Quality and Materials
This cargo liner is made with a comfortable and water-resistant quilted layer. That layer is backed with a layer of a trademarked material called K9-Shield, which is waterproof and made to be resistant to tears and scratches. This material ensures that no moisture on top of the liner will make it through to your vehicle. The exception to the waterproofing is along seams and zippers, which may allow for moisture to pass through to the vehicle.
The materials that make up this cargo liner are made to be comfortable and slightly padded while remaining sturdy. While they will not withstand chewing from strong chewers, they will withstand the routine wear and tear of your dog’s claws, as well as loading and unloading stress on the materials.
Size and Color Options
While 4Knines offers a variety of liners and products to protect your vehicle, the Multi-Function Dog Split SUV Cargo Liner is available in three sizes and four color options. The sizes are made to suit a variety of vehicle shapes and sizes, as long as they have cargo space. This liner is not intended to cover seats or keep your dog restrained in an area of the vehicle.
It’s available in black, grey, and tan solid colors, as well as a camo patterned option. The patterned option does retail for a slightly higher price than the solid colors. The prices will vary between different sizes and color options, with the primary pricing differences being based on the size of the product and how many materials are used.
Patented Split Zip System
One of the biggest inconveniences with cargo liners is that they typically are not made to allow part of your backseat to lie down, causing you to have the whole bench up or down at any given time. The patented split-zip system in the 4Knines cargo liner allows you to use zippers to choose how you lay your seats down.
You have the option of a 50/50 split, a 60/40 split, and a center cargo passthrough. This means that you can adjust seats without having to uninstall the liner, and you can lay part of your bench down while keeping the other part up.
Installation
It can’t be said enough that the installation of this cargo liner is incredibly easy, and when 4Knines says that it will take seconds to install, they actually mean it. To install it, you’ll simply unfold the liner and use the buckles to connect the liner to the headrests on your back seats. Then, you can use the adjustable straps to ensure the liner sits correctly in the back of your vehicle. The liner is cut to lay itself flat, even above wheel wells, ensuring it stays in place when your dog moves around.
This liner has a bumper flap built right into the end of it, allowing you to flip it down over your bumper when loading and unloading your dog. This will prevent scratches and other damage to your bumper. There is no special installation for the bumper flap. It simply folds up out of the way when not in use.
Is 4Knines Cargo Liner a Good Value?
If you’re in the market for a sturdy cargo liner, then the 4Knines Multi-Function Dog Split SUV Cargo Liner is a great value.
This product may have a premium price tag, but it is built to last and comes with a lifetime warranty. Not only is the liner itself an excellent value, but it’s an investment into protecting the far more expensive investment of your vehicle.
Even if your vehicle is the “dog vehicle” of the household, this liner can help prevent unpleasant odors and stains, ensuring it retains more of its resale value.
Frequently Asked Questions
How good is the warranty that comes with this cargo liner?
The warranty offered by 4Knines is a lifetime warranty, and they also offer a no-hassle, 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. The warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials for life, but it does not cover normal wear and tear. Returns are accepted for 30 days, so you have plenty of time to try the liner out and return it if it doesn’t live up to your expectations.
How can I ensure I get the right liner for my vehicle?
The best way to ensure you get the right liner size for your vehicle is by measuring the cargo space. This liner is made specifically for SUVs, vans, and other vehicles with cargo space. It is not made to cover seats in a car, though. The measurements of each liner size are available on the 4Knines website, and the questions section on the product itself is a great place to ask 4Knines directly which liner will best fit your vehicle. You can also reach directly out to their customer service.
What materials is the cargo liner made of?
The primary materials in this cargo liner are cotton and polyester. The non-slip, waterproof layer is made from a patented material called K9-Shield, which is a non-quilted combination of layers that enhance the durability of the product.
Our Experience With 4Knines Cargo Liner
We received a 4Knines Multi-Function Dog Split SUV Cargo Liner to cover the cargo space in our SUV to protect it from our dogs. Eva, our 3-year-old bully mix, weighs 55 pounds and is a little bit scared of trips in the car, so she doesn’t move around much once she’s settled in. Our mixed-breed pup, Penny, is 12 years old, 50 pounds, and loves to pace while we drive. We’ve been using a size large liner for our 2019 Jeep Cherokee.
Installation was a breeze, only taking about 1 minute, and that included the time it took to walk from the back of the SUV and get into the backseat to clip the buckles and adjust the straps, then go back to the back of the SUV to straighten out the liner. The zippers work beautifully in the 60/40 split of the Cherokee, making it easy to fold down one set of seats while the other stays up.
The bumper flap is a great idea that functions well, but this liner was just a little bit too long for the cargo space in the Cherokee. This means that even when the liner is pushed as far back into the base of the seats as it can go, it still spills over the back of the SUV by a few inches.
When the bumper flap is folded back up, the liner is still too long for the door to close, so there is a little bit of folding and maneuvering to get the bumper flap and liner tucked in safely so the door can close and latch properly. The liner itself stays in place extremely well, though, even when loading and unloading dogs or moving seats.
We tested out the waterproofing by spraying water directly onto the liner. As expected, the water beaded up on the surface of the liner. Even when moved around by hand and pressed to the liner, the water didn’t soak in at all. The only potential downside to the surface being waterproof is that if you live in a humid area like we do, it may need to be wiped down after use to ensure it dries properly.
The waterproofing does mean that the liner is easy to clean, and it can be washed in a washing machine or by hand, and 4Knines even says you can spray it directly with the garden hose. Presumably, it shouldn’t go into the dryer since this would likely damage the materials.
In Conclusion
The 4Knines Multi-Function Dog Split SUV Cargo Liner is a high-quality cargo liner made to fit the majority of SUVs and vehicles with cargo space on the market. It’s available in multiple sizes and colors, so you can ensure you get the perfect fit and look for your vehicle.
This liner is waterproof and easy to clean, and it comes with a lifetime warranty for manufacturing defects and issues with the materials. The bumper flap will help keep your bumper protected from loading and unloading activities, and the patented split zippers mean that you can adjust how your seats are set up without uninstalling the liner or blocking access to seatbelts in the backseats.
Overall, we enjoyed this product—including our pups—and can’t wait to continue to use it and keep our vehicle clean whenever we need to haul our fur babies anywhere.
