The 10 Most People-Pleasing Dog Breeds

1. Azawakh

The Azawakh may not be a breed name you instantly recognize like the others on our list, but this regal dog is a loyal and protective member of any family. They have intense bonds with their owners, and their devotion to their families is unlike any other. This deep bond and dedication translate into an incredible and willing companion that will do whatever it can to please its owner.

2. Beagle

Beagles are fantastic family pets that add a sense of adventure to whatever home they’re in. They are a high-energy and intelligent breed that thrives when they have a job to do, like scent work or agility training. Beagles are cheerful, affectionate, and love having company to keep them busy. They are eager to please but can be challenging to train.

3. Bichon Frise

A Bichon Frise is the ultimate cheerleader. They think everything you do is the most awesome thing in the world. They can sometimes be a bit like Velcro, but their charm and intelligence will win you over. These sunny-natured pups are extremely affectionate and cheerful, with big personalities that don’t seem to match their small size. The Bichon Frise adores pleasing their family members and is great for homes with children and other dogs.

4. Border Collie

Border Collies are an energetic and even-tempered breed. They get along well with other pets and children, making them a perfect choice for people looking for a good family pet. They’re eager to please, fun to train, and happy to help out when they can. These overachievers are one of the smartest dog breeds, so they’re happiest when they have plenty of time for extracurriculars in their day.

5. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a sporty companion dog that is as happy being a lap dog as it is brushing up on its natural hunting instincts. Because of their loving and warm temperaments, they make fantastic therapy dogs. This breed is eager to meet anyone who crosses its path and is willing to please both its owners and random strangers it meets on the street.

6. Coton De Tulear

Coton De Tulears love people and are happiest when they spend time with their family members. These sweet little lap dogs thrive on human companionship and are eager to please. These exceedingly loyal and friendly pups get along well with just about anybody, including other dogs, strangers, and other pets.

7. English Bulldog

Though English Bulldogs have a background as fighting dogs, years of careful breeding have calmed down these aggressive tendencies, leaving a strong-willed but eager-to-please dog in its wake. English Bulldogs are friendly and loyal companions who love nothing more than spending time with their family members. They’re happy roughhousing with the kids or snuggling up next to you on the sofa binge-watching Netflix.

8. French Bulldog

French Bulldogs were bred to be the perfect lapdog and are perfectly content sitting on your lap and having a snooze. They’re friendly to their family members and very willing to please. Frenchies are fiercely loyal and will happily, and quite literally, follow their owners to the ends of the Earth. They may be little, but they have a lot of love to give and are always willing to shower their owners with lots of affection.

9. Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers have consistently been one of the most popular dog breeds, according to the AKC. These beautiful gundogs are outgoing, trustworthy, loyal, and eager to please their family members. They’re relatively easy to train and take a playful approach to life, maintaining their puppy-like behavior well into adulthood. Goldens love to be near their family members and need a fair bit of attention.

10. Pug

Pugs are one of the friendliest dog breeds. They thrive on attention from their owners and love to feel included in the daily activities at their homes. This extroverted and charming breed is crazy about humans, be it their adult or child family members or even strangers. Pugs will do anything to please their people and will stop at almost nothing to get a laugh out of their families.

Conclusion

There certainly are many people-pleasing dog breeds out there, but the 10 above are the most likely to wow you with their eagerness to please. But, of course, all dogs have their personality traits regardless of breed. Even within a breed, you might wind up adopting a particularly stubborn or independent dog that couldn’t care less about what you want it to do. On the other hand, you could adopt one whose sole purpose is to do whatever it can to make you happy.

We’re certain you’ll have a new best buddy for life, regardless of which breed you choose to add to your family.
