Auntie mom put me in the car later, I went right to sleep. I had no idea of the fate in front of me.. We arrived at the vet's office ten minutes until 9 a.m. and even though Auntie mom put on my collar and leash, I made her carry me. I guess the vet was running late, because we didn't get called back until almost 9:3o a.m. and I made Auntie mom carry me the entire time we were sitting in the waiting area. A woman came in with three cats and one was very vocal. Then a man came in with a dachshund who looked a little familiar. Imagine my surprise when the man said his name was Quincy. This dog is the other half of Pugsley and Quincy. The dogs that we visit almost every day when we drive by their house. The man said he was going to leave Quincy for surgery, but we never found out what surgery he was having. His dad just said Quincy hasn't been feeling very well. No wonder Pippin and I haven't seen Quincy in awhile. Later two women came in with a big American Staffordshire dog who was attacked by another dog, but he still wanted to come over to me to introduce himself. Auntie mom and I are finally called back and when Auntie mom tries putting me down on the table, I try crawling back up in her arms. The nurse takes swabs from my ears and goes to check them. My ear mite check comes back negative! Then comes the shots. The needle starts to go in and I start wiggling. The nurse says it will hurt more if I wiggle, so Auntie mom picks me up and leans down while the nurse gives me the shot standing above me. I cry and cry. Then she says "there is the first shot". FIRST?? How many are there?! I guess Auntie mom wants to know too, because she asks. The nurse says I have to have another Bordetella shot. I cry with this shot too. The nurse puts another tube of Advantage Multi on my back for fleas and worms and then I am done. Auntie mom brought in a coupon for two free months of Advantage Multi if you buy a six pack. The shots costs $27, the Advantage Multi costs $100.22. Wow, whoever thought it cost so much to get rid of those pesky fleas. I am more than happy, however, to leave the vet's office. I don't have to come back until it is time for my neutering at 6 months. I am now 15 weeks old and 9.8 pounds. I am almost as big as Pippin is now! Auntie mom takes me to Sonic and buys me a jr. breakfast burrito all to my own. I don't eat the burrito, but Auntie mom scraps out the egg, sausage and cheese into a small bowl and I eat it all. I wash it down with cold water and then sleep all the way home. I don't eat very well the rest of the day, and I end up sleeping a lot. I hope I feel better tomorrow.

I Am Still Growing

Auntie mom says I am still growing and tells me to slow down. Grandma mom keeps telling me not to sleep, because she says that is the secret to growing. I am getting bigger... I can jump up on Auntie mom's bed with no problems now. It is just a hop and a jump from her foot stool that she keeps by her bed. I did have to stay in my crate yesterday. Of course it was the first time in a long time, so I am not going to complain too much. I held my bladder the entire time my family was out shopping and Auntie mom took me right outside when she got home. I found the package of beef jerky right away in the sacks of groceries, but Auntie mom made me eat my dinner first. We went for a ride to Iola and the car hop lady at Sonic always reaches in to pet me. I lick her hand and she tells me I am cute. Pippin barks at her, but I think he just wants some attention too. Pippin jumps on Auntie mom's lap and he gets petted too. Pippin and I share a doggie bowl of Dairy Queen ice cream and I always eat first and then go right to sleep. Ice cream makes you cold! Today is our last day of vacation. Auntie mom, Grandma mom and Pippin's mom all go back to work tomorrow. It is a good thing that Auntie mom and Grandma mom work from home though!

A New Stroller and an Afternoon at the Fair

Last night I got a new stroller. Auntie mom ordered it for me and when she checked the computer to track the package, she was surprised to read that it was delivered when we were at Petsmart and the delivery man left it in the garage. Auntie mom hurried out to the garage and there was my new stroller! It looks exactly like Pippin's and now I am officially the owner of wheels! We decided to try out my new wheels at the county fair. Pippin's mom and Auntie mom puts both strollers in the trunk of the car and off we go. Now I have never been in a stroller before, but I do a lot better when the mesh isn't zipped up, locking me inside. I hate to be locked up and will cry and scratch at whatever is holding me inside. Auntie mom puts me inside the stroller and gives me a couple of toys and a deli wrap to chew on, and leaves the mesh folded down. I stand up a couple of times and only jump out once. I have my harness and leash on, so I don't go far. I have fun looking at all of the barn yard baby animals and really love the Australian puppies and the baby turkeys. I whine to get out a couple of times, but otherwise I have fun at the fair!

Our trip to Petsmart!

I actually slept almost all of the way to Pet Smart, but believe me, it was a long drive. Auntie mom made sure I had plenty of toys to play with and I always seem to go to sleep with my possum in my mouth. I start to get excited once we pass the state line and I am more than ready to get out once we get to Pet Smart. Auntie mom puts me in the cart at Pet Smart at first, but I keep whining and finally she lets me out and Grandma walks me around for awhile. Everyone keeps coming up to pet me and telling me I am so cute. Little kids pet me and I lick their fingers and they laugh. I don't like my harness and leash and keep wrapping it around everyone's legs. Pippin shows me where the water station is and I get a much needed drink. I pick out the biggest bone there, but Auntie mom tells me that is much too big for me. We look around for some puppy chews and Auntie mom buys some Torro puppy chews and a package of Deli wraps. Pippin and I also get a new frisbee, a Kong throw toy, a package of Cesar softie treats, some Cesar food, a Bungee loofa dog, and ziggies bones. I get tired after awhile and stand up to Auntie mom's legs. She bends down and picks me up and then she carries me until it is time to leave. We stop at KFC on the way home and Auntie mom was right... the "C" does stand for Chicken. I start clawing at the bucket as soon as Grandma gets it back in the car. We eat at Sonic and Grandma mom says I ate a whole piece by myself, but I don't remember that. I get so full, but get antsy on the ride home, so Auntie mom stops behind a small strip mall and Pippin's mom gets out with me in the grass. I feel so much better when we get back to the car and I fall asleep all the way home. I even have to be coaxed to wake up when Grandma mom gets ice cream at Sonic, and then I hurry to lick up a spoon full and then fall back asleep. We stopped at Big Lots too, but I slept the entire time Auntie mom and Pippin's mom was inside the store. They came out with more doggie toys for me and Pippin! We finally get home at 4 p.m. and I play and nap and then go for a car ride to feed the stray cats. Pippin's mom plays with me in the back yard and Auntie mom throws a ball for me and I run get it and bring it back every time. Of course this gets me very tired, so I think I will call it a day. I hope everyone enjoys my new pictures and check out Pippin's too!

I Am Going to PetSmart!!

Today we are going to Petsmart to shop for Pippin's birthday. BUT... I am almost SURE I will be getting something too. Auntie mom always keeps me busy by having me chew on puppy chews and they do make my teeth super sharp! I may even get a new toy out of the deal, although Auntie mom told me that I already have two new toys coming to me by mail any day. We may even get to stop somewhere to eat. I am voting for KFC!! Auntie mom told me the "C" stands for Chicken and I will vote for Chicken any day! We may even get to stop at a park to play, although I am going to hate having that harness on me again. I don't like it when the leash touches my back. I can't wait for my car ride and maybe even a ride in the cart at Petsmart. I hope Auntie mom takes lots of pictures for you. And, of course, I hope Pippin picks out something special for his birthday!

First Day of Vacation

Today is officially our first day of vacation and I could definitely see the difference from a regular work day. For one, I didn't get in time out once and never got in my play pen either. I got to run around the back yard with Grandma mom this morning and then when Auntie mom woke up, I got to go in her room to play. I fell asleep in front of the A/C and then got to go outside to play again. There were no daycare kids kicking a ball around, and no one to step on me. Pippin and his mom came over around noon and I got to play with Pippin. Later Pippin's mom played with me and I ate all of my dinner. We took a ride to Iola and Pippin and I got a Sonic water to share. We drove down through the park and saw a lot of people at the fair. Pippin's mom said I am getting too big to sleep in the middle of the front seat, but I still manage to squeeze myself in so I can sleep in front of the A/C. We go for a car ride this evening too and Pippin barks at the dogs he sees and Grandma mom feeds us Beggin Strips. All in all, I think it was a perfect day!

Shopping Trip

Today I actually got to go with my family when they went to do their weekly shopping. I didn't get to go into the store, of course, but I did get to go. I had my first real outing at the park too, although I do hate that harness and leash. I don't like anything tickling my back and I am always trying to reach back there and get it off. Maybe one day I can run and explore like Pippin does and not even know the harness and leash is there. I got to go to Sonic and Grandma mom bought me and Pippin a chicken strip sandwich. Auntie mom bought some beef jerky, Beggin Strips and Grilled chicken dog treats to keep in the car for our rides. Later this afternoon, we went to Dairy Queen and I got my own doggie bowl of ice cream, and Auntie mom bought me another stuffed possum at Wal-Mart. I napped with Auntie mom and Pippin and then got to eat some chicken off the pizza that was ordered from Pizza Hut. Pippin's mom threw a soft ball for me in the back yard and I chased it and retrieved it every time. Auntie mom got a video that she will up load later. I had a great day today, even though Grandma mom did hold me while Pippin's mom filed my nails!

A Bath

Yesterday I had a bath and I have decided I don't like them. I made sure I got Grandma mom soaking wet along with me. I mean, why should only one of us get wet?! Auntie mom dried me over and over with a towel, so afterwards I felt better and took a nap. I guess I do get pretty dirty and I do love chasing those cats. I slept with Auntie mom again last night, but her cat kept waking us up by getting in and out of the window. How is a little guy suppose to get any sleep? I sure love those car rides though. Now when Auntie mom says it is time to go, I stand up to her legs for her to pick me up. I definitely don't like being left behind. I get hyper in the evenings and play hard before bed. Auntie mom was throwing a couple of my toys and I would run down and pick them up and bring them back for her to throw again. It was fun until I got tired. I am sleeping with Grandma mom tonight. She says she misses me when I don't sleep with her and maybe the cat won't wake me up tonight!

Long Weekend

It was one long weekend with Grandma's brother's funeral on Friday. I had to get in my crate on Friday while my family went to the funeral, and then again on Saturday morning when they went to do their weekly grocery shopping. I was so mad that I dug out all of the grass in my litter box and threw it all over the bottom of my crate. I actually whine and cry at the top of my lungs when someone comes in to take me out. I am that happy! Auntie mom got me a new stuffed toy, but I don't think anything makes up for me staying in my crate. I got to go over to Pippin's house on Sunday and I love playing over there. Pippin's mom feeds me with a spoon and I eat so much more if I was just eating out of a bowl by myself. Auntie found my Zanies dog behind Grandma mom's bed and I was so happy. That is my favorite toy! I have been sleeping with Auntie mom every night and sometimes I will hold my bladder all night long. Auntie mom seems very impressed and I am proud of myself. Next week is our family's vacation. I can't wait!!

A Funeral and a Police Car

Today was a long day, although I spent most of the morning locked in my crate. Pippin got to go to Grandma Mom's brother's funeral, but I am told that I am too little. How can you be too little to go to a funeral? Auntie mom tells me I don't have any manners yet. What are those and where can I get some? I get pretty mad at being left behind and tear up all of the paper at the bottom of my crate. I am so happy when my family returns and I whine and cry when Grandma mom comes to get me out. I do get to go when my family goes to Iola to run errands. Grandma's brother left his house to her, so there is a lot to be done in the next few weeks. Pippin and I share some ice cream at Dairy Queen and then I sleep on the way home. We encounter a police car when we go back up town to feed the stray cats. I guess there is a break light out and Auntie mom got a warning. Pippin barks at the police man, but I don't say a word. Auntie mom takes me outside before bedtime and I run after the cats for awhile. I bet I will sleep good tonight!

Puppy Teething Sticks

Auntie mom got me some Puppy Teething Sticks in the mail yesterday. I also got a Nylabone fish that is suppose to glow in the dark, but we have yet to see it do so. Of course I love chewing on things that I am not suppose to, like my bed, shoes, the kids flip flops, and wood. When I am put in the play pen, I bark and cry and bite at the mesh on the side. Auntie mom says I definitely have a mind of my own. I got those nasty ear drops in my ears again yesterday, but I had fun too. I love my possum toy, although I broke the squeeker in his tail. That doesn't stop me from chewing on it, but it doesn't squeek anymore. I slept with Grandma Mom last night and it gets cool enough without the A/C. This morning it was 61 degrees when Auntie mom took me outside. We think Grandma mom's brother's funeral is going to be on Friday, but I am told that dogs don't usually attend grave side services. That really bites! I bet Pippin gets to go because he is more obedient than I am. Well, Gosh, I am just a puppy!
I do want to thank all of my friends and my new friends for helping me to celebrate my Diary of the Day honor. I got so many friend requests, rosettes and congratulations that my tail was waggin' all day. Thank you to you all!!

Boy were we surprised this morning to find out that I won the honor of Diary of the Day! Pippin told me all about the many times he was chosen, but I didn't think it would feel this great! Me, the Chosen One, and here I thought that ole' Harry Potter was the Chosen One! I am so proud to be a part of something so wonderful as Dogster. I wish to thank Dogster HQ for choosing me, and for all of my new and wonderful friends that read my diary. I welcome all of the comments and thank you for all of your kind words. Thank you very much!

Harry Potter

Today my family left me alone in my crate for three hours just so they could go see the new Harry Potter movie. I am not too thrilled with Harry Potter right now. After all, he is the reason why I was left alone so long. I may only be a three month old pup, but I can do magic just as good as Harry Potter. I can make you smile. I can make you laugh. I can make you feel loved. Magic. What a wonderful word! My family did try and make it up to me when they got home though. I got to go on a car ride and I played out in the back yard for a long time. I don't think I will have any problems going to sleep tonight. Too bad dogs can't go into movie theaters!

An Extra Day Off

Yesterday my family took the day off from our usual mayhem of being daycare providers. Grandma mom's brother died on Thursday evening and there was a lot to take care of. I spent the morning sleeping and then I got to go over to Pippin's house while Auntie mom mowed our yard. I like playing with Pippin's jingle balls and Auntie mom promised me she would get me some too. I got those nasty ear drops in my ears again and Pippin always sniffs me and backs away like I have the plague! It was cooler yesterday and I got to play outside a lot. I still love chasing those cats in the back yard, and finding sticks and dry cat food loose in the grass. I slept with Auntie mom last night, but I kept getting off my pillow and lying right up against Auntie mom instead. I know I am going to be getting in my crate soon because my family has to go do their weekly shopping, so I had better go play so I will be tired and sleep the entire time they are gone. Everyone enjoy their Saturday!

Ziggies

Auntie mom got me some Ziggies Kong treats and I love them. I think I got the wrong size though, as my Kong is a puppy kong and the treats are small size. So when Auntie mom puts a Ziggies treat in my Kong, I can easily pull it out. Auntie mom gives me one in the morning after I eat breakfast and I chew on it until it is all gone. I think it also gives Auntie mom time to get a few things done too. I got to go over to Pippin's house again today, but his mom got mad at me when I had a small accident in Pippin's bed. No big deal. His bed is washable, isn't it? I slept with Auntie mom again last night and once again got her up at 3:30 a.m. to go outside. I go and hurry back inside. Auntie mom told me she hopes I still do that when Winter time comes around and it is cold outside. I know my name now and when someone says, "Petey come here", I come! When I see someone eating, I immediately sit down. I am hoping if I sit, I will get rewarded with a little something that they are eating. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. All in all, I love living with my new family!

DVD for Dogs

Yesterday I went over to Pippin's house and Auntie mom put on his DVD for Dogs video. You get to see a lot of different animals playing and making noise. I was fascinated with the dog that was barking and playing with a feather duster. Auntie mom took a video of me and put it on my page if anyone wants to view it. You can probably hear Pippin barking in the office. He kept thinking the dogs were outside! I always have fun at Pippin's house because he has so many toys and it is so much cooler. My ears still smell kind of funny because Auntie mom put my ear drops in yesterday too. It is called Mita Clear. I don't really care what it is called as long as it gets rid of those mites. Last night I got to sleep with Auntie mom again. I slept until 3 a.m. and then Auntie mom got up to take me outside. I am doing better and better at holding my bladder. My shot spot doesn't hurt anymore and Auntie mom wrote down the date of my vaccinations in my Dog Record Book. I have a lot of information in this book, including pictures. It is like my own little baby book. I am so glad that my family picked me!

Ear Mites

Yep, you guessed it. I have ear mites. We heard that a litter mate of mine was adopted by a nice man and when he took my brother to the vet, he also had worms, but had ear mites too. Pippin's mom always cleans out my ears, but they get dirty so fast. Then last night I kept shaking my head, so Auntie mom called the vet straight away this morning. I was suppose to go in on Wednesday morning with Pippin, but my family would not allow me to go another minute to find out if I had the mites or not. Auntie mom put on my collar and leash, but she did not need them. I stayed put in her arms and didn't want to get down. Every time a person walked by me, I would shrink back in Auntie mom's arms. The doctor called us back and he put a long Q-tip in my ear and went out to put it under the microscope. In a few minutes, he called us in and had Auntie mom look in the microscope. Auntie mom saw a big mite with lots of legs and big black eggs too. I got this nasty stuff in my ears and then the doctor cleaned them out and put the nasty stuff in again. He said the medicine has to be put in again tomorrow and then twice a week for three weeks. Then came those terrible shots. I got the set of booster shots and the Cough Guard shot. I yelped and cried with both shots. Auntie mom brought in my feces to examine too and the doctor said I am free of worms! I now weigh 6.4 pounds. I was so scared though and kept trying to climb up higher on Auntie's mom's shoulders. Every once in awhile I would let out a whine. Finally after an hour and $75 later, I get to go back out to the car. Auntie mom takes me to Sonic and shares a breakfast burrito with me. I am so happy to see Grandma mom when I get home and Auntie mom takes me in on my pillow and rubs my chest until I fall asleep. I end up sleeping a lot today. It must be a side effect from the two shots. I get three car rides though and fall asleep in front of the A/C each time. Sometimes I still cry when I accidently bump my shot spot, so hopefully it feels better tomorrow.

New Stuff

Last night I slept with Auntie mom. It is just cooler in Auntie mom's room, although neither one of us got much sleep. Grandma mom's brother is in the hospital and the phone kept ringing all through the night. Auntie mom did take me outside at 1:30 a.m. and then put me back to sleep by rubbing my chest in a circular motion. We got up at 6 a.m. and I went back outside, ate my breakfast and played until 9 a.m. Then I was put in that hated crate of mine and was left alone until my family returned from their weekly shopping trip. And, boy, did I get a lot of new stuff! I got my regular puppy food, a stuffed possum with a long springy tail, a squeeky bunny rabbit, some dental chew bones, 2 bags of Beggin Strips, (I share with Pippin) and a box of Ziggies treats. I loved my N Bone Puppy Teething ring, but it didn't last very long. Auntie mom bought it for me on line and it tastes good, but leaves my whiskers sticky. Auntie mom and I took a nap in front of the A/C after everything was put away and we slept until Pippin and his mom came in to wake us up. I got a ride to Iola and the car hop lady at Sonic told me and Pippin that we are cute. Pippin and I shared a doggie bowl of ice cream at Dairy Queen and then I slept on the way home. Pippin is staying the evening with us while his mom goes to a friend's house, but he isn't always fun to play with. Sometimes he bites hard and I cry. I like biting him too, except he doesn't cry. I hope Grandma mom turns on her A/C tonight. Auntie mom likes sleeping with me, but I don't think her cat does!

Car Wash

Today I got to experience my first car wash. What a rush!! Auntie mom puts me and Pippin in the car around noon for our daily afternoon car ride and I fall asleep almost immediately. I am not really tired, but when the days are so hot and the car is so cool, it just seems like the right thing to do. However today was different because Auntie mom stops the car, gets out, but leaves the car running. I get up to check where we are and imagine my surprise when I see water coming from all directions. Auntie mom goes around the car with a big brush, soaping the entire exterior. Then this big blast of water washes away all of the soap. I am standing up in the driver's seat looking out in wonderment. Eleven weeks old and already learning so much! Auntie mom takes me and Pippin across the road to Pippin's house. As soon as I am set on the floor, I race for Pippin's toy box. I love playing with his toys and chewing on his raw hide bone. I eat almost all of my dinner and then head to Pippin's Yuppy Puppy treat dispenser for some dry food. I notice Pippin is already eating some, so I bark at him and hang back until he goes to sit in front of the sliding glass door. I have already learned not to get around Pippin when he is eating. When Pippin has turned away, I race over to his Yuppy Puppy machine, grab a piece of dry food and run back to Auntie mom's side to eat it. I do this several times. Pippin goes over to get a drink and I watch him carefully until he is finished and then when Pippin leaves the room, I race over to get a drink too. I love to imitate Pippin, but I think he gets a bit annoyed with me, so I don't want to get too close! Pippin's mom gets off work early and we go to Iola to eat at A&W. I only get a few bites of hamburger. Auntie mom says "people" food is bad for me. When we get home, Pippin's mom tries to teach me to "sit". We go in Auntie mom's room to show her and I sit on the very first try! Sitting is worth it if I get a piece of Beggin Strip. I am tired now, so will bid everyone a good-night. I wonder what I am going to learn tomorrow!

Time - Out

Tonight I got a time-out. Now that I actually know what it is, I am going to be careful not to get another one. Time out is five minutes in a play pen. I cry and whine and try and jump out the entire time. Auntie mom says I have to stop jumping and biting at Pippin. He doesn't tolerate me for very long and then he jumps and bites back. I don't think it hurts, but Auntie mom says he is not suppose to be doing that with his hurt leg. What a party pooper! Pippin has been getting up on Auntie mom's bed by using his foot stool and that gives him time away from me. Well, surprise, surprise... I jumped up on the foot stool tonight and jumped up on the bed too. I actually did it!! I am getting bigger. I don't think Auntie mom or Pippin was that happy about it though. Auntie mom wears me out by playing the "blanket over her head" game. She puts a blanket over her head and then screams at me to help her. She starts yellin' and a hollerin' and telling me she can't breathe. I start trying to dig her out, yelping and crying the entire time. I eventually get that blanket off of her head and she really seems to appreciate the fresh air, so maybe I am helping after all! I got to go over to Pippin's house for awhile this afternoon. I love going over to his house and playing with all of his toys. I chew on his bones and his fox skin the most. We took Cousin Trent home tonight and I got some chicken and water at Sonic. I really love Sonic water and all of those small pieces of ice. Pippin and I wear ourselves out by playing this evening and both fall asleep on Auntie mom's bed. Grandma mom will come get me in awhile... she can't sleep without me now! (Mission Accomplished!!) Over and Out.

Multi Advantage

Auntie mom puts some of that nasty Multi Advantage between my shoulders tonight. What nasty smelling stuff. I couldn't wait for the stuff to dry, but then, how do you get rid of the smell? I am writing this down so I can keep track on when it gets put on. What better way to keep track then writing down in my diary? Everyone keeps saying I am getting bigger and I am growing. I don't look like the small baby puppy I was when I first came to live with my new family. I can run very fast and I prove that every evening when I chase those kittens around the back yard. I can also hold my bladder all night. Mind you that Auntie mom usually takes me out for the last time between 9 and 10 p.m. and she usually takes me out again in the morning around 5:30 a.m. But still, that is a long time! I still love to bite those unsuspecting hands and get so mad when I am told "NO". I start backing up and lunging forward and doing my best at growling and barking in just the right tone. I play with toys, but I still like biting hands and toes the best. I also still love jumping up and grabbing Auntie mom's hair too. I chew on things I am not suppose to and Auntie mom told me she ordered me some Bitter Apple Spray today. I don't know if that is a good thing or not... Stay tuned to hear all about my growing up days!

Button, Button, Who Has The Button?

Me!! This morning I got one of the buttons off of the love seat cushion and no one knew I had it. I dragged it under the love seat, but luckily, I got bored chewing on it and then I got caught with it. Auntie mom took it right away. I will chew on anything, from paper, wadded Kleenex and anything that may fall out of the trash. Auntie mom didn't have many kids in the daycare today, so I got out to run around more. Pippin came over for awhile and Auntie mom gave me some puppy chow. Now I already know not to get around Pippin while he is eating, but I guess no one told him that it goes both ways. I got a few pieces of puppy chow and then Pippin shoved me over and started eating my food. I started barking and barking at him. Auntie mom tells Pippin that I am getting mad and Pippin walks away from my dish. Well, a few minutes later, Pippin comes back and starts eating my food again. I immediately start barking at him again until he gets the message. Of course, my bark is worse than my bite. Or, is it? Later this evening, Grandma mom gives Pippin some chicken and Auntie mom fixes my food. Pippin is eating his chicken when Auntie mom tells me my dinner is ready. I make a very WIDE circle around Pippin to get to my food. No one messes with Pippin when he is eating! My Puppy Kong came in the mail today and Auntie mom immediately fills it with peanut butter. I love it! Pippin's mom cleaned out her closets today too and found some other toys that Pippin use to have when he was a puppy. I got an almost new set of puppy chew key rings. I love them too. Thank you Pippin!

Born Lucky

Today Grandma mom bought me a new shirt that says, "Born Lucky". I think I was born lucky, and very thankful to have a new and loving family.
I went all night long without going outside once. I slept on my pillow on Grandma mom's bed last night and woke her up at 6:15 a.m. Auntie mom gets up and takes me outside and then I eat breakfast. I play for over an hour and then I go back to bed with Auntie mom. I still like to chew and bite, so Auntie bought me a Puppy Teething Ring on line. It is suppose to be edible and digestable, so I guess we will see when it arrives in the mail box. Today is Auntie mom's birthday and the 4th of July. I am not sure what that means, but I had to stop in my tracks several times today when I heard those unmistakable booms around our house. Grandma mom cooked on the grill today and Auntie mom had a big Flag birthday cake, so it was definitely a day to celebrate. We took a ride to Chanute and Auntie mom bought me more puppy food, a Dogzilla chew toy and some new treats. Of course I think I would eat almost anything. Tonight after cake and ice cream, we go over to Pippin's house. Pippin is scared of the fireworks, so he stays on his mom's bed all evening with his mom trying to comfort him. The noise doesn't bother me and after playing by myself for awhile, I go to sleep on Pippin's pillow. I have been playing hard for the last few hours, so I think I will sleep good tonight. I hope the booms don't keep me awake.
Happy 4th of July!!

My Pillow: Auntie mom's bed

Have I told you that I hate my crate? Well, I do. The radio doesn't even help anymore. Auntie mom usually puts me to bed around 10 p.m. and I am up by 12 a.m. whining and crying. I KNOW Grandma mom will hear me and come running to put me in her bed. Last night was a little different. I think Grandma mom got a bit annoyed with me because I wouldn't sit still. So Auntie mom got my big $20 fluffy pillow and put it in her bed and I hopped on it and went right to sleep. I hope my pillow goes in someone's bed every night. Grandma mom and Auntie mom didn't have to work today, so imagine my surprise when I got put in my crate and my family went off to get their weekly groceries. I cried and whined, but this time no one came to get me. You can definitely imagine how happy I was when Auntie mom came back to get me later. I went right outside and then ate all of my lunch. Auntie mom got me some chicken slices from Pedigree Puppy and I loved it. Auntie mom also bought me a squeeky bear and a stuffed pheasant toy. I played and chewed while Auntie mom put away the groceries. Auntie mom is having a birthday tomorrow, so I am anticipating that cake and ice cream! Auntie mom puts me in her bed again and we take a short nap. It doesn't take me long to re-energize and I run off some steam in the back yard chasing all of those cats. Later we go to Iola and I get some of Pippin's mom's ice cream. I love sitting in Pippin's car seat and looking out the window. I think I am really going to love these car rides. I get to go sniff around the park for awhile and then play until I am exhausted. Pippin still gets a bit annoyed with me, but I do love playing with him.
A very Happy 4th of July to all of my Dogster friends!!

April Showers in June

Did Pippin tell you that he peed on me? Yep, he sure did. It happened at the park yesterday and I guess it was partially my fault because I kept following him around. I like following Pippin around, although I think he believes me to be annoying. Anyway, when I got home, Grandma mom gave me a bath and I hated it. I would not sit still and kept wiggling to be free. Auntie mom combed and brushed me and then we took a nap. You always feel better after a bath, and I suppose you smell better too. I slept in Grandma mom's bed last night from 1 a.m. until Auntie mom came in and got me at 6 a.m. Grandma mom still can't stand me crying at night and will almost always come in and put me in her bed. Auntie mom gets up early, so she takes me outside, feeds me breakfast, and we play until I fall asleep again. Today I went over to Pippin's house and his mom tried collar training. I hated it. That collar was put around my neck for five minutes and then taken off for thirty minutes. This torture continued all afternoon. How do dogs tolerate these things around their necks? I love being free. We went to the park again this afternoon and I got to run around and chase Pippin again. This time I did not get too close to him... I don't think I could endure another one of those baths. Of course I end up wetting my pillow in Pippin's car seat, so I didn't potty at the park. This evening I got to run around out in the back yard. I just love chasing those kittens and they tolerate me pretty well too. I am beginning to get the hang of barking now too. I think I am growing up!

My Own Pillow

I spent Sunday being spoiled and loved. I slept with Grandma Mom most of the night on Saturday and then got up early with Auntie mom and went back to bed with her until 10:30 a.m. I follow Auntie mom around the house just like Pippin does and I definitely know my family's voices. Pippin's mom calls around 1 p.m. and then we all pile in the car and go over to Pippin's house. I play with Pippin's toys while the family eat left over pizza. Pippin does bite at me when Grandma mom tries giving me a piece of sausage. Pippin is just too jealous and doesn't like to share food. I am glad that he doesn't mind sharing his toys! I love his rabbit skin, his vibrating squirrel, his Ninja Turtle ball and his fluffy pillow. I will go grab a piece of his dry dog food out of his bowl and then run lie on his fluffy $20 pillow to eat it. After lunch, we all pile back in the car and go to Chanute. Grandma mom stays in the car with me and Pippin and Auntie mom and Pippin's mom go into Wal-Mart and buy me my own pillow. Well, it is really Pippin's new pillow. I get Pippin's pillow at home because I already had an accident on it. Pippin's mom told me if I marked it, it is mine. Maybe that will work on some of Pippin's toys, you think?! We go to Sonic and McDonald's and I try climbing up on Grandma mom to steal some of her ice cream. Pippin's mom snaps some pictures, so I have one on my page. We go to the park and already I love car rides. We go back to Pippin's house and I play some more. Sundays are great around here!

Grandma Mom's Birthday!!

Auntie mom gets up early to take me outside and then we play for an hour or so before I am being put in my crate and my family leaves to do their shopping. I don't particularly like my crate, but I almost always get something for being so good, so it is worth it. Auntie mom comes in after 12 noon and immediately takes me outside. Grandma mom comes out to check on the kittens, so Grandma mom watches me while Auntie mom puts the groceries away. I am happy to see that bright yellow Beggin Strip bag, some chewy milk bones and my own Dogtronic Raccoon!! I love playing with Pippin's raccoon when I go over to his house and now I have my very own! I play for awhile and then Auntie mom and I get on her bed and fall asleep. The telephone wakes us up and soon I am being placed on my pillow in the car and we drive over to pick up Pippin and his mom. I get a ride to Iola and get a lot of attention from the car hop lady at Sonic. I also love to chew on Grandma mom's drink straw. We get to go to Pippin's house this afternoon and I play with his toys while Grandma mom is opening her birthday gifts. I eat some of Pippin's food and nap on his $20 pillow. I love it. Grandma mom says I have to have one too, but I think I am going to get Pippin's and Pippin is going to get a new one, since I already had an accident on Pippin's pillow. I get a car ride to pick up pizza for Grandma mom's birthday and then Grandma mom gives me a few teaspoons of ice cream from her ice cream cake. Pippin and I play a game of hide and seek and we get another car ride to feed the stray cats. We see cute kittens on this visit, a yellow and white one and a gray and white one. Auntie mom takes me outside before it rains and then tells me it is time to go to bed. She opens my crate door and I run in by her bed, try to get up on her bed and then look at Auntie mom to pick me up. Auntie mom says I have to sleep in my crate tonight...but I bet Grandma mom comes in to get me if I cry hard enough!
Happy Birthday Grandma Mom!! And thank you for putting me in your bed last night (I knew she would!!)

Auntie Mom Cut Her Hair!!

I can't reach Auntie mom's hair anymore. She didn't cut it real short, but it is short enough that I can't reach it when she is sitting down beside me. I guess hair isn't good for the digestion system like I thought.
I slept with Auntie mom last night. Not the whole night, but almost. I don't sleep when I am in my crate, so it was nice to finally get to sleep at night. I don't think Auntie mom got much sleep though.
Yesterday I spent another afternoon with Pippin and his mom. Pippin's mom also added some videos to my page. Check them out!
We went for a car ride last night when it got a little cooler and I got to see a bunny rabbit! It has been almost two weeks since I have come to live with my new family and I am lovin' every minute of it!!

Pippin's House

Auntie mom takes me through my regular morning routine, and leaves Grandma mom to watch over me while she goes to Chanute to get Cousin Trent. I stay awake pretty much all night, so I always like sleeping in the mornings. It is getting hotter as the morning goes on, and finally Auntie mom picks me up around 12:30 p.m. and we take a ride over to Pippin's house. Pippin gets carried out to the car and sits on his mom's lap while I nap on the pillow between the two front seats. After errands, we go to Iola to Sonic and Dairy Queen. I come awake when I smell ice cream. I try and swipe some from Pippin's mom, but she keeps saying no. Auntie mom gives me a couple of licks instead. Auntie mom has to stop on the way home so I can get out and potty. It is hard to find a good spot when it is a country road and the grass is tall as I am. Auntie mom leaves me with Pippin and his mom and I get to play at Pippin's house. I love his electronic raccoon. I could play with that all day! I always eat some of Pippin's dry food, but he doesn't seem to mind. Pippin's mom files my nails and cleans out my ears too. I play at Pippin's house until almost 6 p.m. and only get scolded once when I have an accident in the bedroom. I snooze on the ride to Chanute and everyone shares something with me at Sonic. We bid a good-bye to Trent and head for home. I don't whine in my crate until around 4:40 a.m. I figure Auntie mom gets up around 5 a.m. anyway, so may has well. I hope the day is cooler, although I do love going over to Pippin's house!

Auntie Mom's Hair

Have I told you that I love chewing on Auntie mom's hair? It is long and she usually keeps it in a braid on these hot days. Auntie's mom mistake is that she lies on the floor to play with me and I am like a puppy with ants in his pants. I jump at her, lunge at her, climb on her back and pull her hair, bite on her hands, etc. Auntie mom wants to know if any one can suggest a real good puppy chew toy! I do chew on everything and unlike Pippin, I will eat about anything. I am slowly becoming to know my name and will come when called. I follow Auntie mom all around the house, love to bite on toes, and barking and growling more each day. I love to play, but get tired fast. I don't think Auntie mom gets much sleep though. We went to bed at 11 p.m. last night and Auntie mom always gets up at 5 a.m. I started barking and whining around 12:30 a.m. and Grandma mom came in to get me. Maybe Auntie mom can take some time to lie down with me today. Pippin's mom gets to stay home with him for awhile. I hope I can still go over there to play in the afternoons!

Pippin's House Has Central Air!!

It was so hot today that I got to spend most of the afternoon at Pippin's house. Thank goodness for Central Air. I wish Auntie mom and Grandma mom had it at their house. I was better in my crate last night. Of course, I didn't sleep very much, but I didn't whine or cry at all. I think Auntie mom got worried because she gets up at 3:30 a.m. to check on me...THEN I start crying. Grandma mom hears me, so she comes in to get me and she puts me in her bed. Auntie mom must have checked my litter box, but I didn't use it at all. So Auntie mom comes back in to take me outside and then gives me back to Grandma mom after I am praised for "going" outside. The day gets hotter as it goes on and Grandma mom puts me in the baby pool a couple of times to cool me off. Then I get to go over with Auntie mom and Cousin Trent to Pippin's house. Now I like Pippin's house. He has sparkling water all around the house, a Yuppy Puppy Treat dispenser filled with dog food (now only if I can get it to come out!), lots and lots of toys, two soft pillows to lie on and a bed that Pippin's mom made. Oh, and did I mention Pippin's house has Central Air?! I play and play and don't get hot at all. I play until I am exhausted and then I curl up by the big bean bag and fall asleep. Auntie mom takes me outside again when I wake up and it is SO hot. Auntie mom laughs at me because I plop right down on the A/C vent when I come back inside. Hey, I know where that cool air is coming from! I chew on Pippin's bone and play with his toys until it is time to go home. We take Trent home and I lie on a pillow between the two front seats. We get drinks at Sonic and I drink a lot. We say good-bye to Cousin Trent until Thursday and then head for home. Auntie mom takes me outside again, but at least it has cooled off some. I play a bit more in Auntie mom's A/C room and then lie down in front of the fan and fall asleep. It is suppose to be hot again tomorrow. I don't think I like these heat advisories at all.

100 Degree Temperature

I think Summer is here. Today was so hot and I sleep when it is hot. It was hot yesterday and then I think I kept Auntie mom up almost all night last night. I am a very good crier and even a louder whiner. The radio didn't help either. I think Auntie mom is trying to keep me in a schedule. I get out of my crate around 5:30 a.m. and we go outside to empty my bladder. I eat my breakfast, play for an hour and then fall asleep again. When I wake up, I go back outside. I still think I sleep better on Auntie's mom bed with her though. I got a few car rides today, but one time, Pippin vomited all over the pillow I lie on and then all over his car seat. We don't know if the pain pill is doing it, or just the heat. He is not suppose to take his pill tomorrow to see if there is any change. We are all worried about Pippin. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Pippin did get mad me tonight... I accidently had a slight accident on his new $20 pillow that Auntie mom bought him for being so good at the vet's. Pippin has to rest his leg and anyone can rest on that soft pillow. I guess I can get pretty jealous too, although Grandma mom also bought me a new bed. I love playing with Auntie mom, although I know I can bite pretty hard sometimes. I keep hearing that I need a teething toy. Auntie mom plays with me by putting a tee shirt over her head (I think to avoid me biting and pulling at her hair) and then starts yelling at me to help her. She is like, "Petey, help me. I can't breathe!" and then she start breathing and panting really fast. I go to work, trying my best to dig that tee shirt off her face. When I can't do it, I get mad, and start growling and doing my puppy barks, getting so frustrated, yet trying to get it off Auntie mom's face as fast as I can. Auntie mom thinks it is funny, but she doesn't think it is too funny when I bite her ear! My family always tries to wear me out in the eveings so I can sleep at night, but it doesn't always work. Auntie mom did mow this afternoon so the grass is not as tall as me anymore. I ran around outside and went over to Pippin's house to play. For Auntie mom's sake, I do hope I sleep well tonight.

My First Disaster!

Today is Father's Day, and although there is no male human in my family, we celebrated anyway. My day started at 6 a.m. when Auntie mom gets up to take me outside. I eat my breakfast and play for an hour. I am your most typical energized puppy, going from one room and back again, sometimes running into things if I am running too fast. I love chewing on the screws in the baseboards or chewing on electrical cords. I wear myself into exhaustion and at 8 a.m., Auntie mom takes me to her bed. I fall asleep immediately and Auntie mom goes back to sleep with me. We end up sleeping until 11:30 a.m. I sleep so much better in someone else's bed. Auntie mom gets me up and we go outside. Grandma mom is entertaining her sister and her two grandchildren, so I get a lot of attention. Pippin and his mom comes over for lunch and I try to play with Pippin, but no one will allow it. Pippin has a hurt leg now and can't run and play with me. Soon I am sitting in the back seat with Grandma mom and we drive out to Grandpa's grave site. My family lets me run around without a leash, but it is out in the country and no one is around. After our visit with Grandpa, we all pile back in the car to discover we have a flat tire. It is so hot, so Auntie mom keeps the car running while Pippin's mom changes the tire and puts on the donut. We are driving slow on the country roads when our donut tire goes flat. At least we are on a more traveled dirt road. Several people stop, but our original tire and our donut is destroyed, with no fix to them. One of Auntie mom's daycare fathers give us a ride back to town. I am very hot by this time and I know my family is worried about me and Pippin. We go over to Pippin's house and I immediately get a drink. My family has to go buy a new tire, so Auntie mom carries me home and I am put in my crate. I don't like this, but at least it is cool and I have food and water. It is about an hour when everyone comes home, new tire and our car back in the driveway. My first disaster and I lived through it!!

A Week With My New Family

It has officially been one week since I came to live with my new family, and I wouldn't trade it for anything!! I am also doing much better sleeping at night. I only got up one time last night and it didn't take long for me to fall back asleep. The sound of the radio does help. Auntie mom gets me up at 6 a.m. and I take a visit outside, eat all of my breakfast and play for an hour before falling asleep again. Grandma mom plays with me for awhile too, but then something different happens. Auntie mom puts me back in my crate, turns the radio back on, and everyone leaves. Pippin warned me that this would happen. Saturday mornings is the scheduled time that my family goes to get their weekly groceries. I have to stay home. Auntie mom comes in around 1 p.m. and takes me outside to empty my bladder. I always get a lot of praise when I do this. Then to my surprise I get more Cesar puppy food, but this time there is a hard little "something" mixed up inside. My family visited the vet again this morning and told the doctor that I am still getting little white worms out with my feces. I get a little pill for those "tape worms". Of course I keep spitting it out and finally Grandma mom holds me on my back and pops the pill down my throat. Yuck!! Auntie mom got me two new toys, a Tiny Dog Blue Hippo that squeeks, and a baby toy "dog" that jingles. Grandma mom bought me a soft bed with the sides standing up so I can rest my head on it. Of course I just turned it over and dragged it around the living room by the tag that was sticking out of the bottom. I get a new feeding dish, my Cesar Puppy food and my all time favorite... Beggin Strips! When the groceries are all put away, we go over to pick up Pippin and his mom and we head to Iola. I snooze between Grandma mom and Pippin's car seat. Auntie mom lets me out at Riverside Park for a couple of minutes and then I snooze all the way home. I run around in the back yard when we get home, but always seem to trip over my own feet. Pippin goes to lie down with Auntie mom while Grandma mom and Pippin's mom plays with me. We go for another car ride and then I eat my dinner and play some more. It is almost 11 p.m. when Auntie mom puts me in my crate with my new bed. I am cool, I am content, and I am loved!!

I am 8 Weeks Old Today!

Everyone tells me I am growing and I am officially 8 weeks old today. I don't feel any different. It was another hot day and I spent most of it napping in my play pen and trying to stay cool. Grandma mom tries keeping me awake by playing with me and getting me up to take me outside in the cool grass. Sometimes I like eating it, but I always get a lot of praise when I "go" outdoors. Pippin had to go to the vet today, because he was hopping on his back leg. The doctor tells him that he may or may not have a torn ligament. Pippin is on a pain pill every day and he has to limit his activities. This means he can't play with me anymore. I didn't see much of Pippin all afternoon because Auntie mom took him home to rest. I did see him this evening. We all went to Iola and Grandma shared some of her Sonic hamburger with me. I also like chewing on straws, and, like Pippin, I love Dairy Queen ice cream! When we get home, Pippin goes to lie down with Auntie mom and I run around in the back yard under the watchful eye of Grandma mom and Pippin's mom. I also like to chase the cats, but they get scolded if they mess with me. I hope Pippin gets better soon though. It breaks our hearts to see him limping/hopping on that back leg. Please keep Pippin in your prayers.

Days are for Sleeping, Nights are for Crying

My family tells me I have my days and nights mixed up. I am not sure what that means, but I do hate being in my crate at night with no one beside me. I like curling up beside someone and already hate being alone. Auntie mom did set up a radio on my crate, and that seems to help. I went to bed around 10:30 p.m. and woke up close to 1 a.m. Auntie mom got up to check on me and then took me outside to empty my bladder. Of course, to my disappointment, I got right back in my crate. I woke up crying around 4 a.m., but Auntie mom ignored me and after a few minutes, I was quiet again. I do sleep a lot during the day, but it is so hot and I want to grow.
I got to meet Cousin Trent yesterday and he said he likes me! I get hugs and kisses a lot from Auntie and Grandma mom, but Pippin doesn't always like me. He snapped at me once and made me cry. I have to get better at judging his moods. The fleas are really bad this year. Auntie mom combed several out on my small body, even though I have the Advantage Multi for puppies on. I am so much happier now though and so happy with all of the new friends I have made here on Dogster. Thank you for making me feel so welcome!

Crate Training and How I Hate It

I am trying to resist this thing called Crate Training, but I didn't succeed last night. I whined and cried and Grandma mom didn't come in to get me at all. I was so disappointed. Auntie mom is in the same room with me, so I know she didn't get much sleep. She put the radio on a couple of times for me and that does help. Around a quarter to 2 a.m., Auntie mom gets up because I am crying so hard. She sees that I have spilled my water, so she takes me outside where I empty my bladder and takes out the wet paper inside my crate and replace it with dry paper. But to my disappointment, she puts me right back in the crate. I whine and cry some more and then I hear the radio come on. I must have fallen asleep, because I don't get up again until Auntie mom gets up at 5:15 a.m. I get taken outside again and then I play until Auntie mom gets ready for the day and then I get to eat.
I had a good time yesterday although it was so hot. I sleep a lot in my play pen and get to play on the floor if there is not a lot of kids in the room. I do love playing with Pippin, but he doesn't tolerate me very long. Auntie mom finds a pacifier that she says I can have and I love it. Auntie mom takes some pictures and tells me she will put them here on my Dogster page as soon as she can. I get to meet Cousin Trent today and I can't wait!

Third Day and Lovin' It!

My third day at my new home and I already have my family wrapped around my little paw. Grandma mom can't stand to hear me cry, so I will sleep in my crate for about an hour and then I will start whining. Grandma mom can't hear in one ear, so even though she can't hear if someone is talking to her, she can hear me from two rooms away. She came in last night and put me in her bed again. Like Pippin, I don't like being left alone. It is just so much nicer to be cuddled up beside someone. Yesterday was nice, because I had so much fun playing with my new toys and napping in my play pen. I only had one accident on the floor, but that really wasn't my fault because no one knew I woke up and had to go out. I have been eating my Puppy Chow dry and not softened and Auntie mom tells me I have good strong teeth. (She would know, I love biting on her toes!) I got two car rides, one with Pippin and his mom and one to the park. I snoozed while Pippin got out with his mom. Pippin's mom said she couldn't find any worms in my feces, but she did see some corn. I admit, I got to the left over lunch that Grandma mom threw out for the cats. I love my new home and my new family. I get all I want to eat, a cuddle place to sleep and plenty of people to love and play with me. I like playing with Pippin too, although he always gets tired before I do. Auntie mom says she will register me for the city today and tomorrow I get to see Cousin Trent!!

My First Vet Visit

Today was my first vet visit and I tolerated it well except for the shot. Pippin's mom held me in the car on the ride to the vet's office and then Auntie mom held me until we got called back to the exam room. Everyone "ooh and ahh'ed" over me, but I just wanted to sleep. Grandma mom says that means I am growing. This lady doctor did a full examination and I didn't even seem to mind having my temperature taken. I am a whopping 3.2 pounds. We found out a lot about my situation today.. my heart and lungs sound good. I did have an umbilical hernia, but the doctor pushed it back in. I got an antibiotic spray for the sores on my flea bites and a Puppy Kit with a tube of Advantage Multi inside for my fleas and worms. I also got a worm treatment which consisted of a syringe filled with this yellow substance that tasted like bananas. The shot consisted of three mixed vaccinations and I cried and cried. Pippin was sitting on the floor and jumped up and stood up to Auntie mom's leg to see what they were doing to me. I just could not stop crying, it stung so much. The doctor rubbed it and I got so many pets and hugs from Auntie mom. I have to go back in a month for my second set of boosters. Doggone it, I hope it doesn't hurt as much as this one did. Grandma mom held me a lot today and then I napped on Auntie mom's bed in front of the A/C. My crate is now in Auntie mom's bedroom and I did okay for an hour and then let out some whines. Grandma mom heard me right away and came and got me. Some time during the night, I got put back in my crate, but later when I started whining again, Grandma mom came back and got me again. I think we both have separation anxiety. I did use the litter box Auntie mom included in my crate. It is just a regular litter box filled with newspaper and grass. It is like my own outside in a box, which is good because we had a terrible thunderstorm last night and it was raining too hard to go outside. I am so glad that I got this family to love and care for me, even if I do have to have the shots.

My 2nd Day in my New Home

I miss my fur siblings, but I have two moms now. Pippin's Auntie and Pippin's Grandma. Does that make Pippin my cousin? Oh well, I belong to everyone in the family now! I go outside this morning and do very well. Everyone is amazed how my house training is going. I eat my breakfast, play and nap. I am snoozing in my play pen when Pippin and his mom comes over to eat lunch. I like playing with Pippin. He barks at me and I jump at him and Pippin runs around in a circle and comes back to play with me again. After lunch, Pippin and I both go outside and I have my first bowel movement. You would think my family was going to throw a party!! As soon as I am finished, I go running to Auntie mom and stand up to her leg to pick me up. She praises me, pets me and kisses me. I like those yummy Beggin Strips too. We are going to Chanute this afternoon and I snooze in Pippin's car seat while he sits on his mom's lap. I sit in the car with Grandma mom and Pippin and get rewarded with a new toy and a puppy bone to chew on. We go to Santa Fe Park and I do my business under a tree while Pippin gets to run around with his mom. It is hot today and Auntie mom holds me while trying to catch a breeze. A car goes by and someone says, "Oh look at that cute pug puppy" Pippin and I enjoy the A/C when it goes back on and I immediately go back to sleep. I think I am going to enjoy car rides. Pippin and I play when we get home, and I am taken outside every hour to empty my bladder. Later I get another car ride around town and after eating bite size pieces of Beggin Strips, I fall asleep again. Pippin wears me out this evening by playing and chasing me, so after one last bathroom break, I am put inside my crate to sleep. Grandma mom is a sucker though and can't stand my whining, so she comes to put me in her bed for awhile. I am put back in my crate when Grandma mom is ready for bed, but I hear Auntie mom get up at 12:30 a.m. and I start whining again. She softly "shhhh" so I can hear her voice, but Grandma mom hears me and takes me back to her bed. I am going to love living in this house!

A New Home For Me!

I am not even eight weeks old yet and already have a new family. I was born in a small town called Buffalo, KS. My mom is half Pug, half Boston Terrier, and my dad is pure Pug. I didn't live in very good conditions. Pippin's mom saw me and my siblings when she was visiting my family with her friend. I was promised and my new family had to wait four weeks to come and get me. Pippin's mom picked me up on Saturday evening of June 13th and brought me home. I was covered in fleas and have sores around my neck where the fleas have been biting me. My new family flea combed me for over two hours and got almost every single flea off my tiny body. I also have tape worms. A vet's visit is due for me tomorrow morning to get a full examination. I have a new crate to sleep in, a soft bed, new dishes to eat out of, and a lot of love and cuddles. I also have a play pen to sleep in during the day. The blankets are so soft and I have plenty of toys to play with. I am doing really good with the house training already... I used the litter box in my crate last night and go outdoors during the day. I get Beggin Strips for a snack when I do something good, so I am definitely going to keep that up! I am so glad to be apart of this loving new family!!
