Milo is a tiny 4-year-old Maltese dog who stands at the forefront of the canine fashion scene. His social media outlets brim with photos of this Toronto-based pooch dressing up in the season’s latest trends and looks, and he’s taken his interest in looking good to the next level by launching his own line of clothing.
Let’s suit up and get the scoop on this dinky dapper pup.
A hipster story
A few years ago, Milo’s mom came across a photo of a Bichon Frise in a checkered scarf and glasses. This pup quickly became tagged as Hipster Dog. After becoming smitten with the pic, Anita happened to meet a friend’s Maltese named Einstein and was alerted to “a little 6-month-old pup who needed a special home because he was so small.”
That dog was to become Milo.
She adds that as soon as they met Milo, “It was an instant connection — he jumped straight into the dog carrier, as if to say, ‘I’m ready! Let’s go!'”
Milo’s mom says that while he’s only 4 pounds, he’s definitely a very independent and intelligent pup. “Although he is tiny, he is very smart,” she says. “He loves dog puzzles and doing tricks and is a natural when it comes to posing for photos or filming his YouTube videos.
“He loves going for long walks, but he’s more of a dog watcher,” she continues. “He prefers to stay back and see what other pups are up to from afar.”
Milo hearts Lamby
If you scroll through Milo’s polished Instagram account, you’ll notice more than a few pictures of him snuggling up with what appears to be a toy lamb.
“His BFF is Lamby the stuffed lambchop toy,” confirms his mom. “They wrestle every morning and take naps together, too. They’re pretty cute together.”
Setting trends on a daily basis
There’s no doubt that Milo is a pup who is on his fashion game. When it comes to outfits, he always makes sure to present himself as a dapper dog, whether he’s out and about or posing for the camera.
Talking about his personal style, Milo’s mom says he leans toward “classic tailored looks so you’ll often find him in wool tweeds and bowties.”
As for this winter’s trends? Milo is going to be all about wearing “lots of chunky knits to keep warm.” Form and function!
Fashion do’s and don’ts
When it comes to getting Milo spruced up for his photos and trips around town, his mom says that as a small pup he usually needs to wear layers to stay warm during the fall and winter. This means that he’s very tolerant of trying on various outfits.
“For photos and videos, he’s dressed up for just a short time and he’s rewarded well,” she adds. “He often gets his favorite treat — peanut butter!”
Although Milo’s mom also adds that he’s certainly no fan of wearing hats or headgear, so those are usually out of the picture.
A fantasy shopping spree
As Milo is such a fashionable canine, you can often see snaps of him out shopping. That being so, if he came into a million bucks, how would he splurge?
Well, despite giving off the impression that he’s all about material goods, it turns out Milo also has a philanthropic side. “With a million dollars, we could help a lot of animals in need,” says his mom, explaining that he’d prefer to donate rather than expand his wardrobe.
“However, we are patiently awaiting for Tom Ford to start a clothing line for dogs,” she adds as a side answer. “Maybe Milo could be the spokesdog …”
