  • The 7 Best Dog Pee Pads

    1. Frisco Dog Training Potty Pads – Best Overall

    Frisco Dog Training Potty Pads

    Material: Paper
    Count: 150
    Scent: Unscented, scented
    Absorbency: High
    Dimensions: 22 x 23 inches

When it comes to overall practicality, Frisco Dog Training Potty Pads were our favorite. You get a large box that stretches far for your dollar and these pads get the job done. We don’t think you could ask for much more if you’re looking for a product that covers the basics.

These puppy pads come in a pack of 150. Each pad we reviewed is completely unscented, but there is a scented variety you can select if you prefer. A single pad covers a decent amount of ground, measuring 22 by 23 inches.

These pads are thin, so we were impressed as to how much liquid it holds. If you have a puppy or senior, we think they could really benefit from these. Inside, the product contains a built-in puppy attractant, so your dog knows just where to go.

After they use the pad, it absorbs quickly so your pup doesn’t track the urine all over the house. There are five layers inside, including a quilted quick/drying top, two layers of dual absorbent tissue, polymer, and a leak-proof liner.

    Pros
    • Thin but absorbent
    • 5 layers of protection
    • Built-in attractant
    Cons
    • Basic design

    2. Lenny Pads Absorbent Washable Pads – Best Value

    Lenny Pads Absorbent Washable Pads

    Material: Polyester, cotton, vinyl
    Count: 1
    Scent: Unscented
    Absorbency: High
    Dimensions: 24 x 36 x 0.25 inches

If you want to find a quality product without paying an arm and a leg, consider Lenny Pads Ultra Absorbent Washable Pads. You only get one in a pack, but it’s completely machine washable and reusable—perfect for the environmentally-conscious owner.

This reusable pad is incredibly absorbent—impressive considering it beats reusable puppy pads that are twice the cost. It is made of polyester, cotton, and vinyl for absorbency and efficiency. Each one is soft to the touch and looks like a rug to the naked eye.

We really love that you don’t have to worry about throwing away a pad each time, as it can cause a lot of trash build-up and smell. However, it is time-consuming to wash it. We recommend having a backup for in-between washes unless you occasionally use it.

In comparison to other products of this nature, you cannot beat the quality for the price. We think you will appreciate it. However, you might accrue a little more cost if you have to buy two to alternate.

    Pros
    • Affordable
    • Machine washable
    • Efficient and discrete
    Cons
    • Might need more than one to alternate

    3. Pet Parents Pawfect Round Pads – Premium Choice

    Pet Parents Pawfect Round Pads

    Material: Polyester
    Count: 2
    Scent: Unscented
    Absorbency: Very high
    Dimensions: 48 inches

If you don’t mind paying a little extra for a long-lasting product, look at the Pet Parents Pawfect Round Pads. These machine-washable puppy pads are a little more money upfront, but you can alternate in between uses, making the buy extremely practical.

There are two puppy pads per order: one gray, one tan. Neither are scented, as they are reusable—each measuring 48 inches in diameter. These pads offer a sure-fire solution to continually replacing disposable puppy pads.

We really liked that you can’t tell it’s so discrete. However, if you are using them to cover the bottom of a kennel, it won’t meet edge to edge—so there is no full coverage. Guests won’t even realize these neutral circles are puppy pads—so it cuts out on the eyesore of disposable selections.

The top of the puppy pads had a quilted design to lock in liquids fast so avoid tracking. The bottom comprises a slip-resistant rubber to grip surfaces, so they are suitable for open spaces.

    Pros
    • Practical
    • Two-pack
    • Locks in liquid quickly
    Cons
    • Won’t cover crate or kennels edge to edge

    4. Wee Wee Little Dog Pee Pads — Best for Puppies

Wee Wee Little Dog Pee Pads

    Material: Cotton
    Count: 28
    Scent: Unscented
    Absorbency: High
    Dimensions: 16.5 x 23.5 inches

Potty training is tough. If your puppy is just learning the ropes, let us recommend Wee Wee Little Dog Pee Pads. They are specifically designed to absorb urine from small dogs and puppies to prevent leaking and overflow onto your floors.

These puppy pads come in a pack of 28. Each one measured 16.5 by 23.5 inches, making them perfect for smaller kennels and crates.

These unscented cotton pads are 100% leakproof, touting wet lock gel that immediately soaks in the liquid. It’s incredibly efficient for getting all messes to avoid overflow or tracking. They are perfect for small or large spaces but might slip on hard surfaces if they aren’t secured.

We think these pads are an excellent tool to get the ball rolling when your pup is starting out. But these pads are not a permanent solution.

    Pros
    • 100% leak-proof
    • Ideal size for crates or kennels
    • Awesome tool for beginners
    Cons
    • For beginners only

    5. Hartz Home Protection Mountain Fresh Puppy Pads

Hartz Home Protection Mountain Fresh Puppy Pads

    Material: Paper
    Count: 60
    Scent: Scented
    Absorbency: High
    Dimensions: 30 x 21 x 0.2 inches

If you have a larger breed, you need a puppy pad that will compensate for those big bladders. Hartz Home Protection Mountain Fresh Puppy Pads do just that—plus, they have an extremely pleasing scent that combats odors.

These puppy pads come in packs of 60. Each one, when unfolded, measures 30 by 21 by 0.2 inches. It’s perfect for stretching a while in between purchases—and each one fits nicely into several areas, including small kennels or cages.

It is built with 6-layer construction. Flash-dry technology turns the liquid into gel, so it doesn’t track or bleed onto the flooring. The pad also neutralizes those odors with a gray mountain spring scent.

The entire composition of these dog pads works well for larger animals but might be unnecessarily big for smaller dogs.

    Pros
    • 6-layers of protection
    • Flash-dry technology turns urine to gel
    • Fresh scent
    Cons
    • Might be unnecessarily large for small dogs

    6. Green Lifestyle Reusable Dog Pee Pads

Green Lifestyle Reusable Dog Pee Pads

    Material: Polyester
    Count: 4
    Scent: Unscented
    Absorbency: Moderate
    Dimensions: 34 x 36 inches

If you need an absorbent pad in your dog’s kennel while you’re away, Green lifestyle Reusable Dog Pee Pads are a terrific, machine-washable solution. This product will really get you far, allowing you to always have a fresh pad on hand but not having to buy them again and again.

Each pad measures 34 by 36 inches, making it cover a decent amount of space. The design is perfect for a corner, kennel, or even the middle of a room. The bottom grips so you can even put them on hard floor surfaces.

We won’t rave about the absorbency. It was definitely sufficient for an accident or two, but we wouldn’t recommend these pads for hours of use at a time. An upside here is that there are four, so it’s easy to swap out even a few times per day.

    Pros
    • 4-pack
    • Machine washable
    • Can use on hard floors
    Cons
    • Not super absorbent

    7. Glad Activated Carbon Puppy Pads

    Glad Activated Carbon Puppy Pads

    Material: Paper
    Count: 50
    Scent: Unscented
    Absorbency: Moderate
    Dimensions: 28 x 30 x 0.1 inches

If you want to kick those odors associated with accidents, consider Glad Activated Carbon Puppy Pads. We really liked that these pee pads don’t stick out as much. Typical disposables are white on top, but these are a very dark charcoal gray.

These pads are disposable, coming in packs of 50. Each individual pad measures 28 by 30 inches and is considered jumbo-sized. Because they are larger than standard sizes, these pads would work for puppies to medium-sized dogs.

These activated carbon pads use the power of polymer and carbon to absorb liquid and control odors. It was decently efficient, but there was still some residual smell.

These pads definitely put a unique spin on things, but these ones will be too large for some spaces.

    Pros
    • Works well for puppies and adults
    • Uses polymer and carbon to control odor and moisture
    • Charcoal color blends in
    Cons
    • Might cover too much area for some spaces

Buyer’s Guide: Selecting The Best Dog Pee Pad

    Dog Pee Pad Absorbency

Absorbency is obviously one of the key aspects to look for when you’re buying puppy pads. If puppy pads are poorly made, they can leak onto your floor, completely removing the point of the product.

    Dog Pee Pad Size

Size is important for several reasons. The size of your dog says a lot about the amount of urine it will excrete. Getting the proper size ensures no leaking or insufficiency with your purchase.

Size is also important when you consider a kennel or crate that you might be trying to cover.

    Dog Pee Pad Quality

Skimping on quality pretty much guarantees that you might not be satisfied with your purchase. Quality doesn’t necessarily have to mean high dollar, it just has to be an upstanding product that does what it advertises. You might find that cheaper puppy pads tend to leak, tear, or track.

    Dog Pee Pad Thickness

Thickness isn’t always a sure-fire way to know a puppy pad is going to withstand frequent potty trips, but it is a pretty good indicator. Once you start browsing puppy pads, you’ll notice that many of them advertise multiple layers.

These layers work together to soak in, trap, and even transform waste liquids.

    Dog Pee Pad Attraction

Because most puppy pads are used for training purposes, many of them have built-in attractants, so your doggie knows just where to go.

Disposable vs. Reusable Dog Pee Pads

Manufacturers produce both disposable and reusable puppy pads. You’re probably quite familiar with the disposable type, but you might not have tried reusable puppy pads. Each one has its benefits and downfalls.

    Disposable Puppy Pee Pads

Disposable puppy pads come in packs of sat numbers. These pads are designed to be used once or twice and then thrown away. Some disposable puppy pads are more absorbent than others. However,

    Reusable Puppy Pee Pads

Reusable puppy pads come in singular and multipacks. These pads are designed for frequent use and are typically machine washable for easy cleaning.

Of course, puppy pads are just a solution to an issue and you shouldn’t be needing them for a long time. The main focus should be a proper potty training. A veterinarian can help you with this by giving some great advice and tips.
