Dogs Left In Evacuation Rescued

Dogs and cats left in Lebanon to be airlifted to U.S.
BEIRUT, Lebanon Their owners fled Lebanon weeks ago — now, hundreds of pets left behind are being airlifted out.
Some 300 dogs and cats will be flown to the United States tomorrow to be put up for adoption.
A group called Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals rounded up many of the pets left behind when foreigners and Lebanese with foreign passports evacuated in July and August.
The American group Best Friends is helping with the effort. It arranged a similar operation last year after Hurricane Katrina.
The animals will be housed temporarily at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. They’ll be given a health and behavior evaluation before being placed in homes.
