Dogster_Whippet Names

As expensive as it can be, getting your home secure and ready for your new puppy is sometimes the easiest part. Coming up with a name for your Whippet pup, on the other hand, can be a challenging task. Names are intended to remain for life, so take some time, look through different ideas, and do your dog justice.

We’ve got you sorted with our extensive list of popular and unique Whippet names.

dogster face divider How To Name Your Whippet Dog

The fun part about naming a dog is that you can use their appearance and personality to come up with a name. Whippets tend to be gentle, affectionate, sweet, slender, and fast. They can have a solid coat color or have spots, patches, or combinations of both. Based on the appearance and personality of your Whippet, you could consider popular and unique names such as Chase, Flash, Patch, or Honey.

Although calling your Whippet a creative name may sound fun, keep in mind that you’ll need to train your dog by their name. If their name is hard to say or very long, it can become quite a mouthful, which could end up confusing both you and your dog. If you can’t repeat a name over and over without getting tongue-tied, you may need to consider a shorter name.

Another helpful tip is to avoid names that sound similar to commands, as your dog may think you’re calling them when you’re giving them a command and vice versa. In the same way, avoid giving your dog a name that is similar to your other pet.

It’s okay to try out a few names at first but avoid constantly changing your dog’s name. Take a few days to make your decision, and then stick with it so that your dog can learn to respond to it.
