Arrival Story:
We adopted Elwood from Springer rescue back in 2003. He had been found wondering by a young guy who was not able to care for him so he turned him over to the rescue. From the minute we had our first visit with him at his foster mom's house we knew he was the dog for us.

Bio:
While Elwood was out on his own he had broken his ankle and only used 3 of his legs to walk or run. The muscles in his bad leg were totally gone. Once we adopted Elwood we began to rehab his leg and within 6 month he no longer hopped. It also turns out that he is a fully trained hunting dog and can out hunt all of his hunting buddies. We are blessed to have found him

Bunnies

There was an article in yesterday's news paper that I read about the increase in the bunny population in the twin cities. All I can say to that is: NOT IN MY YARD!

Silly Wabbits...Ha!

Random Thoughts from a Springerhead

Not much to write today - I'm more laid back than Jake he just tends to ramble in his diary. Have you noticed that? On and on about nothing! I only like to write when I have something to bark at you.

Today started off with a bang - there was stupid bunny in the yard, but I took care of that. When will they learn to stay out my yard? Geesh (is that a word? - I heard my Grandma say that when I caught a bunny the other day)

Other than that it's been a quite day - just napping on the sofa while mom works.

No big news here since I don't have to go to school like Jake - I already know everything 'cuz I'm 8. Or at least we think I'm 8. I'm adopted so we don't really know my birthday we celebrate my adoption day and the vet said that I was about 2 when I got here. It's crazy that I've been living with these people for so long.

Did you read that Jake thinks he's a genius? Please! He's only 3 how could a 3 year old be a genius? If anyone's a genius in this house it's me! I mean come on - he flushes Robins who in their right mind flushes a Robin - what good are they? He might as well catch an inch worm. And if he was a genius why does he have to go to school on Mondays?

I'm going to go pester mom to stop working and take us to the creek. Wish me luck

Backyard Hunting

Well, I see Jake already told everyone about my catching 3 bunnies yesterday in the backyard. And NO he didn't help me - like I need help from a Peke-a-Chon to catch a bunny. Ha! Just kidding he's a nice kid, but some times he's a pain (if you know what I mean).

Anyway back to my story. I met my grandparents for the 1st time and wanted to show them what a great hunter I was, but there wasn't anything to hunt. Then I was sitting on the deck and got a whiff of a bunny nest from under the deck. Holy cow was I excited!

Now, I just needed to get those bunnies out from under the deck! And with my excellent skills (and a little bribery) I got 3 bunnies out from under the deck. Man what I day, what a hunt!

Except I think I scared my grandparents - they've never seen a hunting dog in action and weren't sure what to do when I brought them the bunny.

Oh well, it was great for me and Jake, we sure had fun doing what we like to do best. That's hunting if you haven't figured that out yet.

Well, gotta go help mom mow the lawn and off to the composite site for cookies!
