I saw Maria looking at some photos on her computer, and so I got up from my short three-hour nap to see what all the oohs and ahhs were about. As I was yawning my way over to her desk, the doorbell rang, and she disappeared. (I was too tired to bark.) So I’m going to take over writing this blog post. If I do this for her, she’ll probably take me out for an extra walk or adopt me a cat or something.
So from what I can tell, some really amazing dogs can now fly. I’m not sure how they do it, but they seem to do it over water, just to be safe. The article Maria had been looking at was about the AKC/Eukauba National Championship dog show in Long Beach, Calf., last weekend. It features a slide show of other dogs trying to fly.
Here’s another photo from it. Please note that this dog is not me! Such bad flying technique!
I would like to learn how to fly. But I am a whopping 90+ pounds, so I don’t think my ears or my paws would get me very far. So I’ll just do what a friend of mine recently did, and learn how to fly a plane. I’ll definitely blow away the other dogs in the competition, and I won’t need some silly pool under me.
(A note from Maria, who is back from talking with the UPS man. I’m sorry to say, but Jake is wrong. This is not a flying competition. The slide show Jake referred to was of a dock-diving competition. Some of the dogs just look like they’re flying. Jake didn’t believe me, and is off sulking in the back yard and looking at the gulls and sighing…)
