Arrival Story: We bought Petey from a friend of a friend. He was living in very poor conditions, but was too young to come home with us when we found out about him. We waited four long weeks and Petey came to live with us on Saturday, June 13th. He was covered in fleas and we worked two flea combs through him for over two hours and got every single one. We also think he has tape worms and has sores along his necks from the many flea bites. He goes into the vet first thing Monday to get a full exam. He is sleeping and eating well now without all of the fleas biting him. Petey's mother is half Pug, half Boston Terrier. Petey's dad is a pure bred Pug. Petey is 3/4 Pug, 1/4 Boston Terrier.
Bio: He is very quiet, but already following us around. He did very well in his crate the first night, even during a thunder storm. He eliminated in a litter box we made up for him, consisting of newspaper and grass. We take him out every hour and he always "goes" without any problems. He is not even eight weeks old yet!
Update: Petey is almost six months old now and far from quiet. He is very active, chews on almost everything and loves to get in trouble. We couldn't ask for anything better!

I have been a therapy dog ever since Auntie mom was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. Auntie mom was in bed all last week, so I was kind of bored with no one to play with. Believe me, therapy dogs definitely don't have fun in this profession. Most of the time I just curled up against Auntie mom in bed and fell asleep with her. I would try to get her to play with me by bringing her toys, but she would have none of it. I think I slept more last week than I have in my entire life. I do think Auntie mom liked having me curl up with her though, so that was one good pro in being a therapy dog. I didn't get many car rides, so that was a con in having Auntie mom sick. I wouldn't get a car ride until around 5 p.m. and then Auntie mom would take me with her when she went to feed the stray cats. Yes, despite Auntie mom being sick, she still managed to get out every evening to feed those stray cats. It was good to get away from the house for awhile, but it was always already dark, so I sure didn't get to see much. Auntie mom would bring me home after we fed the cats, and then she would go over and pick up Pippin from his house. Pippin hurt his leg on Thanksgiving, so I am not even allowed to play with him anymore. Once Pippin came over, I was not allowed to be around Auntie mom either. Pippin would go lie down with Auntie mom, taking my place at being therapy dog, and I would retire with Grandma mom to her room. I sure hope Auntie mom and Pippin get well soon, so I can have some fun again.
Today is Thanksgiving and I can't wait for the turkey. I think turkey is my favorite meat, because it is also my favorite flavor in the Chef Micahel's entrees. I have a lot to be thankful for this year, and I am so ever lasting thankful that I found such a loving family and have a wonderful and warm home.
Yesterday, Auntie and Grandma mom did not have to work in the daycare, so I really had fun. We went over to Pippin's house for chocolate chip pancakes, and although I didn't get any, it is always nice to be included. I played with Pippin's toys and then Pippin and I got a ride to Chanute and got a chicken strip sandwich at Sonic. When we got back to Pippin's house, everyone started putting up this tree in the living room and decorating it with colorful balls. I kept chewing on the lower branches of the tree, but I kept getting scolded for it too. I think Auntie mom got some pictures of "the crime". I love going over to Pippin's house, but I kept getting in trouble too. I went in the guest room and grabbed a bag of prescription medicine and dragged it into the living room. Auntie Trisha quickly took that away from me. Then Cousin Tanner got a big bag of beef jerky from his mom's suit case and then me and Pippin kept chasing him around the room trying to get it away from him. We love beef jerky. Today more company is arriving because Auntie Judith and Uncle Robin are coming from Topeka. And did I mention we are having turkey and ham??!! Oh boy, I can't wait. I am still sleeping with Auntie mom at night and it isn't too bad. She does complain that I take up too much room and one point she dragged me over because she said I was knocking her off the bed. I think Auntie mom just likes to complain though! :-)
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
I have been having fun with family from Indiana. I am petted and played with almost all of the time now. I am going to miss the quiet when everyone is gone this weekend. There is still lots to look forward to. Pippin and I are going to go see Santa Claus this weekend. I am not sure who the man is, but if he looks like the man standing outside my front door, I am going to bark like crazy. Auntie, Pippin and his mom let me out the front door because we were going for a car ride. Imagine my surprise when I discover a man standing by the door in a red suit. I am very surprised to see this man and back and lunge back when I first encounter him. I start barking at him, and keep barking at him, and the entire time Auntie and Pippin's mom is laughing at me. I guess the man ends up not being real, but he is still standing and to me... that is still a threat. I am a very good protector and a very good watch dog. I don't know whether to protect or to hide from this particular man though, because he always seems to be there by the door. I wonder how long he is staying. And if he is suppose to bring gifts like Auntie says, why isn't he getting to it? I am definitely learning a lot as I am getting older!!
