If you ever wonder if you and the rest of the dogsters can make a difference with your calls and emails to officials, read on! This post came into President Isabel’s Animal Abuse Commission and tells how one bad official was removed by public pressure. We CAN make a difference!
Thanks Makia and Karen for sharing this success with the rest of us!
Not long ago my mom posted about the Humane Society here in Reno euthanizing a Rottie that came in named Lowrider. He was abused by his previous owner but a home had been found for him by a Rottweiler Rescue. Long story short, the director of our Humane Society decided to put him down because SHE thought he was a danger, even though he had been visited by his new owner and she did not have a problem with him. This same director has a record of putting down certain dog breeds at her previous job. Needless to say this did not go over well with the animal lovers here and with the pressure she has received the director is resigning. IT DOES HELP TO VOICE YOUR CONCERNS. It worked here.

It may have been too late for Lowrider but think of all the other dogs and cats that were affected because this one person resigned. Now I know we have similar situations around the country (like the one at Devore Shelter in Santa Barbara County) but take heart! We can bark out and be heard! Things CAN change!
