Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Shoes Review 2026: Pros, Cons & Verdict

Share

Review Summary

Our Final Verdict

We give Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Shoes a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Build Quality: 4.8/5
Durability: 4.6/5
Sizing: 4.8/5
Price: 4.6/5

Most dogs, on a daily basis, can walk around without paw protection. Their paws and claws will be able to cope with most terrains and conditions. However, whether it’s the middle of summer, and the pavements are searingly hot, or it’s freezing outside, paw protection is a good idea for any dog.

And some illnesses and health conditions mean certain dogs benefit from wearing shoes or boots. Even some rough terrains, or patches of ground where there might be irritants, necessitate some kind of protection for your dog’s feet.

Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Shoes come in a range of sizes to fit all dog paws, have a double-closure system to keep the shoes in place, and are lightweight and breathable to offer good comfort levels. The water-resistant mesh and tough soles help protect feet and paws from the harsh weather and environmental conditions that your pooch might encounter.

But there is only one color choice, and the shoes come in packs of 2. This is apparently because a dog’s front and back feet can be different sizes, but don’t get caught out only buying a single pack when you need two packs.

Specifications

Brand: Kurgo
Product: Blaze Cross Dog Boots
Material: Leather, Nylon
Quantity In Pack: 2
Closure Type: Hook & Loop
Weather Protection: Rain, Snow, Cold

Lightweight Mesh Material

Most dogs will resist wearing shoes, although it may be possible to desensitize them to the feeling over time. One way of making the process easier is ensuring that the shoes are as comfortable as possible. Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Boots are made from a lightweight nylon mesh.

The mesh is breathable and flexible, which means air can get in and around your dog’s paws, so they won’t get sweaty, and it’s also lightweight, so the shoes won’t feel as constricting as others. Because the shoes aren’t big and heavy, it will make it easier for your dog to accept them.

When you get the shoes, ensure they fit, and try putting them on for a few minutes at a time, when your dog doesn’t need to be wearing them. Repeat the process daily, or at least a few times a week. When your dog is calm or sits down with the shoes on, praise and offer rewards. And try to wait until they are calm to take them off again.

Protects Against All Weather Conditions

The shoes have a double ankle fastening, which will keep them in place when worn. This means that the shoes don’t slip or flop around, which not only helps with comfort but also helps ensure good protection from the weather. The nylon mesh is breathable, but the soles protect against hot and cold floors, as well as water, and the mesh and ankle coverings offer additional protection.

Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Boots can be worn throughout the year and on any terrain to provide the protection your pup needs.

Size Range

The Cross Dog Boots are sold in packs of two. Your dog will need four shoes, but this enables you to buy different sizes for the front and rear paws: most dogs do have different-sized feet, so this is important to help ensure that two of the shoes aren’t too tight or too loose. To ensure you get the right size, you will need to measure your pup’s feet. Measure the width at the widest part of the paw. The sizing guide is as follows:

Shoe Size Paw Width
XX-Small 2 Inches
X-Small 2.25 Inches
Small 2.5 Inches
Medium 2.75 Inches
Large 3 Inches
X-Large 3.25 Inches

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How Long Do Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Boots Last?

The boots are made from a lightweight mesh and are elasticated. The mesh and the sole will typically last a long time, but the elasticity around the shoes can give. How long the shoes last will ultimately depend on how often they are worn, what types of conditions your dog walks in, and how well the shoes are kept between walks, but even with regular wear, you can expect them to last a couple of seasons.

Unfortunately, dogs do put their shoes through more wear and tear than people do, so they won’t last as long as a good set of walking boots.

Should My Dog Wear Them Every Day?

Unless your dog has a paw or foot condition, or you walk them somewhere where the terrain can cause injury, they should not need to wear the boots every day. If temperatures are very cold or very hot, or if you are taking an unknown trail, it’s a good idea to put the boots on so they can protect your dog’s feet.

Do They Stay On?

The mesh is elasticated, so as long as you buy the right size, the shoes will stay on when you’re walking. However, the elastic can give after a while, and when this happens, the boots are liable to slip off because they will be looser.

What the Users Say

To help determine how well the boots work for all dogs, and owners, we have checked reviews on other sites as well as checked Amazon buyer ratings to determine the Kurgo boot quality and effectiveness. The boots are generally well received for their comfort and their fit when first purchased. Buyers especially praise the protection they offer against weather conditions.

However, there are some complaints about the fact that a pack only contains two boots, as well as some buyers stating that the shoes eventually lose their elasticity and can slip off the foot when this happens. Some owners have also had problems with sizing, but measuring the front and back feet separately will help avoid sizing issues.

Conclusion

Dogs need to be comfortable when walking, but they also benefit from having protection and support, especially when walking in extreme temperatures and weather conditions, or when they are being walked in areas where there might be sharp stones or foxtails.

Convincing a dog to wear shoes can be challenging, so they must be comfortable and snug. A loose-fitting shoe is more easily shaken or pulled off, whereas a snug-fitting shoe will stay in place through the walk and when at home.

Kurgo Blaze Cross Dog Boots have a breathable mesh material that is protective but lightweight, and a double ankle fastening that offers support and ensures a stable fit whenever worn. However, they do come in packs of two, so measure the front and back feet separately, and they can lose their elasticity over time.
