As any old movie buff knows, Alfred Hitchcock appeared in many of his films in entertaining little cameos. It’s always fun to watch a Hitchcock movie and suddenly spot the director passing through a scene, getting shut out of a bus, or winding a clock in an adjacent apartment. (Dog-lover’s trivia: In his cameo for The Birds, Hitchcock walked his dogs out of a downtown San Francisco pet shop with his very own two Sealyham terriers, Geoffrey and Stanley.)
Decades later, some are speculating that a Greek dog is doing much the same as Hitch. A mysterious mutt has appeared in media photos at every major demonstration in Athens for the last two years, according to The New York Post and a host of other media outlets.
The dog, thought of by many as pure rebel, has achieved iconic status because of his appearances at so many demonsrations and riots. He definitely seems to have a thing against authority.”I’ve seen him many times on TV,” wrote one of his fans in the blogosphere. “He doesn’t seem to get scared of tear gas, explosions, petrol bombs and people screaming all over. He actually seems to enjoy himself a lot!”
The mutt doesn’t seem to belong to anyone. He sports a light blue collar, which means he’s a stray who has been vaccinated. Some speculate that it’s more than one dog appearing in these photos.
